In my opinion our 4 WR set is a sure thing :

    Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Matthews,

so, only the WR 5 is available, and that will be Binns, Bumphis, Collins, or fuller.

I think Binns (more experience) will win the job and if we carry 6 WR bumphis will be this one.

    Opinions.

I'm thinking Jeff fuller, he had a good camp last year, and it's been said that he's been working very hard this offseason..Binns dropped a lot of balls at the end of the year, short armed a couple.

No idea, but its a pleasant change to see a topic about the no.5 WR instead of who will be 1, 2 or 3.

I like Fuller's chances if he gets his head on straight. Not that he's a headcase but it's the only thing I can think of that's holding him back. He went from First Team All Big 12 with Blackmon and Broyles and beating out Swope and Kendall Wright to an UDFA. Both Blackmon and Wright became first round picks.

It'll be Binns. The coaching staff think highly of him.

It will probably come down to who can contribute the most in special teams.

It's going to be a depth/special teams position more than anything. Emphasis on special teams.

In actual 5-wide sets, Dustin Keller is going to be out there.

I think one of the rookie free agents has a decent shot, in particular Bumphis and Collins. Bumphis can return and that would allow him to do the punt return duties Bess had.

Sherman mentioned him in an interview..I forget which one old man...it was in the context of Ryan working out, and him being around this offseason..

Last year we carried 6 WRs. I'm going to go out on a limb and say right now that Chad Bumphis makes the 53 man roster and contributes as a rookie.

I'd like to see Terrell Sinkfield make it but I think it'll be whoever can contribute on special teams. I wish we would have re-signed Marlon Moore to a one year deal.

I am fine with no Marlon Moore. The guy couldn't catch in games.

He was about as good as a special teams player you could ask for. There's a reason why the 49ers signed him.

FA Terrell Sinkfield has recorded fastest 40 yards time of any WR who has ever been in Miami at 4.19

I watched his highligh film. Terrell Sinkfield never looked like one of the fastest players of all time. He looked fast, however he didn't really just outrun people.

The official forty time from his workout was 4.33, which is still excellent.

My guess is that it will not be Binns or Fuller. I think it will be one of the UDFAs or somebody not yet on the roster.

He also has Bess' short area quickness.

The question is, is Bess gone because they do not want someone with his skillset (and limitations) or was it the money, in which case they may wish to use Bumphis as a cheaper Bess.

Bumphis is an ideal slot receiver and return guy. But so was Bess.

Trade Sinkfield to the Raiders for a high draft pick!! I also like what I've heard about Bumphis being a potential Bess replacement...but yeah receiver number 5 shouldn't matter too much with Keller on the field in 5 wr sets

My guess too. I would not be surprised if it is Jasper Collins or Chad Bumphis though. Either one has the potential to be a good slot receiver.

There won't be but very few times we ever go 5 wide. Mostly it will be 3 or 4 in passing situations. In those situations I agree Keller will be one of the slots. I just personally like all of our top 3 on the outside, but apparently the coaches have designs on one of them being a slot on some of the passing downs.
