I'm trying to figure things out first before, once I can start posting threads and editing a few things, I'll let you know.
To me I was 20 mil in cap hell and old. Still old and am gutting Ike taylor at 10 mil is highway robbery robbery. You know what Pitt fans call him ( I live in Steeler/browns country, I am half way between Pitt and Clev if you draw a line)? Burnt. I will take Cortez Allen over him at a much cheaper price. Big Ben is nice, but he is also very injury prone at 20mil. great qb but showing signs of his style. I got Osweiller who I think will show in a few years that he will make it 5 or 6 strong qbs from the 12 class. I added Gore and polk in my backfield. I really like Polk who would have been a 2nd rder had shoulder concerns not been raised. SO in all I get the #1 overall and all through now have 50 mil in cap space. Oh and I am not even remotely close to being done
Really? I got one of the 3 best defensive players in the NFL who happens to be 23. I gave up a really good back, but a back nonetheless, a linebacker who was hurt last year and is good, but not on Miller's level, and a late 3rd. I thought it was pretty fair and makes my team better.
Flat out, if I had a choice between Miller and a healthy Cushing, I take Cushing and its not even close. Houston's D was swiss cheese without him and airtight with him. Guy is a beast. Miller is a pass rusher and thats it. Hes a good one but Id take a handful of pass rushers over him. I dont know where youre getting one of the 3 best D players in the league. Id take Wake, JPP, JJ Watt among a few others just at DE.
Then we have a big difference of opinion on Miller. I think he's much more than a pass rusher as he plays LB in a 4-3 and has been an all-pro his first two years in the league. I wouldn't rank JPP ahead of him. Miller had almost 3 times as many sacks as JPP, more tackles, 8 times as many FF, and the same amount of INTs.
Houston doesn't have depth at LB. That is why they struggled. Cushing is good but he aint Von Miller.
Sorry to interrupt guys, but after checking in with Spotrac, these contract numbers are off for the 49ers. I'm trying to figure this out, but I'm no damn accountant.
Well, at least I don't cheat. I mean he didn't want Foster and I really didn't need him but I took him and dealt Gore. Meh, I said I'd have to be blown away and I was.
You guys are entitled to your opinions, but I think Miller is on his way to a HOF career and I don't think I'm alone on that.
you rang? for the 49ers, you should be looking at this link... which, unless updated after GIK and Mach posted their spreadsheet, should be accurate. We're looking at cap hit for 2013 not just base. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/cap-hit/
And what about the year before when JPP had teammates playing well? You really underestimate Cushing. Cushing is now the best MLB now that Lewis is done. Zach THomas with more physical ability.
See there, anyone who thought I was trying to cheat or was whining about the cap when in fact it was a difference of about 6 million bucks (4 players) can PM me an apology. PS: that's not why San Fran has a new GM. Something has come up where I'm not sure I can be an active GM, and I can't stand being a co-GM. Hopefully the new guy doesn't screw up the team too badly. j/k new guy.
Cushing is right on his level. You can call them 1A and 1B. Willis is a better tackler, Cushing is a much better pass rusher.
"Hey were going to need exact cap numbers for the 2013 season" "To Whom am I speaking with?" "Todd from Thephins.com."
Todd is actually hired by Sportrac and Todd only updated the 9ners to squeeze out an extra 3 Million in space to have an advantage in the GML.
Eh, I think that's a bit of a cop out. It's not like the Giants were any less talented on D than the Broncos. Miller in 2 seasons has more sacks and more FF than JPP has in 3. But looking at JPP's second season when he "had teammates playing well", he still had 2 less sacks and 4 less FF than Miller had in his second year.
Not less talented but they definitely played harder last year. JPP barely played as a rookie and he was stuck behind Osi and Tuck so its not really the same. Oh and JPP was a big reason that the NYG won a SB last year. Carried the pass rush most of the season....
Interested to see how much Andy Lee gets on the open market... 49ers new gm cut him, his salary was over $4m. I reckon he could have got a sixth round pick for him. JMO
JPP is a great player, no doubt. I don't think he's as good as Miller though. Agree to disagree I guess.
Ouch! Slides Boik a snicker doodle... you know you want it. Let's just put everything back the way it was. Their gluten free!
