I am talking about now a days, back then is a different story. But now, Cano and Ortiz are friends, and there is really no beef between the players. I think a lot of it died in 2004

Human life always trumps sports rivalries. Definitely a classy move by the Yankees as well as the other MLB teams that did similar things. This is so much bigger than sports.

Yeah it was a much different time back then, players usually stayed on the same teams for their whole career. Now guys switch teams all the time, have the same agents, do commercials together etc.

I actually don't think the 2004 teams hated each other. I think their were certain players that were disliked by the other teams (Pedro, Arod, Sheffield) but in general the rivalry was more about the fans.

So Jeter won't be back on May 1st after all as he's still not game ready and now is scaling back his work outs. The Yankees aren't calling it a "setback" they are simply saying he's "taking to do too much too soon".

Jeter will be back when he is back.....

Grandy is someone who will be back sooner rather than later....again, no need to rush Tex or Jeter....A-Rod I hope tries his damest to get back and re-injures himself...

AJ is throwing a No hitter, had a perfect game going to the 6th then hit a guy. He just needed a change of scenery from NY. The new york pressure is not for anyone. CC had a good game tonight minus the first inning.

I love it, doing all the little things. Man I gotta say I love the 2-out hits this year, I hope they keep that up and they seem to be much better this year with runners in scoring position.

Gardner 2 strikes guy throws a fastball outside part of the plate, Gardy sticks the bat out and pokes it over the SS head......pretty refreshing....

 the only one who I really can't wait to come back is Granderson. I would love to see Arod come back and shut up his critics. Will he? Not likely, but I would love to see it. I am happy with the way the Yankees are playing right now! I think they can keep this up to be honest, I mean sure there will be times during the year where they go through a rough patch. but I do think this team is stronger then people think. Yankees seem to have luck with projects with Hafner and Wells in the past. Again its early in the season.

I am done with A-Rod, I am always team first and I have rooted for A-Rod to do well when he plays in part because he is the "villain"....but the guy is an ***&ole and brings the team and the organization down....my only hope is they get him somehow for something and he gets a lifetime ban (wishful thinking I know Finkle I know)....

Hey could he put up 30-120 again while playing 3B/DH? maybe but highly highly unlikely and without juice almost impossible....he is more likely to be a 260/280-----15/25-----70/80 guy with less range than Jeter in a position where you dont need as much.....

    Point being?

You can get those stats from the Youk's of the world for 20M+ less dollars a year.....

God I wish the MLB was the NFL structure....

Jeter made an unscheduled trip to NC to see the doctor that did his ankle surgery....

I wouldn't be shocked if he's out past the ASG, maybe longer. And again I really do question his production upon return, especially running wise and on defense. And based on his age it might be the beginning of the end of him at SS.

EDIT: Cashman confirmed Jeter has a small crack in the bone in the area of the previous injury. Doesn't expect him back until "sometime after the All Star break".

Back by the All-Star break if they are lucky Fink. He basically re-broke his ankle. Sad.

    Oh well keep driving on.

Man Cashman looks like a genius so far. If these guys keep it up then man got to give Cashman a lot of credit for realizing these guys are not done yet. Wells and Hafner have been clutch for us. And now Pettitte is 3-0! Lets keep this up! Honestly this is the best I have seen the Yankees play in a long time!

Teixeira still not cleared to hit off a tee or soft toss yet. Taking it very slow with his wrist.

Wonder when he'll be back, if he is at all. Maybe June 1st is a realistic target date right now?

Running, light throwing, hasn't swung yet, supposed to this weekend however. With him when he gets cleared for full activity he willl come back soon as he is a clean break on a non-weight bearing bone you know?

Also the Yanks positive start affords them a little lee-way...

Yeah, but he still needs to get what 50 live at bats (basically about 2 weeks full of games) or so first. So he should be back by mid-May at the latest assuming everything goes well.

He can take ALL the time he needs Wells has been a pleasant surprise so far....

Ortiz was also just a DH. Granderson needs to get his "sea legs" back by playing the field etc.

Well if you count ST, then, even more than that. It's a shame and hopefully Youkilis is fine and back (no pun intended) shortly, especially since he was playing very well. However this, unfortunately, is the Youkilis Sox fans were use to since the 2010 season where he just can't stay healthy for an extended period of time. It was probably wishful thinking on anyone's part that he would play 130 games this year, which is one of the reasons I blasted Cashman for not signing any decent back ups for depth.

Fun fact, while looking up his stats his career high for games played is only 147. I'm actually kind of surprised by this. If you asked me I would have probably said 158 games or so as I don't remember Youkilis being hurt early in his career. But then again the whole interleague thing and Ortiz did play 1B a lot then, so makes sense.
