Just figured I'd post this before the confusion ensues at OTAs, minicamp, etc. but here are updated jersey numbers for the Dolphins. Keep in mind that these aren't "final" until week 1. If you recall, Lamar Miller was 44 last year throughout camp and switched to 26. http://www.thefinsiders.com/blog/2013/2013-new-veteran-numbers-released New Players Brandon Gibson - 10 Mike Wallace - 11 Brent Grimes - 21 Philip Wheeler - 52 Dannell Ellerbe - 59 Lance Louis - 61 Tyson Clabo - 77 Dustin Keller - 81 Marvin McNutt - 87 Vaughn Martin - 90 Numbers Changed Jeff Fuller - 14 (was 83) Rishard Matthews - 18 (was 86) De'Andre Presley - 23 (was 21) Dimitri Patterson - 24 (was 32) Jonas Gray - 32 (was 46) Jonathan Freeny - 56 (was 59) Kyle Miller - 86 (was 87) Hope that helps as pictures, video, etc. start coming out throughout the rest of the offseason.
Nice to see no 19. Why do receivers like the tens/teens so much these days? I'm partial to the 80's for receivers. I doubt he would be on the bubble for Kyle Miller. His college number was 15 so I guess he prefers the teens.
Looks like Brent Grimes and Dannell Ellerbe, somehow took numbers that were already being used. I wonder if they PAID to get those numbers, or the former owner just let them have it.
Will never forget Crash, no matter how great Mike Wallace plays. guy was the epitomy of fan favorite bench player
I thought Gilly was going to get his college no 23 which was available . Of course De'Andre Presley probably wont get to wear that number long.
So fresh off the waiver wire, Marvin McNutt takes Kyle Miller's number, who in turn takes Rishard Matthews' number and forces him to take a number in the teens? That's weird.
Receivers should go back to wearing #'s in the 80's. Unless you can throw the ball, you shouldn't wear a # between 10 and 19.
I'm with you, Raf. I like receivers having numbers from 1-19. I don't agree with this. There's 4 quarterbacks on our roster compared to at least a dozen receivers & tight ends, so I don't see why those 4 QBs should get to wall off 16 of the first 19 digits (punter, kicker, and running back occupy 3), leaving those dozen+ WRs & TEs fighting for 10 digits between 80-89.
