Guys you know what, lets just be honest here. Miami is an entertainment town first and foremost with a heavy emphasis on Sports(Football particularly) Arts, International Banking & (drumsroll) ......Drugs. These people that would rather have a tray of coke in the morning than coffee just want to see a quality product.... WINNER. Common sense ought to tell any owner in a market like this that a quality product is the only sure means to formulating some gist of a professional "die hard " fan base. People pay the money to see a professional effort being professionally managed to enjoy a professional experience. Only shady minded characters expect fans to support a Florida-Atlantic type spectacle while being ripped off at the box office.

The Dolphin fans have been good considering what we've been generally accustomed to over the last 9 years (excluding '08) and we don't ask for much, Just Win And Play That Music we don't care who or how you get it done. I still think Sparano was our man, I think we would've eventually got it done sooner rather than later with him.
Point-blank, period. The Dolphin regalia is falling off the shelves and Sunlife is rocking if the Dolphins can at least muster back to back playoff appearances.

Miami certainly seemed like a sports town last night. That crowd was rockin! What a great game, what a great night, what a great series!

I said I could care less. All teams have Fairweather fans. If media chooses to call Miami fans out it means they hate this town. I love that

What are we to make of how the success of the heat can affect the fanbase if the dolphins, I think that team has captured the youth of south Florida, I would think moving forward were losing fans to the basketball team, is it crazy to think that the success of the heat is detrimental to the fanbase of the dolphins?

I couldn't be sure, especially since I don't live in Miami. It's hard to measure the heartbeat of the local sports fans from afar. However, the obvious excitement of the fans in that arena mostly had to do with it being the NBA's Superbowl. So while I totally agree with you about Sunlife Stadium, and it's somewhat sterile atmosphere compared to what it could be in a new or properly renovated stadium, I think that once the Fins start winning, the lukewarm portion of the Miami fan base will get back on board. Those fans that have possibly migrated from the Dolphins to the Heat, will be back when the Dolphins are playing for a championship, IMO.

I'm more in the "a rising tide raises all ships" camp. I think that if the Dolphins start winning those same fans will support the Dolphins. The seasons really don't overlap much as many B-ball fans don't pay much attention to the early regular season.

Dolphins were willing to pay out of pocket over 70 % for the renovation.

Dolphins lost superbowl bids 50 and 51..

Public vote came in early results were not favorable.

Ross invested into a soccer company with the intention to make south Florida the hub for all international soccer matches on u.s soil.

The college national championship will soon be up for grabs, as in not predetermined..you will have to compete with other cities and venues for the game.

As much security as one could offer in keeping the dolphins in south Florida, the partnership and agreement would be spread out over 30 years.

A canopy to shade 95 % of the fans

A redesign of the lower bowl with the objective of "getting fans closer to the action"

Owners investing over 70% of the cost on the 375 to 400 million dollar project.

Tourism tax as the main source of partnership

If the city of Miami does not support this movement for the team, the stock, and the region, and they lack the vision to understand what they could potentially miss out on, I'm sorry you don't deserve a football team, or a world class venue to host world class events....stick with your monster trucks shows and your WWE.

One would have to define what a sport town is for comparison sake. There would have to be consistent observation and a clear idea of what everyone should look for. That is straight out of the books as a "behavioral definition" of what is observed. For example, it might be based on number of sports in city, population of area vs. attendance of games etc. There is a way to compare, and that comparison can then be analyzed as fair or unfair based on other criteria (e.g., saying the population is transient could be quantified to show that people average what length of stay in the city?). Now does anyone want to do all that, or is it just easy to throw out opinion based on little fact. Like I previously did comparing Miami to LA and that both cities appear to be entertainment cities. There generally is a way to get facts on most things if you want.

I don't see how anything I said there had anything to do with DC. *scratches head*

If you are basing a majority of your assessment on attendance then a lot of non-sports towns now become sports towns is what I'm saying. It's cool though bro. Its not that serious of a conversation to me. Miami is a sports town.
