30/33 with a long of 56 is pretty good. He's pretty much on par with Walsh almost. Although, to be fair, Walsh is very good. They are both clutch kickers.

He wasn't worth 3.3M in my eyes.

still not worth a third, even if you want to try and pass it off as a fourth.

Whom you could have gotten back for a relatively cheap price given Ks aren't that hot a commodity.

Trying to generate business in the K thread when it comes, I don't get a commission if there's no action with Ks.

3rds are traded like candy around here, I mean, really, what am I going to get with a late 3rd, high 4th, a candy bar? I'll take my chances with Tucker.

Yeah, it's an interesting deal as Brady is in the last couple productive years of his career. In turn the Jags get a second rounder and Matt Ryan, if you compare that to #2 overall that he gave up he's still winning on the deal.

I'd definitely take Matt Ryan over Tom Brady at this stage. Holy hell.

Win-win for Jax and ATL as I see it. Both put up similar numbers this year. Jaguars get a younger, cheaper player ... Atlanta gets best pocket passer in the game to sling it around to best WR duo and get them over the edge.

But looking at the No. 2 overall pick, I too feel that I'm still getting immense value for that pick.

Let's play a game of guess that QB:

    422 of 615, 68.6 completion %, 4,719 passing yards 32 TDs, 14 INTs, 99.1 QB rating ... that QB is ________

    317 of 531, 59.7 completion %, 3,817 passing yards, 22 TDs, 10 INTs, 87.7 QB rating ... that QB is _______

    401 of 637, 63.0 completion %, 4,827 passing yards, 34 TDs, 8 INTs, 98.7 QB rating ... that QB is _______

What I see with the trade is that the Jaguars aren't ready to win it all this upcoming season, so they traded for a QB who is young and needs to get over that hump and "choker" label. He wants to get back to being Matty Ice and not Matty "Slipped On The" Ice. Jaguars though set themselves up for longer window where they could get to the playoffs in a somewhat open AFC South.

The Falcons aren definitely in a win now or next year mode with Brady throwing to Jones and White, you can say this could have been the difference but they still need to shore up the defense.

and what is it with a lesser receiving corps and no HOF TE? :shifty:

    0-3 record
    3 TDs, 4 INTs
not a game over 200 yards
Not a passer rating above 73 (but it'd be even lower if not for garbage time yards/TDs).

Let's completely ignore the fact that he could be getting better as he enters the prime of his career.

Obviously anyone is going to need weapons around him, which I am in a position to do.

cut players can be bid on in like 2 weeks, full FA is middle of March. The timeline thread I thought was up to date.

Yah I'm out of the OL market to.

Still keeping my eye out for trade down options in the draft....but that will come in time. The closer to the draft it gets...better the deal.

that must've been hard to discern among his 42 postseason TDs to 22 INTs. :shifty:

Brady had already won 2 SBs by the time Ryan won his first playoff game. Boom goes the dynamite. <I hate that saying BTW>

You're comparing a very good QB to one of the most spectacular phenomenons and greatest accomplishments in NFL history. The truth is, you can go down any QB that one of us will end up with in the this league and not one would match up to what Brady did, so I don't really understand that argument.

The truth is, Ryan is cheaper than Brady and put up comparable numbers this year. He's 8 years younger than Brady too, so he fit my plans.

Somewhat off the topic, but I feel like Brady's reputation is enhanced because he had success early in his career. If you flip what he did (AFC championship losses and Super Bowl losses early in his career and Super Bowl wins later in his career), we'd be comparing him to John Elway instead of Joe Montana***. Two great QBs but a different winning pedigree throughout a majority of their careers until Elway ended on top. Whereas a Peyton Manning is viewed as choke artist because he didn't win until later in his career. It's all about perception when talking about elite QBs.

***Sorry for typo, food deprived and not thinking clearly.
