Almost sounds like Mayock hasn't spent a second watching him play and rather formulated a superficial assessment just based on his size/height.
I know this is old news but here is some perspective, Arkansas-Pine Bluff OL Terron Armstead smashed the combine 40 record for offensive linemen, running a 4.65, the next fastest OL from the last six years ran a 4.84.
I think he shows enough athleticism th be at least an average seam target and an above average redzone threat.
I'm not the best at spotting liars. Basically it boils down for myself, as to whether or not I believe Te'o or anyone else, does it effect me personally either way. Since, it doesn't negatively effect me to take Te'o at his word, I will, until someone can prove otherwise based on something more than a feeling.
The Dolphins have been checking out late-round running backs, including Cincinnati’s George Winn. … Ireland sat down with defensive end Armonty Bryant of East Central University in Ada, Okla., at the Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Game last month. … And keep an eye on Texas A&M wideout Uzoma Nwachukwu, who caught seven touchdowns this year and knows Sherman and Tannehill well. From Ben Volin
Nwachuku reminds me of Jacoby Jones and Chad Bumphis. Another one with great movement ability and decent polish but bad hands. Between Nwachuku and Bumphis though I probably take Bumphis.
Need to send a barrage of tweets/emails to NFL network that we want to see more drills, less interviews and round table chit chat. We're not tuning in to see them discuss Te'o's girlfriend issues for hours on end. If I want to watch reality TV I'll change the channel to ETV
I already sent out one tweet that Rich Eisen is still trying to decide how to appropriately respond back to so I don't wanna seem pushy by sending another.
Holy **** there are some blazing fast OTs this draft. How on earth. Ertz and Reed really disappointed.
They ran as fast or faster than what some safeties will run probably. I understand you like Gragg better than Reed, but regardless of 40 times, Reed is a fine TE prospect, and he plays faster than 4.72.
How did Ertz disappoint? He was 2nd in B/P reps among TEs. He had a faster 10 yd split than Saint Tyler did.
So... Eifert seems like the only TE worthy of a first round selection. Te'o... funny... IMO he wasn't "serious enough" on some of those answers... seems to think it's funny. There are 18 teams left to interview him.. wonder if the Dolphins are one? Would love to know. It's funny..... prior to the BCS Champ game, there was no way he was lasting till the 12th pick, now? He's probably a "reach" at 12. Totally offbase... Nick Becton, T from Virginia Tech... sleeper. He looked good... looks athletic... 35.5 in arms. I was intrigued by watching him in the drills today.
Other then his verticle jump I don't know what anyone could classify as disappointing in Ertz' performance. Problem is that people seem to either be in the Eifert or Ertz camp and have to down talk one to make the guy they like seem better. I personally don't see all the fuss about eifert but that I just my worthless opinion...
Eifert is overrated imo... don't think he is a first round prospect. Totally agreeAbout Te'o... that guy has some serious issues that are going to pop up here in the near future. His presser was almost bizarre to me... almost sounded like a politician answering questions without answering them.
This is what ******* pisses me off. It's like an either/or thing. I've said all along I like both and would be happy if we draft either one. I, as you do, prefer Ertz a little more. But oh no, not the Saint Tyler crowd. He walks on water and turns water into wine, while Ertz apparently sweeps the gutters. No props to Ertz whatsoever. Well now we see he did better in the bench, and in the 10 yd split.
Were you disappointed that Ertz had a better 10 yd split than Eifert? Were you disappointed that he did more reps on the bench than Eifert? Were you disappointed that he has bigger hands than Eifert?
Groin separation suffered at East-West Shrine practice. I saw the play he did it. It's too bad. It was a really great play, came down with the ball and everything. Ran a post corner, and accelerated through under the football the way very few tight ends in this Draft could, came down with the ball. According to what I've seen, the groin pull actually took some of the bone with it. Yowsa.
Iam very disappointed eifert didn't do better on the bench press and his 10 yard split.... I am disgusted! Lol
My not liking Zach Ertz has nothing, nothing whatsoever, to do with my opinion of Tyler Eifert. I thought Ertz was having a dreadful day until he ran the 40 and then he did a little better. I'm going to be interested in how he comes out when I re-time all these guys because there's a big disparity between his unofficial 4.65 and his "official" 4.76.
But but b ut Mr C... Eifert looked great not catching the first two passes thrown to him with the number 1 cb in the draft covering him!
Fair enough CK. I made it sound like a blanket statement, when it was really meant to be a general statement. I get the impression none of the media gurus put much distance between the two. Kiper said it was like splitting hairs to separate them.
Don't get me wrong, I do like Eifert, just not quite as much. I just don't see why so many Eifert fans cannot build him up without putting down Ertz in the process.
His broad jump, his 3 cone (anything over 7 to me is rather disappointing for a TE I'm hoping to be a seam buster), his vertical and his 40. I hoped to see more explosiveness out of him, athletically. It's true. In general I was slightly disappointed, and then relative to Eifert, I was disappointed because I frankly had figured Ertz would answer my question of "who is more athletic" with a better response than Eifert. I was wrong.
