On Path to the Draft today they were talking about players in this draft worth trading up for. It got me thinking. The Dolphins actually have the ammunition this year to move up to 5 or 6 by giving up a 2nd and that would still leave them with 3 more picks total in rounds 2 and 3. The question is, is there a player worth moving up for if he falls to one of those picks? I think I might be willing to do it for Dee Milliner. He has the ability to be a shut down corner in a league where those types of players are very rare. I might think about it with Dion Jordan too. If the Dolphins weren't loaded set at DT I would probably do it for Star or Floyd if they were to get to 5, but I just couldn't give up that kind of value when DT is really the strength of the team right now. Is there a player or players you would be willing to trade a 2nd rounder to move up for?

In my eyes, the only person I would trade up for are Lane Johnson or Eric Fisher. Even then I wouldn't trade up. Too many needs and the 2nd and 3rd round is littered with capable WRs and TEs that could help us out.

No one is worth moving up from 12. Would rather move down and get an extra 2 or 3.

    Patterson:

Phins need TDs (redzone threat), and a WR who can take top of the D. Those are the two main complaints and redzone threat is the biggest need on this team.
Patterson provides both, he is big, fast, quick, has explosion, adjusts to ball well. And there is no such combo in this draft, or other drafts unless you happen to be picking in top ten when such talent comes out.

Downside with trading up for Patterson at the top of first round is that he is a #2 receiver, not a #1.

For me, I'd rather trade down for more picks. Or trade one of the Second's for a First next year. We still have some pretty big holes. Getting extra picks is the way to build this team.

IMO, the only reason you trade up is if you feel there is one player that will put your team over the top. I don't think there is ONE player that will do that for us.

I'm not really a draft person but I think it's unlikely the team has the kind of internal motivation to trade up. If there was some sort of position of screaming need likely to go a couple of picks ahead it would be different, but that's not really the case it seems.

Unless you're giving up a later pick to move up a couple spots I would not trade up for either of those guys. The Dolphins have invested a lot of valuable resources into the offensive line. If an offensive lineman is the BPA and the Dolphins have left themselves without any bigger needs after FA, then taking one at 12 is one thing. Spending another high pick (12) along with sending a 2nd in the process is bad value management IMO.

I still think I'd do it for Milliner. Having a guy that can lock down half the field is a huge asset in the NFL. The Dolphins aren't in need of more solid players. The team has plenty of those. What they need are blue chip types. Milliner is a blue chip type.

If we mean trading up from 12, no one.

But if we mean trading up into the bottom of the first round to get a player, there could be some value there. For instance if a Tyler Eifert were there at 28, or a Ziggy Ansah at 28. This are guys you consider packaging a two and a three to get.
