If that's the case then Swope's 40 might be the first combine run that I can I can recall where his result was artificially enhanced rather than detracted from. I doubt it. Swope was a track guy in high school and renowned for his speed then- other players look faster, Wheaton for example, but Swope is the one who blew the doors off with a 4.3. He's fast, so just get used to it. Tannehill tried to warn you and others, to no avail.

If anyone truly thinks Swope is only .07 slower than a world class track guy (Goodwin) who runs a 6.7 60 meter & 10.24 100, then I don't know what to say.

OK, I will ask… Why would the NFL post that he ran a 4.34 40 if he didnt? Why would they post that Goodwin ran a 4.27 40 if he didnt? How does the NFL benefit from that?

He just proved that, as for on a track. The clock don't lie.

He ran a 10.50 100 meters in high school, not bad.

Again, Swope is fast, bottom line.

I think the thing that matters is what MikeSherman's opinion is of him, and he probably won't rattle off forty times or inches of any sort - I think that probably helps Ryan Swope.

    So now it's a 4.3 flat huh?
You realize you're trying to put Swope on the same level as CJ Spiller, an ALL AMERICAN 60 METER TRACK GUY? Sorry but that's insanity!

Put Spiller's tape on side by side with Swope and tell me Swope is even remotely close to Spiller.

    Swope's best time was a wind-aided 10.7 100 meter.
Do you know how 10.7 would rank this year in high school? 232nd!

    Meanwhile Spiller's 10.22 100m would be good for 4th.
....and his 6.65 60m would've placed him 8th in the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championship

Yes, it was a 4.34. We've had this discussion before, CJ Spiller included. Swope's official time is 4.34, so just digest it and use it as a tool to adjust your opinion of him. Iirc last time you said he was a 4.55 guy, no way he cracks a 4.4. Well, he did. If you can dig up film of him being caught form behind I'd like to see it, I already showed you film of him easily pulling away and scoring.

As to the 100 meter time, I provided the link earlier- he's in the record books at 10.50.

How do Austin and Goodwin run step for step but have a discrepancy of 0.07?

As you referred to earlier I saw the replay- they were very close but Goodwin clearly beat him and we're talking about 7/100ths of a second here, so let's not get carried away.

How can you arrive at that conclusion when it's not fully automated timing?

I was not a Swope fan when I watched Tannehill's snaps, but I haven;t focused on Swope alone.

I'll check it out. My first impression was that he's mediocre and drops some passes at times he shouldn't (timing of drops matters to me).

Bull**** you did. You showed him maintaining the same rate of separation vs 4.5 and slower guys (one timed at 4.54), and you showed him barely pulling away from a timed 4.74 linebacker, so don't give me this "easily pulling away" nonsense.

That's listed by his own damn high school! That crap doesn't count.
Here are two links to the legitimate stuff (both list 10.7 as his fastest):
    http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Athlete.aspx?AID=614140
    http://tx.milesplit.com/teams/AUSW/records

He also ran an 11.00 at the Region 4-5A meet. It'd take a broken toe for Spiller to run 11.0.

yes, I do, and I'm not the only one b/c that bogus 10.5 time recorded by his own damn high school isn't recognized ANYWHERE outside of his own damn high school.

That's a state championship site, what I said is that Swope ran a 10.5, that's what his high school listed- and your position is that they're lying? Sorry, I'll go with the high school on this one.

And yes, I showed clips where Swope pulled away from defenders, feel free to post clips of him getting caught from behind if you can find them.

You're fighting a losing battle, going back to your Spiller comments months ago. Swope ran a 4.34 at the combine, which is notorious for slowing players down, not speeding them up. Just suck it up, realize that he's faster than you thought he was, and you can go back to defending Ansah and his remedial pass rushing skills.

When I was watching Tannehill, Swope definitely caught my eye. I said to myself "Self, this guy can play."

One thing I noticed was that I kept hearing that Jeff Fuller was A&M's best receiver, when in fact it was Ryan Swope. He stood out. His understanding of situations really stands out to me. Go back and look at Tannehill's film. When he was on the move, take notice at what receiver was getting the ball. Swope does a great job of adjusting his route and working himself back to the quarterback when the pocket breaks down.

He strikes me as a guy who does all the little things right and is tough, what you'd expect from a #2 WR- but he's fast like a #1. He'll help some team win games in the NFL.

He's reaching- it's, it's it;s... the clock's fault! Well, what it really is is that Ryan Swope is fast and he ran an official 4.34 at the NFL scouting combine

same in that every player is partially hand timed or however they do it? If it's not fully automated then it's not actually the SAME for everyone. The simulcam of Austin & Goodwin testifies to that.

Sorry man, it just looks to me like you're really stretching to try and discredit Swope's performance. He's much faster, at least on a track, then you ever believed he was. Just live with it. I thought Escobar would run as fast as Eifert and Ertz. He didn't. So I just admit I was wrong.

when you show me TIMED PLAYERS that Swope outruns and I'll start calling him fast. I called him a 4.5 guy b/c that's what the TAPE shows he's as fast as. You listed his best plays of displaying his speed and NONE show him either pulling away from timed 4.5 and slower guys or maintaining separation from 4.3 guys like a true sub 4.4 receiver would do. What was Swope's first time BTW? 4.44?

He's obviously worked on improving his 40 yard track time, but he's yet to show ON THE FIELD that he's a sub 4.4 guy, and you've YET TO PROVE IT. One freakin hand timed 40 and suddenly you think he's as fast as NCAA track guys. Hilarious.

Dude- he just ran a 4.34 in front of the world. Give it up already, and if you find some film of him getting caught from behind, I'd like to see it. Take some of that Ansah centaur love and throw it to Swope, he deserves it. Embrace the 4.34, it's a good thing.

I really hate the label of #1 receiver and #2 receiver. The #1 receiver to me is the one that is open. In this offense, there are no #1 receivers. Who is #1 in Green Bay? Is it Jennings or Nelson? Depends on the play, IMO. They are interchangeable. IMO, that's a quality that Swope will bring. He can play in the slot at the H position and out wide at both the X and Z positions.

IMO, Cordarrelle Patterson has the ability. Keenan Allen can do it. Stedman Bailey. Quinton Patton. Ryan Swope.

Those are the ones that I feel are the best fits at the top of the draft.

So drafting two of the three (Bailey, Swope or Patton) in the late 2nd or early 3rd would be the way to go?

I like your list. Any 2 of those 3 and I think we come out great. I would imagine Swope is high on the list. Fits this offense very well, and the obvious connection with Mike Sherman.

Yes, but I think it is unlikely. IMO, Miami will probably target someone like Swope in round 2 this year and then come back next year and take a receiver in rounds 2 or 3, similar to the way Green Bay has drafted wide receivers.
