I would think it could def be for longer then one fight. He has nobody to compete against at his current weight and I doubt he'd go all the way up to 205 and then drop down two classes to fight St Pierre. If it was only going to be for one fight then Im sure they would have matched him up with a bigger name then Irvin.
I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and guess the limo thing was CB. Purely bc of the smirk on Forrest's face and how disappointed Rampage looked. BTW, wtf is wrong with CBs face? He looks like a white Bubba from Forrest Gump.
he's their middleweight champ tho. this is like when Vanderlei moved up to fight cro-cop or mark hunt. just an interesting match-up(and a much safer match-up for a mw). its not a permanent fixture. if they find a good 205 match up for him, they'll pull the trigger again im sure. just dont expect to see him fighting chuck lidell anytime soon. although you never know.
leeeets not go that far. guys a moron no question. but is he all that talented? no. all hes shown is that he has good wrestling and has been bigger then all his oponents. Im actually glad someone else more entertaining will take his place.
crazy finale!!!!!!! CB / Amir rematch finale will be awesome.....jesse was heart broken, but dana put his *** in his place....hes not ready, and he sent the dude packing....crazy night!!!!!! Cant wait till saturday!
he's a very talented kid, he made it to the ultimate fighter finale! he's a physical specimen. i was just making a loose comparison of a great athlete who was victim of their own natural, raw, stupidity. no i dont think he's the caliber athlete of a man who not only dominated, but terrorized the heavy weight boxing division for about a decade. but he would've definitely had a solid ufc career of long boring fights. but make no mistake, for an mma fighter, he is very good. he has great wrestling, great ground and pound, and very good submission defense. just cause he's not of k1 pedigree doesn't mean he's not a talented fighter.
Dana made the right call. JT is unstable as hell. I'm only concerned he might do something stupid. He's a walking time bomb, and a borderline alcoholic. CB has it all, except a good chin and stamina. At 24 he should have much, MUCH better cardio than he does. I do like CB's chances this time more so than the last bout. Good show.
yeah, i was shocked that he was gassing in both fights the way he was. he's an offensive powerhouse...but tonight def. showed some holes.
Its possible but I don't think Im as high on him. He reminds me a hell of a lot of Tommy Spear, that farm kid from the previous season that Mac Danzig ran through. I just dont see a lot of technique from Taylor. Its probably fair to assume his learning curve is equivalent to a Black Diamond Slope as well.
Taylor is such a dip****. I remember seeing one of his interviews and listening to him talk about how he left his job and everything etc. to come here and everything rides on it. Then hearing about how he just had a kid and all that. Way to go dumbass. You just blew the biggest opportunity ever bc you wanted to get drunk and be an idiot. Enjoy telling that story to everyone who asks why you didnt make it to the finale when you didnt even lose a fight.
I'm just hoping it serves as a wake up call for him, unfortunately I think it's going to have the wrong effect on him.
Yea unless he got knocked out. Personality wise, hes exactly the kind of stereotype that makes this sport look like a bunch of morons to outsiders. If Dana gives him another chance he better kiss his *** up and down Las Vegas. He should def have to start damn near to the bottom and slowly prove himself. Cant see it happening bc he just seems like he has no discipline with anything.
yeah. he's bordering on "i feel bad for you" stupid. he was hilarious though, i enjoyed him this season. he;s like this weird stone headed jock, who talks like a valley girl, with some Spicolli mixed in. i mean, that giant cro-magnon cabeza... its was just like, "what planet is this guy living on." but he showed a very despicable side tonight. nothing funny about it. i guess his kid wasnt in his thoughts when he was terrorizing women in vegas.
good point. the fan base doesnt help the image either. the blood thirsty, impatient, drunken meat head stigma will be tough to shake, but its coming along. and yeah, i dont know if he'll get another chance but hey, the WEC needs fighters too...
Crazy finale. Amir is a beast, not sure I've ever seen someone take such a beating every fight and end up on top. When he listed the guys he beat I was like damn, thats impressive. Wasn't surprised at all that JT was the one who got the boot, kid is the definition of idiot. I'm glad Dana put his foot down. Rampage cracked me up when he was so happy his guy was back in the mix. I agree, I hate to say it but as I was watching I was thinking they better put this guy on suicide watch.
Dana said to call him in a few months.....this guy better shape up, no more drinking....100% towards making it back to the ufc.....whata dildo though, braggin hes a UFC fighter and all that..... No You are a good wrestler than lays on people..........NOT a ufc fighter yet
"Hey, do you know who I am? I'm a UFC fighter! I'm a UFC fighter!" Ummmm no you aren't. You're a dumb *** jock that can't handle his liquor. Way to go smarty. BTW, how does CB expect to be a successful UFC fighter when he can't even go 2 rounds without running out of gas? I was so hoping to see him get KTFO when he was dropping his hands constantly from being winded. I think Amir will easily win the finale.
Word of advice, dont check your text messages if you are wathcing a live event on dvr, thanks again Sick! Good event over all. Riddle looked impressive, he looks ten times bigger than when he was on the show. Diego Sanchez is so much fun to watch. I love his intensity. That was an awesome match. The flying knee was awesome. The match with Fisher in it was good as well. I'm overly happy that the crowd was so patient with this fight, I hate it when the crowd starts booing when the match is deadlocked. CB knows he tapped, he acted like a punk at the end, and tried to take away what was a clean submit from Amir. Amir was the darkhorse the whole show, its kind of nice to see him win. He seems like a good guy, and is a well rounded punching bag that can make you submit from anywhere, which is funny considering he is labeled as a striker. Main event was good as well. Kendall Groves looked good on his back against Tanner. Honestly I thought once Tanner got him down he would own him, but not the case.
yeah.....again, sorry about that i had a few beers in me texted "Amir does it again with the armbar!!!!!" and i get the "**** homo i taped it.....im at the end of the first fight".......... needless to say i felt like *** haha
My best friend Josh is friends, and on occassion trains, with Amir. Josh is all about the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/ground fighting. Anyways, we had fun watching his bud dominate last night, good times. I honestly don't know that much about it, but enjoy watching now and again.
Amir seems like a really cool guy, I was happy to see him win. I don't know how much of a force he can be in such a stacked weight class like that but I wish him the best of luck.
I was happy to see Amir win as well. I picked CB from the beginning but I'm glad he didn't win. I was disappointed to see that the next one with Mir and Big Nog will not be heavyweights. Looks like some decent fighters though.
I would also like to see a TUF full of heavywights! Maybe the house couldn't handle it I guess. I was not surprised at all by Matt Riddle in the finale. I thought he was a hell of a fighter, unfortunately he got submitted in his first fight. He was basically controlling that fight as well, but got a little carried away. It was good to see him fight that well and do it with class at the end by not calling out Dante. Kendall looked real good, but I still don't know how well he'll do against real competition. Evan Tanner is yesterday's news.
Amir came off as a complete class act thoughout the show, and apparently has an iron will as well. he never gave up, and was down in most of his fights on the score cards i would bet. great to see him win. i usually pull for the guys with amateur wrestling backgrounds cause i used to wrestle. but CB just seems like such an arrogant jerk.
Amir had the best personality, and best video interviews as well...very dry wit. In the 1st fight with CB, when he was cut by the elbow, he said "yeah, I know exactly when that elbow cut me. I felt it, I said, ouch, thats gonna bleed, then I looked and saw this red, and said, yeah, thats my blood, I'm bleeding." Class guy and great for the sport.
he's a smart fighter...and training with forrest helps. smart fighters dont forget the basics, and usually have pretty awesome defense as a result of their mindfulness. it was a pleasure watching Amir win. CB definitely seems like a monster in the practice room, but he forgot for a minute that he was in a real fight. a solid show overall. and if cb had a normal upper lip, he wouldn't seem half as arrogant. he just has a look like he's a prick....like matt damon being a total douche.
Forrest Griffin up to the challenge/Training with Wanderlei http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6606&zoneid=2 Good read
yeah, that has to help....but personally, Silva's performance vs. Liddell after all the hype and whatnot was dissapointing to me regarding his skills. I am sure he can help Griffin since he has beat Jackson, but still Silva is not the end-all be-all guy I heard about from Pride, etc. I think I am rooting for Griffin over Jackson.
I like Forrest, but Rampage is the man. I def wouldnt mind seeing him go on a run like Anderson Silva.
Kinda obvious who I'm rooting for Rampage is my #1 favorite fighter, just love his style. He is also a very different fighter from his Pride days so I'm interested to see how much Wandy's advice helps.
did anyone ever see that episode of Jackass where their screwing around in a gym and one of them fights Nigel Hudson. A youngass Rampage is in it for a few minutes. He looks a lil smaller and doesnt have the tats yet but its def him.
Well that didn't take long. Jesse Taylor back in the UFC already, will fight Dollaway at July 19th Fight Night. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6619&zoneid=13
Interesting. Dollaway seems to have a very weak jaw...but then again, he has only been caught by two arm bars from Amir "a Jiu-Jitsu specialist", etc. Maybe Taylor pounds him, or maybe, he is the perfect foe and CB controls him with his wrestling ground game when his dangling arms wont be used against him so much.
That kinda pissed me off until I read this part: At least the kid is trying to get his head on straight.
I give him credit for at least going to AA. But its not like it was really an option. Hopefully he gets his dumbass head right. Needless to say, Im still rooting for Bubba Dolloway.
Thiago Alves VS. Diego Sanchez Likely for UFC 89. "While the welterweight division looks towards a championship match in August between current titleholder Georges St. Pierre and Jon Fitch, the weight class will continue to build towards a new top contender as MMAWeekly.com has learned that American Top Team knockout artist Thiago “Pitbull” Alves is slated to return on Oct. 18 to face former “Ultimate Fighter” winner Diego Sanchez. The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight. There is currently a verbal agreement with actual bout agreements for the contest expected to be signed in the next few days.
