I agree that you can make an argument that taking Lane Johnson was a panic move. I don't think it would have been a panic move. Especially for only a 2nd round pick. I still stand that there is no argument for saying Dion Jordan is a panic move.
yep.. the media is always right… we should cut Jordan now and save ourselves the embarrassment of actually put him on the field. I would also highly recommend that we just pass on the rest of our draft picks.
Pretty high. I expect that at least one if not both make it to the third round and that we're targeting a WR.
What i found interesting is when Chicago took Long (from Oregon) he said that he hasnt seen him play...immediately I thought did he just stop watching football? or Just the Ducks?
Just hope this news doesn't cause the Pats or someone to try and snag one of them before us. Both have to be high on our radar with the A&M connection for Swope and all the WVU games Ireland was at - no reason he couldn't be scouting both Bailey/Austin. It will be interesting to see if we pull the trigger for Albert though, or if he is just stringing people along on this, making them think we want a T when we are happy with Martin and springing for a lower priced Winston-esque vet. Reports are we have started negotiating again.
maybe he had not seen him play because no one was expecting Long to go in the 1st round? You know, prep to the depth that you expect to be able to talk about?
I'm not a fan of the reported Albert trade. My dream scenario would be to land Menelik Watson in the 2nd and then add Bailey or Swope in the third. I think that Watson could potentially end up being the best LT in this draft. We'd probably have to move up in the 2nd to do it though.
added to this: we were also guaranteed to get Jordan at 3 at that point, which can't be said about Tavon had we passed on Jordan. There's a chance we could've missed out on both players. Plus, pick 54 is possibly in contention for Albert, so that means if we wanted to trade up it would've had to be either a big jump using #42 or a small jump using a 3rd, and of those 2 options the big jump for Jordan was most feasible and at least guaranteed us a coveted player.
Yep, he's been PO'd since we sent his *** packing. And since he got to play for Belichick and Payton, he's all high and mighty now.
