Ravens have the ultimate piece though in a franchise QB. Even if they suck this year, they could easily rebuild.

Wonder if it comes with a happy ending.

That is true actually. Development Wallace has gotten however didn't happen at Ole Miss.

You referring to Gibson. I read last night that Gibson was actually rated in the top 50 free agents by some publications. I will try to find the list I found that had him in the top 50. They liked his potential, abeit as a Hartline type.

Got to start looking at cbs. That situation is about as set as TE, and I would argue in worse shape. I am hoping for Lewis, Cason, or Munnerlyn, or all three.

If they are trying to move Bess....what could he feasibly get us? I can't see them paying out for a #4 WR....so this just makes me think it's got to be Bess on the outs.

Cason was one of my favorite college corners of the past 10 years. He had good ball skills at Arizona, and I was hoping we'd draft him. So if he is signed that would make me happy. Best in a zone, and we are said to be changing to more zone so he fits, and fits better than Sean Smith would.

I only like this Gibson thing if we are pulling in a 4th round pick for Bess, which ain't happenin' folks.

So yeah I hate this. I only want Bess gone if we draft Bailey.

If they sign Keller, that's one more piece...could they then want to see if Egnew can develop before throwing him off the heap ?? Keller also throws some intrigue into who we choose in the draft...

Don't think about Egnew. It'll just make you really confused and angry that a 6'5 260 lb man who runs a 4.52 40 with a 11 foot broad jump and 37 inch vertical and 22 bench reps can't get on a football field to make plays.

I just want to see him get a chance. For many reasons. I can and have pointed to many plays he made in college (we're talking eye poppers) against the likes of Lavonte David and Arthur Brown and other standout NFL players in college. To this day his preseason catch against the Buccaneers was probably the 2nd most or maybe even most impressive catch any Miami tight end had last year. I've pointed out coaches tape still frames showing he's open on plays.

If it's a matter of playbook, yeah maybe he didn't quite get that down in his first year, but how long can anyone really go without knowing the playbook? That's not going to be a career impacting problem, will it?

I haven't given up on Egnew at all. It was frustrating that they wouldn't play him at all. My understanding/assumption was that they didn't trust his blocking, but the interest in Cook and Keller tells me they aren't that concerned about blocking from the TE position. Anyhow, there have been many TE's that did virtually nothing as rookies and still became great NFL players. And the limited PT that Lamar Miller got even after flashing pretty well in limited opportunities tells me the offensive coaches may have been excessively cautious about playing young skill position players (Of course, the fact that Tannehill started from Week 1 suggests otherwise, but . . .).

I don't believe it was the blocking. IMO it was that he wasn't very smart. He didn't make the right adjustments and he didn't know the playbook.

IIRC they were worried about him making mistakes. I'm not sure if he isn't smart, it seems more of an issue of him being nervous/tentative/absent-minded out there.

I think nerves is a good way to put it as people that have spoken with him say he's very smart, and I've read the things he's written on his blog/website and there's no doubting it, IMO.

I think he's just got kind of a soft, nervous temperament. He lacks confidence.

Could be, but I think you expect rookies to make some mistakes, but usually try to get that out of their system early. If you need to build confidence, use him in situations where the mental demands are pretty limited but where he can get used to playing, etc. They acted like they were worried the grass might catch fire if Egnew stepped onto it.

Barnes, Lewis, Munnerlyn, and Cason. That would be a great haul on defense. And Winston, Keller, and a rb and wr if reasonable. Notice I didn't say Gibson, but I am not as bothered by his presence as some of you are. I still believe one or two wrs will be drafted, with a kid like Vernon from Duke late in the draft maybe. I expect at least 2 cbs, a safety, and a tight end as well, not to mention OL help.

    Agreed.

If we're right, its very possible Ritchie said it to mess with Egnew, like Egnew was around when it was said.

I just wonder if that philosophy will work for Egnew. This is a third round pick, and he needs to contribute. What ever comes from the team regarding him should stay within the club house. I want Egnew to succeed. He is being called unintelligent, passionless, and so forth. He needs to be encouraged. I want him to bring his talents to the field.

I just remember that exchange on Hard Knocks where Richie rubbed it in on Egnew that he stole his iPad and messed around on Facebook with it. He said something like, "Who's that girlfriend of yours, the ugly one."

Egnew just looked back at him and said, "That's my fiancee".

    (insert awkward moment)

    (everyone walks off)

I could see Richie Incognito being the kind of guy that would lose a little respect for Egnew because he didn't stand up and defend his fiancee. From Richie's face you could tell he knew he might have just stepped over the line. But Egnew said nothing. Absolutely nothing.
