They just didn't get there enough. Why is that? Lack of playmakers.

Why is it on the receivers and not Tannehill?

I disagree. His hand written note to Mommabilly (with ticket stub) was totally classic, possibly one of the single greatest posts in this forum.

Great post! I wonder how the Hartline apologists will spin this one. It seems to me the younger fans of the Dolphins haven't seen really good WRs on the roster for so long they forgot what it looks like.

Yes, and I've said this. Just nowhere near the extent that you can hold it against a single player in the overall composition of your team.

Michael Irvin in 1998. You want me to just do one?

You're not understanding what I'm saying- It's a good trait to have. It's not as important as it is being built up to be to make Hartline look bad.

Really, you just typed "failing" out? I would have thought you'd go for a real burn like this, bro:

buy a calculator you cheap bastard. Besides, it'd be a great opportunity to add up all the times you've left a woman disappointed.

Sure, I'll go along with that.

It's a roster composition problem, not a Brian Hartline problem however.

OMG You just compared Hartline to Michael Irving....I think I'm going to **** myself and projectile vomit because I'm laughing so hard.

Find me where Irving in his prime scored three touchdowns over three seasons. BTW I wouldnt even say MI played in the modern NFL. The game has changed IMMENSELY since then.

All great WR's may have down years in scoring. Fine. We can live with that. But they don't have down careers. By the way I've already proven that Hartline has subpar production even aside from TD's. Those 42 yards a game sure helped us move the ball! I dont know what we would do without him.

Even if he did you would still laugh at it because he's Brian Hartline and he compared him to Michael Irvin.

You didn't prove anything. You took away his best games because he's Brian Hartline and your Alex44 so that's what you do.

You would think if you had that kind of reverence for Michael Irvin, you'd spell his name correctly.

And if you were a good poster, you'd probably have read the post and been able to understand the context. I didn't say Brian Hartline was like Michael Irvin, and that should be pretty clear.

which is odd considering how quickly Hartline goes down. Ehh, maybe Alex prefers more of a challenge, at least a hug or some cuddle time first. :shifty:

I haven't sifted through this thread but are people arguing we should/shouldn't resign Hartline or that he is/isn't a #1 WR???

I would love to have him on the roster as a #2 WR, I however in no way shape or form believe he is anything resembling a #1. Around 4.5 M sounds about right.

He's part of the problem because he is among the incumbent skill position players on the roster.

    No, because you were wrong.

I also found it funny after I actually read phinsnational's post. Considering your reaction to his post you would think he posted some factual evidence against Hartline but all he did was give an opinion.

There's no way the ceiling isn't higher with a WR who's a great TD threat though. Def want those other options like a recieving TE either way.

People are arguing that he isn't good and that he should be signed to deal that averages MAYBE 2.5 million a season.

I guess you can call him part of the problem, but I'm not sure it's a noteworthy amount. You have five skill position players to get plays out of. You're not going to have more than one or two of those guys who some of the people on these forums would write their names in a heart on their trapper-keeper over.

Why is Tannehill's fault Hartline can't make plays with the ball in his hand?.... isn't a threat to win 50-50 balls?.... isn't a threat on a fade in the EZ?.... isn't a threat to outrun defenders to the EZ despite having daylight?.... drops 2 TDs in the EZ?

Why is it Tannehill's fault Hartline had the ball in his hands 74 times but could only convert those opportunities into 1 damn TD (a broken coverage TD at that)? Why aren't you blaming Hartline's 1 TD in 74 opportunities for lowering Tannehill's scoring production?

Receivers who can actually score don't need excuses made for them like you're doing WADR.
Did Cecil Shorts score 1 TD and leave fans scapegoating his lack of scoring on Henne/Gabbert? Nope, and you know why? It's because he scored 7 TDs on 19 less receptions. He doesn't need excuses made for him.

Good point. The defense could've helped out with more takeaways. Otoh how many nfl wrs started 16 games while having the same number if TDs as fumbles lost?

Sure, but that's going back to the theme that we're way away from the idea that Hartline's lack of touchdowns justifies some of the perception about him. A guy with more touchdowns would be great, but it shouldn't be on his back, either.

Right, Hartline failed to convert some his catches into touchdowns. On the other hand, there were instances Tannehill failed to hit Hartline for a score throughout the season. Yet, only Hartline is being criticized.

I was wrong how? Because you say so? LMAO.
All he did was give an opinion? I suppose you think you Hartline lovers all only post facts while everyone else only has opinions. :pity:

Yes, from you we get facts like: "It's like Disgustipate said, he doesn't give you a boner when you watch him play so you don't like him".

So don't talk to me about what is opinion and what is fact.

That's said for Brady, Manning, and Brees, too, so I'm not sure your point. You realize even the greatest QBs still throw roughly 200 incompletions per season, right?

It's noteworthy because he is the most targeted receiver and the passing game for most teams is a big part of moving the ball and scoring.

Yes you were wrong. You said younger Dolphin fans haven't seen great receiver play in a long time. We have. Remember Brandon Marshall? He proves your point wrong.

And yes, his post was all opinion.

And even the greatest receivers don't score many touchdowns per season. Andre Johnson has had seasons were he scored 5 touchdowns or less 5 times.

Johnson averages 18 TDs per every 3 seasons (and this includes a 7 & 9 game season).
Let me know when AJ has 3 TDs in 3 years.
Not to mention he does it with multiple defenders keyed on him.

You seem to act as though 5 extra TDs a season is small potatoes when in fact we lost 5 games by a TD or less in 2012.
