He would have to REALLY want to be a Knick for that to happen imo. But sure, where do i sign. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Earl Barron. Carmelo's failures are very real. Nothing to do with team success. everything to do with his drop in efficiency.
While I like many things about him, somebody had to be held responsible for how the team performed down the stretch. Almost no effort, little energy, and ridiculously poor defense.
Things are different this year though. He's got a flame this time around, and it won't be extinguished.
When the Knicks beat Miami in the ECF I'm sure it will be the officials... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Well we will see just how legit those stories were with CP3, Amare and Melo when they discussed this at melo's wedding. It wont be via FA signing if it happens, it will be a sign and trade. Theres a reason the Knicks stayed below the cap threshold for how much salary they can accept back. They even kept their 3M trade exception which they always find a way to give away because thats just what the Knicks usually do (throw away money for stupid reasons). Thats probably the 2nd or 3rd option for him depending on what you think is legit. Say what you will about Cuban but he knows how to win in the NBA and that is with stars. My guess is we're stuck with him but if the above scenario with CP3 comes to fruition I wont be upset with that. Hes only got 2 years left on his deal. Otherwise I try and work something out for Dirk or Pau who have 1 year deals left and then retool around Melo. And why did efficiency drop? Competition level increased. Why does that fall on solely on Carmelo when the failure was that if his supporting cast? Because stars always get blamed. See: James, Lebron (2010 in particular but you can go prior to that as well). Also, Im going to say George Karl is not a good playoff coach. Hes a fine regular season coach but his system and philosophies lend themselves more to a good regular season which is why even after Melo is gone his teams struggle in the playoffs. He fails to realize that the playoffs is more about talent then rotation depth and less about perimeter or fast break play then it is getting to the foul line, playing defense and stopping transition baskets. His teams have repeatedly failed in those areas
But Boik. Lebron and Wade (as well as Paul, and many others) INCREASE OVR. efficiency in the playoffs. Why does Melo get a pass?
And the AAA will be MSG South. Some of the corporate d-bags in MSG disgust me anyway. These are the same people who cheered Kobe when he lit us up for 60+. Any self respecting Knick fan would have talked so much smack Kobe would have missed shots because he was laughing too hard.
Different types of players. Melo NEEDS a supporting cast, particularly ones that can hit open jumpers because hes going to play in the paint quite a bit. Hes an elite player but hes elite as a scorer only. Those other players can make players around them better by putting them in position to hit shots around the rim. Melo makes players better by drawing attention from the other teams best defenders but that doesnt work unless other players knock down shots.
All that matters is this year. We all know where the bar is set. Time too take care of buisness. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
The other option you have with Amare is if you do try and trade him see what teams are apprehensive about giving a player a long term deal. DeMarcus Cousins/Tyreke Evans, Kevin Love, and Derrick Favors are among the bigs that havent been paid yet but are coming up in the next year or two. You could try and build a S&T around one of them where you can try and minimize how many bad contracts you would have to take back.
And we'll talk about the 2012 Knicks as a thing of the past come June. Should I ship you the KY Jelly now or when the ECF actually starts?
Any chance the Knicks can add Alan Houston to the playoff roster in case we play the Heat?? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
you have no idea how much we LAUGH at that now. D-Wade would eat Alan Houston, then break his nose as he poops him out. We fear no human. Last guy that gave us the poopy pants is now our 6th man.
Honest question: do you even notice the crowds during Knicks @ Heat games? Because this is just plain wrong.
It better be. because last year...all of this happened in the Knicks/Heat series: A) Heat almost set record for margin of victory in a NBA playoff game. B) Baron Davis career ended. C) Iman Shumpert's knee exploded, after a week of talk of him locking down Dwyane Wade. At the time of the injury, Wade was shooting 61%. D) Amare Stoudemire got in a fight with a Fire Extinguisher. The Fire Extinguisher won. It then opened a Twitter Account. Hilarity ensued. E) The Heat was down by almost 20 in Game 3. They erased the deficit within 5 minutes, and ended up winning by 17. F) The Heat was an inch away from sweeping. ESPN spent two days ripping Lebron for letting Wade attempt the GW shot. G) Confetti was dropped after the Knicks won their first playoff game in 12 years. H) Series ended in 5, after the Knicks allowed the Heat to set a franchise record in offensive efficiency for a playoff series in the three home games.
Last year was a strike shortened season that will forever have an asterisk. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
