Can't you do that and still host soccer?

The Seattle Sounders play at Quest Field and i believe the seats there are very close to the field/pitch

Or, as Mike Dee calls it, a "modernization"

it would be tight. it would however disqualify you from hosting a WC game in the future.

If the whole lower bowl is 18 feet moved in closer, around the whole bowl, it will help tremendously, my question then would be, how is that going to work with the upper bowl, esthetically, those are gonna be some pretty funky seats up there..

I'm back to excited if I'm to interpret what he said in the radio is true..now we need to figure out how we're gonna do that for 400 mill.

Sec??your the blueprint guy?... Find your game lad..

I don't think the basic color scheme is going away. If anything, the shade of the aqua and/or coral/orange might change, which it has on numerous occasions in this franchises' history. Wouldn't shock me if they added another accent color like silver/grey, either.

you add those 18 feet really easy. you add it to the existing lower bowl. the elevation and pitch exists to do just that. They can add 4 inches of concrete to the existing 1st 10 rows and create more if needed.

it's easy work. 400 mil seems like a ripoff to me.

I agree that's the reason they're going with 18 feet. It's an improvement over what we have now, but not ideal in terms of a football only facility. I'd prefer it closer, but I can't stand soccer, so I'm probably not unbiased here. If that's the closest they can go and realistically still be considered for a WC then it makes sense. But I'd want it as close as possible for football purposes as that will be the venue's primary use.

So you believe that Dee is serious when he speaks about moving the whole bowl closer, just don't think he'll get the money for it?

    That would suck donkey balls.

Centurylink can still host worldcup matches, the only question is if they have to swapout turf for grass.

What about if they're redoing all the interiors/boxes/suites?

One of the biggest things I'm excited for is improved food options.

I'm sure you're busy at work but your short answers are killing me Sec! :)

How would it change things? What would be different about the sight-lines? Why would that be better than what is being proposed?

Anyone know if the city of Miami is pitching World Cup matches?..

Another example of not getting it..compromising your football team, and not giving them every advantage possible, for some soccer matches, its lame vision..

Maybe they can't go any closer with the lower because of the placement of the upper, and how all that would work together..

Question, can you have a plan for a lower bowl, and nothing for the upper, if it ever gets done wouldn't this be odd?

Man are there a lot of questions that are not being answered, and that we need to be clarified..Dee needs to set up a presser and be more fu&$ing specific.

What I'm seeing in the photos, I think, is they want to bring in the two sides of the lower bowl, if you notice in some of the pics, there's this new gap being created in the corner end zone slots, kind of like what you see in San francisco, I believe that is because their going to leave the end zone parts of the lower bowl in tact, and just build the sides closer..This adjustment to the concrete could be the spec for what they mean when they say what it's supposed to be pre baseball blueprint..

What's mind boggling to me is the lack of a campaign that truly states what we are trying to accomplish, and that campaign should be all about being clear to the public that they are doing this project to become a better 12 th man, not the food, not the tv's, not the silly in seat devices, but a clear objective to become a legit 12 th man, a very clear vision to recapture the Majic we used to have..If they took that angle with the public, and were concise, and serious about it, it would create excitement, support, and momentum..

It truly is what the fans want.

You have to assume they are. I know they have in the past. Miami is the gateway to S. America with a larger Latino community than most places in the U.S., so that's always going to be something that gets pursued.

Conversely, these teams can move from city to city as they see fit. No city is entitled to having a sports franchise. If a city wants to build a stadium to draw a franchise to that city, they should have the right to do so.

The soccer is about additional revenue for Ross, which at the end of the day is what all of this is about.

Sun Life did host World Cup matches last time USA hosted the event but I have no idea if the USA is bidding again anytime soon.

What they are proposing seems to be the best they can do without seeking a new stadium, and at a price where they might get public funding. It's good enough.

Your right, I need to keep some perspective, this is a desperate situation imo as it pertains to the dolphins and their fanbase, something has got to be done about that building..I simply hope that the culture that has deterioted over the years cares enough to help Ross.

Well you can almost guarantee the USA will also get at least one World Cup/Womens World Cup/Olympics (soccer is played around the country, not just in the host city for Olympics) in the next 25 years. I'd assume World Cup 2026. USA just barely lost out to Qatar 2022...which was a controversy. One being that Russia [2018] & Qatar, oil rich countries, were selected and accused of bribery, plus for Qatar the extreme summer temps.

DJ, I hate to break the news to you... but you're in the minority. Most people don't even know it is a problem, and an entire generation (like me) never even knew the OB and all they've ever known is the SunLife... so they have nothing to compare it to.

Things like new TVs, better food, more comfortable seats are things the average person is going to see more value in than improving the acoustics of the building.

The situation isn't ideal, but I don't think its desperate. As nice as it would be to have a very loud stadium, the overwhelming majority of new stadiums aren't designed for it.

The fans might love it, but I'm not sure they'd buy it. I think it's been made clear by now that the NFL wants an upgraded facility if they're to hold any more Super Bowls here. I'm sure other major sporting events might eventually turn a deaf ear also if there are better facilities to hold their events. Ross owns the stadium also, and most people realize that, so it's no surprise that he'd want his stadium updated so that he can hold these events in the future. Making it a more intimidating place to play is more of a byproduct of the plan, and I think most people realize that.

You snd I have disagreed with this in the past, and I am an opponent of public financing, but if they are going to do it anyway, then this deal seems as reasonable as such deals can be for the taxpayers.

There is only so much they can do within the current structure in the time frame they want to do this in. So, if this does in fact get approved, enjoy what you're getting and stop being envious of Seattle or anyplace else. We have what we have.

I disagree, the perception around the country is that our stadium is not a good building, there are a lot of important members of both programs that hate the building both programs play in..

I do believe that if marketed correctly, the project could excite a lot more people, then some surface level fluff..

You wouldn't be excited if the Dee came out and said, the project is to become a more intimating place for the opponent to play, and to create a real home field advantage?

I will when I know that there are no more ways of informing the suits about what could be, and what they are missing out on..

Once I feel confident that there will be true concrete changes ( literally), you will see a different perspective from me, it will be exciting if true..I'm really worried Ross's gesture here is gonna fall on deaf ears, not sure the culture is strong or smart enough to understand how desperate the situation is, enough to pass their side of the deal.

I don't see how it would be more elevated unless they plan to dig out the entire field and go down. Or moving the upper edges of the lower bowl (right under the luxury boxes) farther than 18 feet. Adding 4 inches of concrete would make it less elevated if anything and keep the pitch the same if they add 4 inches to top and bottom.

For instance, if you take the drawing that Finasty put up. Take the top of the pitch line and move it farther than 18 feet, and keep the bottom at 18 feet. Then you have a steeper pitch/incline.

this is where I would want this conversation to turn into...it's really bizarre, conceptually, I mean we're talking about about moving the lower bowl closer but keeping the upper bowl the same..That upper deck ain't movin if you know what I'm sayin.

The front rows of the upper deck are not moving. They're taking 8-10 rows from the back of the upper decks and putting them in the lower bowl basically. So in a way, it is moving everything forward.
