He's not 6'7. I think that's a typo. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/members/ratings/profile.php?pyid=82761 http://www.ekusports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3972&path=football http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/tyrone-goard?id=2539945 I know the combine part of nfl.com says 6'7 and walterfootball repeated it, but I'm not ready to buy it.
The coverage on NFLN left a lot to be desired this year. Such as the TE forties. Both runs when it was Gragg and Furstenberg's turns, the 2 fastest TEs, they go to commercial break. Eisen says after they come back that they'll show Gragg running, but I don't think they ever did. Stitches said he watched the combine on nfl.com and there were no commercials, and if I'd have thought of it in time or realized the difference I would have too.
LOL no he's not 6'7". He's 6036 as measured at the Shrine weigh-in. He caught my eye during Shrine practices though. Some there just swore all he was was a vertical guy. But I think he's more than just a vertical guy. He ran really well at 6'4" height with 34 inch arms. This whole WR class is full of decent roll of the dice type of role players.
Seriously, when he ran a 4.34 that sealed him as a top of round 2 candidate, imo. I could even see a team like Baltimore drafting him in round 1 - if they are losing Boldin and depending on who else is drafted earlier in round 1. In fact, he reminds me of Boldin in terms of a thick body and ability to break tackles (not the same hands, of course, but better speed). If he's there in round 2 and Miami lets him get past that - then it will be disappointing. Another thing I like about him is his intensity. He makes all of Miami's current WR's (except the game-breaker Hartline, of course) look like prissy boys. You can see it on the broken tackles, the intensity in the running and when he makes a play he is still intense! If he stays healthy he'll be a starter for someone. And, he made himself a good bit of money yesterday.
That means more than the forty times. He did that against the best D in college football. In all the debate about the validity of his official 40 time, his vertical seemed to get overlooked. That 37" just cements how much lower unit explosion he has.
The real question is if you're there in the 3rd round and you need a WR still, and Stedman Bailey and Swope are both there, who do you take?!?
Of all the times run, Swope’s was probably the most surprising. Draft analysts questioned his straight-line speed and acceleration beforehand. Mayock didn’t even have him listed as one of his five best receivers in this year’s draft before this weekend. “I love to see that,” Mayock added. “When you see a guy who you don’t expect to run mid-4.3s, it forces you to go back and watch tape, and that’s what I’m going to do.” Swope would be an intriguing option, considering his history with Ryan Tannehill. They played together at Texas A&M, with Swope catching 89 passes for 1,207 yards and 11 touchdowns Tannehill’s senior year. “That would be cool,” Swope said, when asked about a potential reunion. “That chemistry that me and Ryan had was special.” Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/02/25/3252193/surprising-times-put-wide-receivers.html#storylink=cpy
I wouldn't know what a gay porn description sounds like. I'm impressed that you have the courage to come out of the closet and profess your knowledge of them though.
Especially if we resign Hartline. Teams are not allowed two starting white WRs. Can't recall any since the Jets had George Sauer and Don Maynard, or the Packers with Boyd Dowler and Carroll Dale.
This is what I realized about Swope's speed after watching his highlights videos… He may not play at 4.34 but he always plays faster then the guy that is chasing him.
The two receivers I like the best for Miami's WCO are Keenan Allen and Ryan Swopes. Both will produce. I would be perfectly happy drafting both.
A lot of anger in this thread ... Over a 40 time? Lol. Good for him. Followed him since tanny talk first started, would love to see him a phin.
Did Swope go for the fist bump and Ryan went with the "paper over rock" hand grab? That's a level of awkward that even I rarely achieve.
Interesting Swope trick shots, shows excellent reflexes and hand eye coordination in the tennis ball piece that starts at :49 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqojIuOdJ3k&feature=player_embedded
