Nice signing. See how it works this year and then resign him

Like it. Wish it was for two. But, I suspect Grimes is "banking" on a bigger pay day next year.

5.5 million. I'd rather take my chances on Grimes and lease him out a year than know what we have with SS24 and commit to 4 more years.

Hopefully, Ireland will use multiple picks in the draft to upgrade the talent at corner, and if Grimes has a monster season, we can let him walk when he goes to collect his fat paycheck.

Great news! One less glaring weakness gives better options for the draft

Yup. All about options..This puts a certain WR back in play. We don't have to draft a CB in the first or second now.. We can find one later on or use both our 3rds on the secondary and give them a bit more time to develop.

One thing with one year deals , if for whatever reason that player doesn't resign ,him leaving adds to the count for compensatory picks , so one or two such signings and end result could mean a 4th or 5th pick as an addition.

Really like the signing and the 1 year, like many said see how it goes this year, if it works out re-sign him if not get someone in draft this year that can take over. But with added dline lb and now 1 cb, along with improvements on Offense, we need to take a serious step forward this year.

Grimes is talented enough that if he comes back and plays well you re-sign him. He's young enough to still be a core piece for you

I like the idea of one year. That's what Ireland was offering all along (with the Browns offering two, probably for a little more).

I think it's best for everyone. The guy is coming of a pretty serious injury, and while there have been a lot of great comeback stories recently, let's not forget that it's not the easiest thing to recover from.

If he doesn't pan out, then we'll all be glad that we're not stuck with him for a minute longer than we need to be. On the other hand, if he plays well-to-OK, then I'm sure he'll give us first crack at re-signing him.

If he wants too much, then best wishes. We'll have helped each other out.

I wouldnt cut Patterson, he is good vs slot, just not outside. I would not cut anyone until after the draft and even then let players compete for spots behind Grimes and the draft pick

I'm pretty sure that if he were here and healthy last year, he would've been our best WR

Excellent. I think that pretty much means we won't be taking a corner at 12 assuming Patterson and Marshall aren't released anytime soon.

We have so much flexibility in the draft it's crazy. And i love it! I think we are poised to pounce on any top talent that slips. Werner and Star are very strong possibilities if none of the tackles fall.

Cool! Now all the whining over not signing a FA CB can stop.
One year deal works nicely for all.

I don't really think this signing affects the 1st pick much, if they like Rhodes enough they'll take him there. I want Cordarrelle Patterson but I'd be fine with Rhodes, our secondary is nowhere near complete. I don't think Marshall or Dimitri Patterson will make the roster, one or the other maybe but not both.

Great news, if healthy? He could be our best FA pick up. We needed this signing badly.

  38. -hoped we would sign him.
-hoped it was a 1 year deal.

Yea well I've come to the conclusion that Ireland hates drafting a receiver high, he wouldn't even take a WR early when we had the worst corps in football, what makes you think he'll take one in the 1st now?

Funny thing is if Ireland can somewhat replicate my mock on draft day we can have both guys.
