Winning makes everything go away. We just wouldn't know anything about that as Miami Dolphin fans.

bolagna WADR. Seattle wasn't 9-5 last year during GM John Schneider's second straight 7-9 season after taking over the team in 2010. Salt on the wound, Schneider used his first 2 picks last year on Oline and his 1st rounder the year before on Oline; however, posters here have foolishly ripped Ireland for displaying a similar emphasis on the trenches.

Similar to Schneider, Ireland's first 2 years saw 6-10 (with a lameduck HC) and now a likely 7-9 despite undergoing a more drastic offensive scheme change and a new HC change. Seattle is now in year 3, but our year 3 won't be until next year, which we could very well break out in just as Seattle did this year. Hell, we already beat them this year. It's hypocrisy. If it were up to half of this forum, Seattle's GM would've been prematurely fired after last year's second straight 7-9 showing and they wouldn't currently be 9-5 and on the rise.

Dude you need some serious message board help or something. I add plenty to this website. You can as well but you go off on wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many people that disagree with your supposed facts (OPINIONS). So stop acting like you're the football/math/comprehension genius.

You're going to need high blood pressure meds if you don't.

You already know it'd be, "well we went to the playoffs w Pennington and that team sucked so we probably just got lucky again" if we went to the first round and lossed.

Actually all you've contributed of late is some weird fixation with me.

Secondly, i don't go off on anybody that disagrees with me. I go off on people who insult me, attack me, make up what I say, and are antagonistic. Then there's people like you who defend their points with as much passion and gusto as I do, but somehow in your brains i'm the stubborn one who always thinks he's right. Its bull****.

You don't like the way I post, then put me the **** on ignore.

I happen to think that I contributed plenty in this thread alone. I may be right or I may be dead wrong. But that's what these things are for aren't they?

I've seen you go off on at least 10 people in the last two months. FACT! I don't care if they're right or wrong. YOU consistantly call people stupid little names and insist people can't comprehend anything. As for your weird fixation claim. Don't worry! When I'm at work, I don't have one thought of coming home to get on the phns.com and find you. It just so happens that it only takes a few minutes to see you've made another post about Brian Hartline, or Brandon Marshall or Jeff Ireland. Why? Because I happen to like reading the threads on this website.

And there is no way in hell I'm putting you on ignore.

Oooh, I'm really enjoying these, "you'd still hate if we were a contender" scenarios. Very enjoyable looking at those, while we sit on 6 wins heading into week 15. All while my ticket agent is actually trying to pressure me into early renewal for next season. Any other deliciously pathetic hypotheticals?

Were you around during the Wanstedt years? Miami was a contender and he had a lot of haters. Same with Fielder. Hell Miami had the number one passing defense in the league, were contenders and T-Buck was still attracting haters.

There is plenty of past behavior to back up such a claim.

People don't care what position you draft when you are hitting on those picks. More importantly, players you acquire in FA have to pan out too. And finally, if you have a car with three wheels you must get a fourth wheel on it before the race begins or, again, people may criticize you (this refers to not replacing Marshall).

I do agree that a first year HC, first year in a new offensive system for all players, and a less experienced than most rookies rookie QB should normally make us wait two or three years to see how things develop.

We are just worried Ireland may squander the best bunch of offseason resources we have had in years.

??? Seattle didn't hit any better on their Olinemen than we did. We hit on the best center in football and a 2nd round RT who is playing better than the 1st rounder Seattle spent on a RT.

So the fans in Seattle are more patient... or don't have much to compare the Seahawk fan experience to since the Supersonics left so have no standards, unlike the Heat/Dolphins fans?

Look, if you add up all the years and all the picks, CK hadmade a point that Ireland's success rate was comparable to other GMs who used far fewer resources to achieve the same amount of roster alent. relative to the resources used (draft and perghaps FA should be added), the roster has not progressed as much as one would expect.

X-factor is change in coaching regime and scheme.... which buys Jeff another year to show he can adapt to the new staff's needs. And I have a hope that he will.

Also, this is his first gig with a coach OUTSIDE the Parcells tree. I'm hoping Jeff actually learns a lot of new perspectives on football from his time with Philbin. This is also the first year he and Philbin will be able to LOOK BACK on a draft, and a season together and course-correct: where did we do things well together, where were our evaluations and decisions wrong, what can we do better next offseason and season to acquire the right pieces, use them properly and develop them properly.

We have to remember, Jeff is a GM-in-trining, learning on the job, somewhat, and still young. He has seen football solely through the filter of Parcells viewpoint (I include Sparano in that viewpoint). This is the first time he'll have a mentor who can teach him that football is not only played by slow guys from Jersey.

The spin machine is cranking it up I see.

Another anonymous "source" that can't be verified but it spins a nice story to make all the gullible sycophants line up and start cheering for Ireland.

So this "story" is supposed to make up for not doing what needed to be done to supply his young QB with weapon ?

How can you determine any success rate after 2 drafts, especially when one is still in its rookie stage?

I agree with the rest of it for the most part, with the exception of seeing football solely through the filter of Parcells, b/c Ireland was already busy establishing himself in Dallas before Parcells arrived. Granted, like you said, there's still a lot of learning involved and learning from everyones' mistakes, including his own. I'd venture to guess some really great GMs started out a little shaky but became great b/c of a strong ability to learn from mistakes and adapt. He's adapted the offense for starters. We've evolved from the dinosaur days of Dan Henning to the guy responsible for Aaron Rodgers' offense. If he can adapt coaches, perhaps he can adapt players, too. Tannehill is obviously an indication that it's possible, as is going with more athletic linemen like Pouncey & Martin, versatile Hback types like Clay, an influx of smaller speedier running backs like Bush & Thigpen, TEs geared as much or more toward pass catching than run blocking like Egnew. As far as defense goes, is there really a need to complain about or change draft styles of the 6th ranked scoring D with an arrow pointing upward?

Nice of you to chime in and denigrate Section126 as if you're familiar with him, his beliefs of Ireland, and any history of his "source" information.
If you knew anything you'd know he hasn't exactly been holding his breath for Ireland. Maybe one day you'll have an anonymous source feeding you occasional information that you can pass onto us, but until then, do us all a favor and keep quiet when someone else does.

It won't forgive all, but unless he hits at least 2 HR's (as in rookies with a breakout year offensively) he needs to be gone by Jan 2014. It will be obvious by then that he is not capable of using the draft to build a Super Bowl contender and that is the stated Philbin way of building his team.

This off-season, he whiffed on at least 8 of his 9 free agent signings, which is atrocious and it can be reasoned that it doomed this season, even with a rookie QB. It wasn't the rook that killed it, but the GM's failure to execute. This is a no excuse league, and sorry but Ireland failed this year to do what was necessary to move the team forward in free agency.

Verify that "story" with a named source that can be checked, and I'll believe it. Otherwise I have to believe its spin, spin, spin to ease the pain of knowing Ireland will be here next year.

You mean you aren't impressed with a "story" (which has no verification, named sources listed or links so we at least can see where the "story" came from) that is conveniently dropped at this end of the year time ?

For those praising Ireland and the "chemistry" argument, remember Marshall WAS A KNOWN QUANTITY when he was traded for. Who should have been surprised he was a ticking time bomb ? Yet Ireland still made the trade and got us that problem in the 1st place. His (mis)judgement brought Marshall here and started this whole problem and turned two 2's into Egnew and a 3rd.

Think about that and praise him.

If you don't (or won't) list your source of information, then it is questionable, especially a story that has nothing going for it, except to try to make someone feel better about a person. It's a nothing story, about a mythical trade that might have happened. There is no real tangible story there so why should I believe this happened or nearly happened.

Life on Mars might have happened but there is no proof. Joseph Smith might have seen an angel & gotten golden tablets from him (as Mormons believe) but there is no proof it happened.

To change your opinion of Ireland based on a unprovable "story" about a supposed trade is ludicrous.

Ireland has done a poor to horrible job, and the proof is on the field. 5 drafts & free agency's and we MIGHT have a QB and no other offensive talent. He turned two 2 round draft picks into a failed experiment with a known nut-case and got two third round draft picks back and one of those was used to draft another offensive FAIL in Egnew.

You think this is good ?

I'm not familiar enough with Seattle's whole front office operations and ongoings to say one way or the other.

But I can tell you something I really do like about the way Seattle does things: QB is always a priority for them. They have made mistakes but they aren't afraid to quickly move on from them. Charlie Whitehurst, Tavaris Jackson and specifically this season even after spending significant $$$ on Matt Flynn, they draft Russell Wilson anyway and had no problems not even ever playing the guy they sunk the most cash into.

The position is clearly a priority for them and they don't let a mistake prevent them from trying again.
