So how am I doing for a rookie GM? Acquired Kendall Langford, Paul Soliai, Early Doucet and Brooks Reed Let go T.J. Ward, Phil Taylor, Billy Winn and Trent Richardson. Moving a 3-4 and my defensive front is almost complete with the additions of Reed, Soliai and Langford.
Most folks will probably give you some grief for moving Richardson for Langford ... For whatever reason skill players are highly regarded in this league (though WRs are more valualbe than RBs). I just don't understand why Paul would trade for Richardson when he has Steven Jackson on his team.
Where have you been... GIK paddled Paul's *** with his swastika over the release of Jax I'm pretty sure he's going to Miami now....
Jackson is being moved on I would imagine given the contract and age when compared with Richardson. Paul's deal on that alone saved him over 1.5 million, which he then used to help pay T.J. Ward.
yeah, it appears SJ39 is a free agent... I actually think the Langford / Richardson trade is fairly equal. When Con approached me with the trade, I actually thought he was messing around at first. Then I did my research... Richardson didn't set the world on fire in Cleveland last year, there were murmurs that he was turning into a bust at the end of the season. He wasn't getting along well with the staff. Playing with two cracked ribs doesn't help. Is he another Ronnie Brown? A back drafted in the top 5 who won't live up to that draft status? His salary is fairly high. It's possible Con had a mid 2nd round grade on him and Langford. That's not that far fetched.
And I'm not going to judge how another team is doing. They are painting their mosaic in a matter of what 10 weeks or whatever it is? Can't judge any team based on one trade. You judge the trade itself... but overall, lets wait and see.
For someone who supposedly isn't making any trades this year Paul certainly has made a lot of trades.
He is in limbo so to speak. He cannot be traded and we'll find out about his player options before tags are due.
hmph, so then why'd you trade for him? I might have to put this down as a knock against you come judgement day, Pauly.
How many do you know that want IN of those two cities? Hmmm? And you wonder why we have so much ammunition in trades?
I'm part of the camp that think RB value is lolworthy, but I'd have shopped him around first because there are others who will pay up huge for a RB, if that makes sense.
I wish more GMs would list their wanted player positions in their trade page to make it easier for the rest of us to figure out trade possibilities.
heck of a trade for the Broncos. And I'm not just saying that because the 9ers are in my division... or am I? I mean they do shave some salary off their books, but IMO both Gore and Crabtree are worth those salaries.
Not sure you actually looked at this trade beyond the surface. Decker and Crabtree are close to a wash..... plus Decker is a bigger & more physical target, which San Fran is lacking. The difference in salary does make them a wash IMO. Gore is a great back but will be 30 this year. Derek Wolfe was the #36 pick last year and is a 22 year old beast <with 6 sacks & 42 tackles as a rookie>. I just ensured San Fran's outstanding D remains stout up front at DE in the future which is more important than Gore, especially when there's an offensive line that can open holes for Mach to run through. That leaves trading a 1st & 7th for a 3rd & 5th. In the end, both teams got what they wanted.
heh.. yeah I had it backwards... still... there is no way on god's green earth that Crabtree equals Decker. I like Wolfe too... but Gore > Wolfe IMO.
I'd take Crabtree over Decker but Gore is turning 30 in May... he isn't a spring chicken anymore. I think I'd take Wolfe over Gore considering how it's much easier to find a quality running back these days... especially when you have a good offensive line.
Decker had to compete with Demaryius Thomas for catches and still had 85 catches, 1064 yards, and 13 TDs. Crabtree had Manningham (10 starts and was on IR), Kyle Williams (3 starts), and a 35 year old Randy Moss. Crab finished with 85 catches, 1105 yards, 9 TDs. I'd give the edge to Crabtree, but not by a lot. Hence the necessity of draft picks involved to balance it out. I agree, Gore is better than Wolfe at the moment.... but I didn't make that trade thinking the NFL would cease to exist after 2013. Let's see how 2013 turns out before saying a 30 year old Gore > last year's #36 pick, the 3rd DT drafted. Sounds like you're treating a 1st round pick as though it's irrelevant.
Hey guys, new trade posted. Edit: I didn't realize what the trade above mine was until just now. Holy ****, that's a trade.
I think it was fairly even, considering who is throwing the ball on my side of the ball. It sucks to lose Wolfe, but DT's run so hot and cold in this league, not saying he will, but I was willing to take the risk, especially for Gore. How I looked at it is: Decker= Crabtree 1.28+(pretty much a 2nd)+7th+Wolfe= Gore (late first value-high 2nd, in my mind)+3rd+5th In my mind, I pretty much dealt a late 1,high 3, late 7 for a late 1, late 3, late 5. It was pretty much a completely even trade, and we both filled needs, replaced at the WR position, and made a hole in another.
Con's Browns are just too busy with the trades. We are going to have to put a temp freeze on his trading. Actually, I love that he's so active. It gives me goose bumps.
