http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/131315/kenny-vaccaro Not saying this is true or agreeing with it, but just wanted to share this information with all my friends here
I believe someone on this board has us mocked to Vaccaro, that someone said that he was hearing some things but couldn't tell, that someone is highly respected...hmmmm.
By the way D.J. Hayden had a workout today for 10 NFL teams (maybe more). Rex Ryan was in personal attendance. Now that they hold the 13th overall pick they could use it on him to replace Darrelle Revis. If the Dolphins want Hayden they'd probably better just take him at 12.
I've heard from multiple sources that the Dolphins are in for Vaccaro to some extent. I'm just not sure I believe them. There are some elements to it that smell like smoke. The Dolphins have been predictable, but not necessarily because of the inside word. Lord only knows, if I shared all of the inside word I've had over the last few years, it's all over the effing place. You'd have never known they were drafting Mike Pouncey OR Ryan Tannehill. The Dolphins are predictable because they go where the need is, and they go where the logic is, not because the info that leaks out of the building ends up accurate.
1. Chance Warmack 2a. Sylvester Williams 2b. Robert Alford 3a. Giovani Bernard 3b. Brennan Williams Tar Heel heavy...
Chance Warmack would be a bit of a surprise, I don't know if he has been reported as someone whom the Dolphins have spoken to which has been as the Universal Draft folks I believe noted are almost always the players picked. People who think Chance Warmack isn't a good fit I think are barking up the wrong tree. He plays on a zone blocking team. He can execute second level blocks on outside zones. He's a little bit slow in terms of 40 time and he's a big guy, but that doesn't make him not a scheme fit. Chance Warmack is also the kind of guy you should be willing to alter your blocking scheme a bit for if he's the best player available. I don't think Miami wants to run a Houston Texans style zone scheme, they will likely be more balanced in terms of inside/outside zone plays, just like Alabama.
Vaccaro offers you the position flexibility Ireland seems to love. He can play free or strong safety, and nickel corner.
I don't get the Warmack part. If you want a guard Cooper is a far better fit in this offense. Him and Pouncey getting out to the second level would be scary for opponents. Hopefully he's already gone by 12.
Then why not take Cooper at #1 and make it even MORE Tarheel heavy. Especially since he fits what we do so much better. I will say with 100% certainty that if both Warmack and Cooper are there we will take Cooper over Chance.
This guy must be good.... Ofcourse the Dolphins will tell everyone their intentions for Thursday, makes sense. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I love Warmack or Cooper at #12, either one next to Pouncey will be a HUGE upgrade for us. Guards in ZBS are very important, love to have a Larry Little type playing the position for us.
That doesn't mean he's a better fit. I think Cooper's skill set is a much better fit in what the Dolphins do than Warmack.
Warmack is the best guard to come out in forever. But I can't take a guard in the first, not with our CB situation and only Cam Wake to rush the passer
He's very athletic, but I don't think you need a phenomenal athlete for even an outside zone heavy team. Some of the stuff that Cooper does that is rare(able to pull around right tackle, follow the QB on sprint outs/moving pockets, etc.) are not stuff things the Dolphins do.
I don't know how reliable this information is, If these are in fact the three players the Dolphins want to draft in the first round and they are all available when the Dolphins draft at 12, my preference would be in the following order. 1) Eifert 2) Warmack 3) Vaccaro Unfortunately I think Eifert will be drafted before the 12th pick, so I guess it will be between Warmack and Vaccaro, if this source actually is reporting factual information, which I seriously doubt.
I'm still holding out a slim hope they draft Jarvis Jones. Certainly he's not "must" or "need", but he's so damn good. I think he could really flourish in Miami's defense.
Why though ? Was pouncey a laughable pick ? ....Warmack may be the best bet at 12. Guard is huge need. Are you going to take any other player available at 12 like a DJ Fluker or Tank Carradine because he's not an interior lineman. ? Value, baby.... The first round isnt tainted by the contract involved anymore. It's about getting the best player, preferably at a position of need. Warmack is one of the best players in the draft, at a need postion, which happens to be a meat and potatoes position. Laugh at that.
I'd rather we trade down with Atlanta or San Francisco. Surely if Milliner fell to 12 we would take him or trade to said team above.
So many years pass where I come to terms that we are going to get the safe player, and pass on potentially elite talent at the skill positions. **** that, not this year, I want Eifert, austin, Jones, Jordan...just someone that has a chance to be top 3 at there position. I really feel Eifert would complete the offense with clay running more h back, Keller as the shifty te and Eifert goes up and gets it. Wallace can run past anyone and hartline Bess and Gibson can all keep the chains moving. Jones makes plays more than anyone in this draft, sans honey badger, and would fit our scheme perfectly. Would also allow Misi to provide great depth throughout the LB core. I don't Cate if we have to play Martin at LT or pay Albert 10 mil. Give me some elite quality impact at a position that makes play. For the love of god, I'm a lifelong fins fans born in 1987...I DESERVE THIS!!!!!!!
Totally, totally agree. I read some respected members says in The Club that Warmack just doesn't fit for a zone blocking team, but I'm same as you. I just don't see him lacking in the traits needed for a zone blocking guard. I still think I'd prefer Cooper if we go guard though.
If it's down to those 3 I prefer Eifert. I would rather move Garner to guard than pick one in the first round. The whole thing sounds like smoke screen anyway.
If we draft Cooper I'm guessing we'll see a lot things we don't see when Richie Incognito is in there.
This tells me Miami will actually draft: 1. Jonathan Cooper 2. Tavon Austin 3. Tank Carradine That time of year.
If we drafted Chance at 12 I would be pretty happy. This guy is a frickin beast and he would absolutely solidify our guard problem. He would probowl from year 1 and you wanna see some pancaking? Opposition defensive lines would not look forward to playing Miami...
