... and at least we have 2 2nds & 3rds to make a 1st round oline pick more palatable.

Do you get the same feeling when watching Datone Jones, that he runs hot & cold, takes some plays off, and gets lazy in pursuit? If so, do you think it's like what you're talking about with Ngata & Dunlap or b/c he's simply not a 100% kind of guy? I was leaning toward not a 100% type of player.

The way Lane Johnson' feet move is a thing of beauty. So athletic given size. I could see him giving Eric Fisher a run for his money as the number two offensive tackle in this draft

He's not a top five OT.

I know ckparrothead is not a big fan of Texas A&M Defensive End Damontre Moore so I thought it was interesting that Russ Lande stated that he hasn't found one scout that grades Damontre Moore as a first round selection. Very interesting....

What are you basing that off of? Are you basing it over the last 2 seasons or his overall body of work?

That is interesting. I like Moore, but I understand the criticisms. Moore is too often stonewalled by OTs (good example against Xavier Nixon as CK pointed out, for sure against DJ Fluker) and his questionable in run support. Good sideline pursuit, good pass rusher, but he doesn't look elite. How much better is he than Brandon Jenkins?

Lande confuses me- I googled looking for the Damontre Moore thing and it sent me to twitter- he compares Keenan Allen to AJ Green (huh?) and lauds Ansah's pass rush ability. Ansah is certainly an interesting player, compelling talent and physical specimen, but my main problem with him as per Miami especially is his lack of pass rush skills and explosive first step. Of all the things he could have mentioned- size, speed, sideline pursuit, strength at the LOS, run defense, pass deflections- he focuses on pass rush? I can't figure out Lande sometimes.

ps Here's his latest mock. He has Ansah going #2 overall- wow.

The only players I would say are clearly better are Joe Thomas, Duane Brown, Ryan Clady, and D'Brickshaw Ferguson. I'd put Long against anyone else.

    Jim-

I agree with you on Ansah. He is not this elite pass rusher that people are dubbing him to be. I see him more as an ideal five technique in a 34 defense. He has pass rush ability but he is not an explosive, first step and get after the quarterback player.

I fail to see the Keenan Allen to A.J. Green comparisons. However I really think Allen is a great fit into the Dolphins' passing attack.

BTW My name is Craig. I am attempting to get on a first name basis with many on here so I do not have to type username's like a moron.

    Hi Craig,

Ansah is certainly an interesting player and provides a lot of interesting abilities. But for Lande to focus on outside pass rush as to Ansah's value? I don't get it. Allen is a good WR, but to compare him to AJ Greene? That's a head scratcher imo, I see a solid player ion Allen but hardly the upside and deep threat of an AJ Green.

One I forgot is Joe Staley.

So who do you take over him? Nate Solder? Jared Gaither? Branden Albert? Jared Veldheer? Eugene Monroe? Anthony Castonzo? Michael Roos? Max Starks? Bryant McKinnie? Andrew Whitworth? Trent Williams? Tyron Smith? Derek Sherrod? Jeff Backus? Matt Kalil? Jermon Bushrod? Donald Penn? Levin Brown? Sam Baker? Jordan Gross?

Russ Lande is an interesting guy. He likes to go way out there with his opinions. So I didn't find it that interesting when he ranked Damontre Moore out of the first round in his player rankings. However, I do find it interesting that all the scouts he's talked to agree. Though, this is the season for disinformation.

What I find interesting is how often people piggyback on early, superficial assessments/draft grades rather than objectively watching the player and forming an honest opinion, even if it happens to contract popular opinion. Personally, I'd rather the onus of being right or wrong fall on my own shoulders rather than from parroting back what others say as if afraid to form my own opinion.

I never understood the hype on Moore, I kept watching and watching, you won't see a positive post on this site from me about the guy since our offseason began,.thats relatively speaking as it pertains to where most were projecting him which was top 10 all day..

Straight off the bat Joe Staley, Branden Albert, Mike Roos, Andrew Whitworth, Trent Williams and Matt Kalil had better seasons.

    Straight off the bat.

Say what you want about Jake Long, but when he's healthy, the only other tackle that can be argued with him is Joe Thomas.

Here's the decision the team has to make on Jake. He's 27 years old. His injury issues over the past two years are not anything that suggest to me that he has a chronic issue that will plague him the rest of his career. It isn't like he has a bulging disc in his back or problems with his feet that will effect him long term. If you let him walk, and he gets passed the niggling injuries that have bothered him over the past two years, then he's back among the top two offensive tackles in football once again. Personally, I would resign him. He's 27 years old and has been among the top two at his position his entire career.

Im not sure why people are willing to forgive multiple injuries in a row simply because there is no immediate correlation between them. Some guys simply are injury prone because their bodies are not up to the constant stress.

Jake had been an iron man before 2011. So one would have to be comfortable with the belief that his unrelated injuries in late 2011 and late 2012 were just flukes or if it's a portent of things to come, before resigning him.

He had my interest early on simply b/c of his statistical production in the SEC and he seemed to be making plays, but after putting him under the microscope I quickly grew heavily against him. He seems like a 3rd rounder to me. BTW, I know you're the type who doesn't mind sticking to his own opinion.

Watching Damontre Moore, I love the hustle. But he gets a lot of hustle sacks. Not great speed off the edge and against Alabama, DJ Fluker and Cyrus Kouandjio absolutely destroyed him. Physically he looks like Demarcus Ware. He just doesn't play like him. If he gets taken in the top 20 then I'll be surprised. I just don't get it.

Completely agree. Completely. Key line there is WHEN HE'S HEALTHY. But he's not and the question was, is he a top five guy RIGHT NOW. And not even the most one eyed of Dolphin fans could say that in 2012 he was top five in the league.
