Well when you have 3 great offensive options it was a bad choice of words, imo sometimes lebrons half court offensive game is lacking a bit in terms of creativity and decisiveness, he seems to struggle a bit when he's trying to get around a defender. I think the heat win because when they want they can turn on the best defense in the league, it's usually how it works when you have elite athletes, which, Lebron, dwade, and Bosh are..
A 100 percent Dwayne wade, no team should have a chance, and I know Wades game when he plays at his highest level, that level was not in display this series...but I would say he was at 85% and you could offset that with Parker's hamstring. Nobody would take Danny green and Gary Neal over Ray Allen and Shane batter..so the heat role players were better, I just wasn't that impressed with Lebron until game 7 compared to the greats that he's up against..that may change though, he has time.
If you haven't been impressed so far than you won't be impressed in the future. I'm not sure why you're not, though.
Because people who don't actually watch every Heat game don't understand a lot about the team just as we probably wouldn't understand the subtle workings of some other teams we don't see often. I think it's humorous though. He's neglecting the things Lebron does better than Jordan to make a case. Who cares if Lebron doesn't dribble like a Tony Parker type player. The man is 6'8 or so, no-one that big is going to have an insane dribble. Let's forget that Lebron is the Peyton Manning of this team because he doesn't cross people over. Who even cares if he is the #1, #2 or #3 player ever. He is the best in the league now and no-one is even in his peripheral except MAYBE Durant who won't surpass him until Lebron begins to decline barring an injury to either guy.
People do generally get sick of dominant teams, except the Justin Beibers of the world who just buy a new hat.
Well look at the Celtics . Betting on Smeagol over Doc. Bad idea. Can't say i'm sad though. First Ray and now Doc. The only two decent people from that ******* team, now i can hate them fully.
It's a stupid comparison and really? Wtf is the relevance? Lebron is going to leave his own legacy, and that's the bottom line. Who the best player ever is can NEVER be proven just an opinion. And opinions always vary. 4 years ago the big question was who would you rather have? Brady or Manning. And the arguments poured in. It's fun to talk about, but stupid to get into a heated debate over IMO.
IMO teams become more dominant when viewed from a historical perspective. In a few years all most will remember of this team is that they went to three consecutive finals, won back to back championships, went on a long win streak and were one of the most efficient teams ever (I'm not taking into account what they may accomplish going forward). Most won't be thinking that they could have lost. Reality is that all the great historical teams could have lost. All those teams were picked apart for weaknesses by the media at the time. (They had to have something to talk about.) Therefore they seemed less dominant at the time. There was always the chance they would lose. But as time passes all we know is that they didn't lose so it becomes more like they couldn't lose in our minds.
Because I watch them with one eye on history doesn't mean I can't judge them fairly relative to the great teams. and great players.. I think what's important before people insult each other, and maybe something your not understanding, is the narrative for which some are judging this player, and this team..and I don't see anything wrong with that..
and that's all I'm trying to do as I watch the heat, for fun, and where it all will end up in history, I didn't know some were so fu&$in sensitive about a discussion of where it fits all time, but we all have our eyes and our minds, and that's what we do in sports, we compare, especially when we have no favorite team in the race..
Welcome to THIS thread...where anything less than kissing every Heat players *** brands you a "hater".
The narrative by which you're judging them is that they must essentially be the greatest team of all time in order to not be considered a failure, or as more than "ok". If it's insulting for me to say that, then perhaps that implies that your standards are so ludicrous that merely repeating them causes embarrassment.
Question for SEC. I know you've said you think a Heat trade into the first of the draft for a young player is possible. What piece would we dangle to get back in there?
Some rumors going around that Phoenix may trade Marcin Gortat. Makes $7 million on an expiring deal. Not sure what they're looking for as a rebuilding team but Gortat would be a nice fit for a year.
Cash, most likely. We don't have many pieces. When do we start getting our picks back? Shouldn't we be done with the sign and trade deals by now?
Once again must profess ignorance here but didn't the Heat trade for the 76ers' first round pick last year when they traded down from the 1st round to the 2nd round?
Yes but it was a lottery protected pick we received. So we don't get the pick until they make the playoffs again.
I think it has other protections starting next year, but the easiest way for us to get it is for them to make playoffs yes. Actually better off since next year is a much stronger draft, even in the early teens.
So there are other ways for us to get the pick besides them making the playoffs? I was curious. If they go on a 15 year playoff drought do we not get the pick until 2027 lol? Any idea what the other stipulations are?
I just read that it is "protected" in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and that if the conditions aren't met by then, Miami gets a pair of 2nd rounders. I don't know if that means 2015 or 2016, or perhaps both (2nd in 2015, 2nd in 2016). Funny how all the articles said that the protection should be moot since the 76ers are expected to easily end up back in the playoffs right away in 2013. Oops.
Just found all the conditions. The pick is lottery protected for three years. If the 76 era miss the playoffs all three years then Miami will just receive a 2nd.
From my understanding we already received the first of these two seconds last year. (It was a 2nd + lotto protected pick) so if the 76ers continue to miss the playoffs we just get one more second. We got Justin Hamilton last year with the other second.
76ers should make the playoffs next year. They are not that bad, and IF Bynum is healthy should be a decent team. Presuming they re-sign Bynum of course. Bottom of the East is still horrible, with Boston joining the also-rans next year.
With a healthy Bynum they make the playoffs easily. Unfortunately for them that is a huge if. The Celtics are absolutely disintegrating.
http://espn.go.com/nba/draft2013/st...-history-1/an-oral-history-2003-lottery-draft Pretty cool article on the 2003 draft by Windhorst with a ton of interviews with all the participants including Riley and Randy Pfund. Wade apparently was horrible in his workout with the heat which he thought blew his chances so he thought he was going to Chicago. Riley originally liked Kaman at that spot and had to be talked into giving Wade a second look, etc. Crazy stuff when you think about it. Funniest anecdote, Chad Ford admitting that he had Wade ranked 13th overall that year while thinking Darko Milicic would change the league forever. Whoops! What a draft that was. David West was the 18th pick. He'd be 5th overall if you redrafted
Ha, no I cannot. But that's why the story is great. Nobody would've complained if we took Kaman but thankfully Pfund and the scouts convinced Riley to take a second look and he was willing to go against his preference for bigs. But it is crazy. For as much as we can laugh at Ford ranking Wade 13th in the class, nobody expected that we were getting what we got. I remember when we drafted Wade, I liked the pick, thought he could score, but did I think we were getting a first ballot hall of famer, Finals MVP, 3 time 9and counting) champion, the thrid or 4th best SG of all time and one of the top 20 players of all time? No, I did not. And neither did Riley.
SMH. Two triple-doubles plus one of the best Game 7 finals performances in the history of the game, and Lebron James was unimpressive. Again, ridiculous, unreachable standards.
The national narrative is, will Lebron James be the greatest of all time, is he better than jordan, also, where does this heat team fit in with the other dynastys, so remind me again as to why these narratives are so ludicrous?, why did this team come together?, to be a one hit wonder, no, they came together to be a dynasty, and that is the standard they want us to judge them by..so far so good..
You don;t seem to get it. I don;t mind or care that Fans hate them. I actually like that. It makes me feel good that fans from other teams despise the team/fans/logo/riley/arison/whoever. I like it. I just ask that those idiots on ESPN, TNT, etc., don;t let it creep into their coverage.
nope. I said, they would buy a 2nd round pick if the right guy is there. I am told they love Tim Hardaway Jr. and another non-descript SEC player. They scouted the SEC heavily this year.
If your going by stats to determine whether he had a good series in the time frame I stated, I digress..he did not play very well during that time, and I'd bet he'd tell you that himself...so he figured he could no longer get in the lane, and he trusted his jumper and went with it from game 6 4th quarter and game 7.. The only one being ridiculous is your reactions, a lot of respected members of basketball will tell you up until those points in those last two games, it was below par for a player of this caliber and status, it looks as though your allegiance won't allow you to admit that.. He played a great 7th game, a good 4 th quarter, and got some luck..the rest of the series for a player wanting to be called the king or on the same level as Jordan or Majic I would call it below par, and I'd bet he'd tell you the same, in fact he did..
Marcin Gortat has a ton of value. I don;t see how Phoenix can get a decent return for him. 7 million a year for a very good big man is a steal. If I were the Heat I would kick the tires, but expect to be rejected.
