This is good. It makes me very very happy!!!
Not to go off on a tangent, but I just read where Ric Flair's son, Reid, passed away today. Think he was in his early 20s. I was sorry to hear that.
Maybe, just maybe we haven't given Ireland all the credit he's due...It seems as though he follows the blueprint of the coaching staff he has working for him, not the blueprint of Quitcellian, the blueprint of his coaches....gee....novel idea...
Somewhat on this subject, Boomer in Club mentioned Eddie Lacy being in play. While I am a big fan of Austin at 12, Lacy could kill two birds with one stone by fixing our running back concerns, as well as adding a lot of explosiveness to the offense. We could possibly trade down and still get him later in the first. I'm not much of a believer in "reaches" anymore what with the rookie pay scale, but 12 does seem a tad early. Just saying.
Glad we filled the hole with the best FA available. Personally, I would rather have Sean Smith back, but at least we aren't going into the draft with no good players at that position.
I love Lamar Miller! I think he's going to be really good, but it's just that he is unproven right now. In today's game I am a believer in having a good tandem. Gray might be really good and similar to Lacy, but he is even more of an unknown.
I don't think both of our starting DTs are going to walk. I think CB, DT, and S COULD be needs next season. Remember, we have the draft this season. We could draft players to sit for a season to learn.
I think it would be too, but I think we will see more of what were considered reaches a couple of years ago because of the rookie pay scale. It's much less of a risk to draft a player earlier than what conventional wisdom suggests.
lacy is nice but give me this guy imo
People are over rating Lacy, he had the best offensive line in all of College Football. He less proven then Lamar Miller. Miller is faster and has a full NFL season behind his back. [with a nice 4.9 average]
This just makes this offseason all the more better in my opinion. This is like a Madden offseason. Come on man, Wallace, Keller, Ellerbe, Wheeler, Grimes, and Lance Louis. I'm so stoked right now!
I like Lacy a lot but I don't take him unless he is available in the third round. IF he is there you take him and run.
I'd have to say you are over rating Miller. Add to that I seriously doubt he can be the predominant back. IF Gray can return to where he was in College, Miller would be the perfect change of pace back. If we are asking Lamar to pick up as many carries as Bush was getting, we are in a bad way me thinks. He won't last the season.
Here ya go lad. Let your kindly old Uncle Walter help you out...
There is absolutely no reason to doubt Lamar will last the season and if he does get as many carries as Bush this year I'd bet almost ANYTHING he has more yards and regardless of carries a better YPC
Still... If he takes one big hit per game...he wouldn't last the year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
When you see them sign a FA at a position of need to a one year deal it tells me they will be addressing tha same position fairly high in the draft. As it stands now, I see them going OT then Db or TE....
How did you come up with that number? One? Cause when I do the numbers it is more like 2.25847362497957846235435575 hits per game.
I like Lamar Miller. He's a much better runner than Bush. But there is reason to believe he can't carry the load until he goes out and proves he can do it.
apply that to any rookie coming into the NFL⦠not a one of them has proven they can carry an NFL load for a season. Heck, Lacy (who most consider the best RB in this years draft) didnt even carry the full load for the Tide last year.
He has proven more than any rookie this year, since he played and played well in the NFL already. That's what I don't understand about this Miller needs to prove himself stuff...its not like there's an Andrew Luck of running backs coming out this year, so how is Miller behind ANY rookie?
If you interpret his mantra of spending high picks on "core" positions, then one could surmise that were not looking at RB at 12. As it is, dont think Ireland wont spend a #1 pick on a RB, seeing that he can pluck a guy like Miller in round four.
I think Ireland is making his own blueprint. He has been washing away all vestiges of the Bill Parcells blueprint and the vision Parcells had for the Dolphins. I am not totally convinced yet but I am encouraged and optimistic and can't wait to see what they can do with this draft.
''I picked Miami because I think they are building something great here, and I would love to be a part of it.'' - Brent Grimes
What we are seeing here is the continuation of a pattern. Players wanting to play for Jeff Ireland is nothing new. #extendireland
Or just pretty much the same thing every free agent says when they sign with a new team. But I'm happy Ireland is signing players to fill holes.
LAST YEAR: No one will sign with us. We're the laughing stock of the NFL!!!! THIS YEAR: All the free agents coming in talk about that we're building something special, and yet all FAs say that kind of stuff. Sigh then lol then sigh.
Take a deep breath and relax, Fin. Even us "haters" are happy with the signings Ireland is getting done. If the results come through on the field you might see a few of us coming around on the guy. My opinion is Ireland's and this team's fate is ultimately tied to Tannehill and I'm rooting for both of them to be successful.
Why? He didn't talk about us being good. Just FAs are coming here, in droves and that we don't need to see wins to prove, be happy about and/or prove change is happening.
