Nothing could be better for SoFlo sports writing than for both Armando and Omar to go away. They are both really bad for different reasons. Omar offers nothing of substance as a writer or analyst. Most of the regulars on here could do a far better job. The Herald and Sentinel should have fired both Omar and Armando at season's end, then combined their two salaries to hire Ben Volin to write for both papers.
I'm sure the two competing companies would certainly fire their respective writers to share a different one at the same cost. That'll reel in the dollar signs...
Dude ... The suggestion was an absurdity to illustrate what would be an upgrade in quality (and illustrate the extreme lack of quality presently with those to writers) reporting at both papers.

I'd venture to guess that twitter followers correlates pretty closely to page views. I'm not sure why someone would follow someone on twitter, but not read their work, or vice versa. The reality is that Omar Kelly is very entertaining to a lot of people. Religious stuff, shooting people, fighting with his readers, etc. There is a reason why his employer puts up with all the negative attention he gets, and thats because he brings in ratings.
He may quote a verse every now and then, but I would never say his tweets are remotely Christian, or of any religious value. His tweets are as religious as your posts.

I am telling you what general managers and sales managers will think. They care about quality but ultimately ratings/page views are what matters most. I'm not arguing right/wrong with you... I have to sit in sales meetings every week because I am a commercial producer for a NBC affiliate. I know what these people think.

Well, agree with the Bible postings or not, the guy mixes up his personal agenda's with his business agenda. Most fans who are looking for information travel the message board and twitter route of these guys that are 'paid' to report info...To me, he's a lot like Peter King and his twitter account....it's a bunch of gobble-de-goop that has little sports substance...I look at Omar in the same light...I choose not to follow him and only hear what he says via message board posts...I just got tired of sifting thru the crap to get to anything that might be either sports related or of any significant value to me as a fan...
That twitter account cannot be considered simply a "personal" account. It's now Wednesday. He has not posted a single tweet since Saturday. This is not a coincidence.

He gets paid to be on twitter and to report on the Fins and SFL area sports...unfortunately, he spends way too much time belittling those that disagree with him, posting his personal religious beliefs and generally NOT doing what he is supposed to be doing via twitter. It's not a personal account for him. It never will be. I'm not upset with him and if he chooses to continue to feed his twitter account with the things that I have no regard for, I'll continue to disregard that account. That was a stupid thing to tweet even if it was just your PERSONAL twitter account and you could expect no professional ramifications whatsoever. The fact that he's a high profile twitter guy with like 28k twitter followers, many of whom you know absolutely hate you, makes it monumentally stupid. When I saw it, if I were in a room with him, I would have slapped him. Suddenly and inappropriately, like that scene in Old School at the office when Luke Wilson's co-worker accuses him of sleeping with the boss's daughter. Then I would have pointed a finger at him and told him to delete that tweet right NOW.

Omar Kelly could literally post nothing but pictures of him defecating, and if it brings enough traffic, his employer will not care. Print media is dying, and these guys will do anything to stay alive.
