Pound per pound he seems like one of the more athletic guys this draft, which has me wondering what his play would look like if he only had to carry 305 pounds.

Personally, I'm not fond of having both starting defensive tackles hitting FA next year w/o an insurance policy in place, so I'd take a DT early this year if the value is there.... or even consider trading up for the right guy if he slips far enough to where there's value in trading up.

Interesting note on D.J. Hayden. Not necessarily big deal. Just putting it here in case I'm ever writing anything about him and I need to pull together a bunch of things I'd previously gathered.

In an interview during spring ball heading into the 2012 season, Houston's head coach said he's interviewed every kid on the team individually and between 6 or 8 of them specifically singled out Hayden as having taken the time to help them out with their technique and get little things, being a leader, etc.

UH’s Hayden shows off speedy recovery to NFL scouts

D.J. Hayden answered questions about his near-fatal injury during a visit with medical personnel at the NFL combine. On Monday, Hayden showed he hasn't lost a step. Hayden was clocked at a blazing 4.33 seconds in the 40-yard dash as representatives from 27 NFL teams watched the University of Houston's pro day at the Athletics/Alumni Center.

It was the first public workout for the cornerback since the tearing of his inferior vena cava, the main vein that carries blood from the lower half of the body to the heart, during a Nov. 6 practice.

"It's the most unique injury in the history of the draft," said Alonzo Highsmith, the senior personnel executive for the Green Bay Packers. "The only people that ever had it aren't alive, and doctors have never seen it."

Jesus. Mike Mayock now puts Hayden as his #1 corner in the Draft. Going a little TOO far now, lol. But it's a decent question to me whether Dee Milliner, Xavier Rhodes or D.J. Hayden will be the best corner to come out of this class. It's tough to answer. I can't fault anyone for coming out with one over the others.

Here are the Dolphins' six mock drafts so far:

MockOne: DE Ezekiel Ansah, CB Johnthan Banks, WR Robert Woods, OT Dallas Thomas, S Tony Jefferson, WR Mark Harrison, CB Brandon McGee, TE Joseph Fauria

MockTwo: DE Bjoern Werner, WR Cordarrelle Patterson, TE Travis Kelce, S Shamarko Thomas, CB D.J. Hayden, OG Hugh Thornton, TE Joseph Fauria, QB Peter Lalich

MockThree: DE Bjoern Werner, WR Keenan Allen, TE Zach Ertz, CB Robert Alford, CB Brandon McGee, OG Hugh Thornton

MockFour: CB Dee Milliner, TE Zach Ertz, CB Darius Slay, DE Sam Montgomery, WR Ryan Swope, RB Mike Gilislee, OG Omoregie Uzzi, PK Caleb Sturgis

MockFive: OT Lane Johnson, DE Alex Okafor, TE Travis Kelce, CB Jordan Poyer, DE Devin Taylor, RB Zac Stacy, CB Nickell Robey, PK Caleb Sturgis, S Zeke Motta, DT Corey Grissom

MockSix: OT Eric Fisher, CB D.J. Hayden, Pick R3-A, Pick R3-B, Pick R4, Pick R5-A, Pick R5-B, Pick R7-A, Pick R7-B, Pick R7-C

It's weird that I legitimately like MockThree least of all. I love Eric Galko and he was Assistant GM'ing for that one.

On the other hand, MockFive comes close to being as much a favorite as the one I did. And MockSix is shaping up pretty good though it should be noted he traded away a 1st rounder in 2014 to get up and take Fisher.

I think your mock would get an A+ just for having the foresight to get DJ Hayden ridiculously late, when he's in discussion as a first rounder now.

I'm not going to lie though, I'd be pretty happy with MockFive. Outside of Poyer who I'm not the biggest fan of, I can't find a pick that I don't like there. I'm a big fan of Werner, but I'm definitely not a fan of MockThree's Allen and Ertz picks.

A lot of these drafts have Travis Kelce in them, I just tweeted this out - but he averaged 10.6 yards after the catch - that's ridiculous! On average he caught the ball 5 yards from the LOS and then took it another 10.6 yards. I just can't believe that.

    1. Maybe none of them will be the best in the long run. Maybe Trufant, Taylor or Ryan will be. Or someone else even.

    2. I assume that is Devin Taylor? I like #5 the best too.

    That's incredible about Kelce.

I hope Grampa Philbin isn't ruling him out on character concerns.

I guess I feel bad about passing on Hayden with my 2nd round pick and then my 3rd round pick but I knew he was going to go later based on some reconnaissance and I was trying to figure out a trade up for him too. I had him targeted pretty much 100 picks in advance and just sweated it out the whole time.

This is semi-relevant, since you drafted Fauria (whose name I still can't pronounce along with Lemonier) and I don't have time to write up another TE post.

Fauria averaged a pitiful 2.2 yards after the catch in 2012. However, around 12% of his yardage came in the red zone (the other TEs averaged around 6%) and nearly 25% of his receptions came in the red zone. 80% of his total receptions resulted in a first down or touchdown. It was already known he was a red zone threat, but that certainly confirms it. He also dropped 2.2% of passes.

Fauria is pronounced Four-ee-aye and Lemonier is usually pronounced Lemon-ear, but at the combine it was reported he said it should be pronounced Lemon-wah

Yeah Fauria is not a big RAC guy at all. Even less so than Eifert and that's been my biggest area of concern about Eifert. But as you say, Fauria is HELL to deal with in the red zone for a defense. Pure hell.

MockSix is in the books. The GM took my advice a lot more as the Draft wore on. His initial trade of picks #12, #42, the 2014 1st rounder, and the 2014 3rd rounder to trade up to pick #3 for Eric Fisher was, IMO, a mistake. I voted strongly against but the GM did it anyway.

From there though he got D.J. Hayden. Vance McDonald, Brian Schwenke, Cornelius Washington, Mark Harrison, Chris Jones and Peter Lalich.

He overruled me on Dennis Johnson, taking Zac Stacy instead. Also, he took Dustin Hopkins the kicker. But overall he let me have my way on most picks from Hayden onward.

What the sh-t, man? Two 1sts, 2nd, and 3rd for a tackle? That's insanity. Hope the other guy at least gave him a handkerchief when it was over.

Could've had Tavon Austin and his choice of Armstead or Watson at 42 plus kept next year's 1st & 3rd, or possibly even used next year's 2nd to trade 2a up for Fluker in the late 20's. That hurts. I wouldn't do that deal for anything other than a franchise QB, elite WR, or elite pass rusher.

    Wasn't my call.

Will say this. This Fake GM stuff doesn't lend itself to giving two sh-ts about your draft picks in 2014. I think MockOne never should've made it possible to trade future picks.
