Swope with a 4.44, didn't quite match Tannehill's 4.30 expectations. Thought he looked tight running though.

Sorry T.J. Moe actually has the slowest time thus far at 4.69. Alec Lemon and Da'Rick Rogers are tied for 2nd slowest at 4.56 and that does not surprise me one bit.

Ryan Swope's 4.3 never materialized. He ran a 4.44. Good, though not great in this group.

But which positional players will he be catching passes against in the slot in the NFL? linebackers, nickel corners, and safeties? We already know he eats those guys up, no? I understand the reservation about facing corners b/c he was rarely asked to do so, but it's not like we're talking about a Ted Ginn type who lacks that quick twitch ability and explosiveness off the line and in and out of breaks. I'm less worried about Tavon doing it than a Marquis Goodwin b/c Tavon had a lot more to worry about than just route running on the outside. Imagine the playbook that kid had to learn and execute. A wide variety of routes from the slot, tailback, sweeps and the like, and punt/kick return, so to me it's understandable to me he didn't have a big role on the outside or is less developed on the outside at the moment.

I thought the 4.44 for Swope didn't match up to what the eyes showed.

Eagles GM could care less about the combine...heard him in an interview, totally downplayed the event and basically made fun of others that do...you know that whole attitude de that some take about the combine, as if they are superior and don't need it..lol.

Dimmitrof, falcon GM, respects the passion one Mike eMayock has for the event, understands that watching players side by side, keying on how they move in space equals determining matchups, and how important the event is in the evaluation.

It would scare the crap out of me if a GM talked like that..Millen was the same way.

IMO Patterson probably locked himself as the top receiver, and maybe priced himself higher than the Dolphins 12th pick. It's a shame, he looks like the real deal.

he does not play that fast..... but I'd welcome him with open arms as an upgrade over Bess. Would prefer Austin take Bess's job though.

That's real good to hear, because we know the kid is a football player, and a fine route runner.

I think the kid deserves to be considered by us based in the football things he does, but I also love the dynamic of having a connection like that that's familiar, these little things can help build culture and chemistry imo.

I disagree, I think if you have an attitude about an additional vehicle to study your players , you simply have let your ego interfere with your job, and if you can't watch the combine and it doesn't help you form an opinion about what your players can do in space and matchups, then I wouldn't trust you.

Well, he is that fast, cracked 4.4. He can do a lot of the little underneath stuff as well, which is maybe why he doesn't look fast to you. To me he's fast, tough, quick, good hands- I think that he'll be a good WR in the pros. Here's some wheels at 1:15 and some very good quicks at :41- Swope doesn;t floor me, but I like him and I think that he would be a welcome addition to our WR crew. When more WR talent is on the team, we'll see to what extent Bess and Hartline are part of the problem or part of the solution. I think that Swope has more upside that Hartline, we'll see what happens.

Curious as to what Da'Rick Rogers runs 2nd attempt, I'd like to see closer to 4.5. He's not a burner, but I expect better that 4.56.

I like Swope for a 3-4 round pick for us for those reasons too, plus he has the production from college to back it up. Wouldn't be against drafting him at all.

You say you disagree, yet everything you described sure sounds like you agree that your GM should be able to care a lot less.

I'm not sure how you interpreted that from my post, but I want my GM to care about the combine, I want him to understand movement in space and how that can translate to the next level, one can learn a lot if they know what to look for.

If you want your GM to care about the combine, then you want him to be able to care a lot less about the combine. You should only be concerned if your GM couldn't care less. :tongue2:

both. :shifty: Austin in the slot and Wheaton at flanker.

Patterson just looked great running the gauntlet line. smooth, clean, straight line, strong hand catches.

Swope just looked TERRIBLE running the gauntlet. Let every pass get in on him trying to body catch and dropped a few. That was ugly.

Wheaton looked awfully quick in that gauntlet drill, Connor Vernon looks awfully natural catching the ball and I certainly like how Marquess Wilson looked in that drill. Wilson is a darkhorse imo, good player/good fit for us to split out wide with size, wheels and hands.
