To be fair to Jason Cole, he started in So Fla and covered Dolphins and has ties in So Fla.

I'd like to watch some of Gragg. I took Reed off my board when I realized he's even shorter and lighter than I originally hoped. Too much of a liability in the run game, and if you put him in there it telegraphs pass so he ends up with a CB on him, nullifying his mismatch potential.

If Egnew develops, it will be a HUGE win for this team, the coaching staff, and front office.

Agree there. Especially with his background coaching tight ends. But still, if Sherman doesn't see what HE wants to see from Egnew, none of it will matter.

So what? It does Ireland & Co absolutely no good to let the rest of the NFL know who our top target is. Common sense.

No waay we actually have Escobar atop our board.. and let it leak. That'd be obtuse.

IMO Escobar could end up being fine, but I don't see him as likely to ever be a special player. That's basically how I feel about most of this TE draft.

I don't know about special, but I think Jake Stoneburner is a lot better than he's being billed as (I think I've said that before).

There is never a reason to be fair to Jason Cole.

He's a scum bucket sensationalist, who'd rather create stories than report them.

What would the Fireland crowd have to complain about then?

Escobar may be our highest rated tight end, but there is no way in hell he is our #1 overall player.

I think he could be a case of being a better pro than a college player. OSU didn't exactly have QBs that were brilliant passers while he was there, and even at that, he was pretty limited in opportunities within the offense - most catches he ever had in a season was 21, as a sophomore.

What's your 'Con" against Eifert, who seems the best of a decent, if not stunning, bunch?

Well, it's a little dicier when the player is two or three or four rounds deep in the draft.

and that's the other thing, if we take Escobar in the second I have to say, the FO has him over-valued. We'll see what happens.

Could you imagine? If we saw the war room big board photo later and that's how it was stacked... highest rated player in this year's class: Gavin Escobar, 92 grade. lol.

I seldom see YAC from Eifert, and this maybe due to his often having to extend and reach for off target throws and not able to keep his feet. I've not seen many TEs so seldom hit in stride and have to work so hard for so many catches. Escobar looks pretty good gobbling up yards down field with the ball in his hands. Smooth powerful stride IMO. I think he looks far faster on the field than he ran at the combine.

Could you imagine if Ireland took Escobar at 12?! I'm sure Mr C is right, that he's top our our TE board rather than our overall board, but could you imagine.

I don't even think Jason Cole's report implies he's the highest rated TE on our board necessarily. You can target a guy that isn't necessarily the highest on your board, just because you think he's going to represent the best value where he goes.
