I really think Jonathan Franklin is an underrated player. I'm really looking forward to watching him this week and in the game. I'm not sure the Dolphins will be looking at a smaller back with Miller already in the fold, but I will be rooting for him and I think someone is going to get very good value when they draft him.

    Well away from here
    Yes, he is.

But thats a guy I'd expect us look at long and hard given his style of play.

Wonder how mobile that Kent State Winters guy is. Caught my eye during the televised practice today. He really reminds me of Richie Incognito out on the field, if Incognito were asked to play left tackle. Come to think of it he's got a little Eric Steinbach in him too.

Really like him but surprised by his height. Though he was more 6'1 than 5'11. How did Trufant look?

Trufant reminds me of Vontae Davis at times. Davis is heavier but both have mental lapses, both questionable in running game, both slack in their technique, both have good mirror skills, both athletic. Trufant is a trip when pressing at the LOS. (As is Jamar Taylor, who is probably even worse than him at it.)

Hopefully that's a good thing. I know Steinbach got pressed into some emergency LT duty while in Cincinnati when Levi Jones went down. I know "position flexibility" causes everyone to cringe - or at least I do because it reminds me of Tony Sparano - but it might not be a bad thing to have on this roster. Especially if Nate Garner isn't retained. And I don't think he should be.

With Joe Flacco's success in the post season, someone will convince themselves that Glennon is another Flacco.

They changed their rules and are allowing two 4th year Juniors to play this year. I don't recall that he is one of them. The Alabama OT is one, cannot recall the other.

I've no concern with how Wheaton responded to Trufant. It was blatant PI and there was no reason for Wheaton to get into a physical altercation over it.

Only watched the north practice so far and Eric Fisher looks like a top 10 pick. Great feet, looked like a dancer out there. Kyle Long looks much suited at G but could develop into a nice tackle. Seems like a perfect fit for Miami seeing how Philbin wants athletic bigs.

Michael Buchanan looked really quick and Alex Okafor looked really good but got stood up by Fisher. Kawann Short was impressive, looks like a round 2 pick for sure. I don't get the "Overrated" vibes from Hunt. He isn't being talked about being a 1st round pick so not sure how that description fits him. I was looking to see if he got dominated by better comp and he held his ground well. Didn't generate a lot of push up front but he didn't get pushed. John Simon didn't look good out in coverage but wasn't awful either. Do any of you guys see him as a OLB in a 3-4?

Poyer, Trufant and Duke Williams, They stood out among the group. I liked Trufant and how aggressive he was. No one from the WR group blew me away.

Long & Yeatman are still in the picture (for now at least), plus we could always draft a tackle if either the value is too good to pass up or the player happens to represent a better option at tackle. One way or another we need to upgrade/adjust the interior line to better fit the scheme. If it means drafting a tackle and sliding Martin inside, I'm fine with that. I'm not picky how we do it so long as it gets done.

If a tackle/guard combination of a rookie tackle + Martin at LG looks better than the combination of Martin at tackle + rookie or FA guard, then I don't see a problem with kicking him inside. One thing that has me thinking about it is Yeatman. With his athleticism he should eventually be at one of the tackle spots if he's as promising as the coaches make him sound. What if Fisher represents the best talent at #12? We could draft him at left tackle, let Yeatman bookend him, and stick Martin at LG where he might be quite good. Or even Yeatman at LT, draft a RT, and move Martin inside. I think Martin has some potential at LT but he seems like a better LG than tackle (especially right tackle). If it came down to Martin at RT or LG, I'd rather have him at LG to be honest.

Perhaps an Oline of Eric Fisher - Martin - Pouncey - Chad Rinehart (FA) - Yeatman
That would save a bunch of money to go elsewhere in FA (including cutting/trading Incognito if applicable).

    or how about.... Fisher - Martin - Pouncey - Rinehart/Incognito/Jerry - Cherilus

Damn, Malliciah Goodman with the largest hands (10 7/8) AND wingspan (87 3/4). Impressive at 6'035.
Those friggin mitts are as big as a sheet of paper. Seriously, grab a piece of notebook paper and hold your hand up to it for comparison. Guy probably takes up 2 shower stalls with those measurements.

Dolphins have spent a lt of time with Tyrann Mathieu. They flew to see him at Patrick Peterson's house and then had a meeting with him last night. They're exploring playmakers in every department.

Justin Pugh is a kid I'm really interested in given his great movement ability. As for Miami, they've also spent time with Penn State centre Maa Stankiewitch. 6'3, 303 and one of the East West standouts.

And a great football name, though I feel bad for his future daughters. Would he be a depth pick-up or potential starting guard?

I'd love it. We need to start taking some calculated risks. Mathieu in the 3rd round is a good, calculated risk.

And I don't think he's a bsd guy. He has an addiction problem, which can be managed as long as he wants to get better, which seems to be the case

Michael Buchanon got swaddled like a baby by Eric Fisher. It was embarrassing. Prior to 2012 I saw him as highly overrated. He's fallen quite a bit since then. Yet, he's still overrated IMO.

Yes actually various people have been putting Margus Hunt in 1st round mock projections, and I've seen him in the 2nd round many times as well. He's extremely overrated. Not by the scouts, but by the fans and media.

John Simon was awful in coverage, during the televised portion. But that's too be expected. That's not what kind of player he's going to be. At best I see him as like another Matt Roth but a little smaller.

I thought some of the OLs did a good job standing out. Obviously Eric Fisher looked really good. But I'd like to get him into some team drills and see how he looks. I wasn't in love with how he looked on tape at Central Michigan. I liked Lane Johnson better. Kyle Long looked good. Really like the look of that Brian Winters guy as a guard, another Eric Steinbach with a little Richie Incognito spiced in.

I fail to see how drafting an addict in the 3rd is a commendable calculated risk. Taking him in the 6th might be, but not in the 3rd.

Because his talent level is above that of a typical 3rd round pick, who is only available there due to his problem.

And what is the risk of a 3rd round pick? You're not investing a ton of money. We had a 3rd round pick who was inactive basically the entire season this year.

And there are many, many people with addiction problems who overcome them and are still able to work and be productive while going through their recovery.

I'd rather take a shot on a player like Mathieu than another Egnew. I think he'll be available in the 4th though. We do have two 3rd round picks so taking a gamble with 1 of them wouldn't be a bad idea.

Awesome, I look forward to you and our fans to put little emphasis on the 3rd round and below from now on.

Sure many people overcome their addiction. An indication a person isn't going to be among them, is getting kicked off their national spotlight football team because you wouldn't stop and can't help but getting caught. If you can't quit and stop getting caught in the overly enabling alumni atmosphere of college football, then you're probably going to fair worse with millions of dollars and a stricter set of rules.

I wouldn't touch the Honey Badger in the 3rd round. I'm pretty sure there will be a number of more attractive options in that round.

Even from a pure talent standpoint I'm not sure you could say that the Honey Badger in the 3rd round is a slam dunk. What exactly IS he at the next level? Because he's not a starting corner out on the perimeter. That much we know. If he's just a nickel slot corner then I don't care how big a play maker you think he is, he's not going to be worth a high level asset.

Could he be a safety? I suppose Jairus Byrd made that transition. But Jairus Byrd checks out infinitely better from a pure character/intelligence standpoint.
