The problem with that is that you end up with a theory that's entirely plausible on the face of it, but may or may not be supported by objective data that's collected in a balanced an unbiased manner. In other words, a solid, subjective analysis may give you an entirely plausible theory that could be entirely wrong in reality.

I'm with ya. Hoped and expected are two different ideas though. I think people's expectations really ratcheted up during the second quarter of the season though, and then these said people couldn't temper them down as we began to look like the team that the realistic consensus figured we would be at the beginning of it.

I bet Henne wants to beat us so badly.

I also feel sure Henne will hear some Boos.

Chad Henne? That's not saying much of course he's going to say that. The same receivers are still here from when he was here. If anything that was a dig at our receiving core. I am not surprised as you suggest I am. He is a rookie and several people on this board act like Ryan Tannehill is the next coming of Dan Marino. He is not. Not even close. We lost because of his play. Period. I am not saying I don't give him a pass. He is learning and I support him 100%, but saying and acting like he is playing good is bull****. As far as expectations go I expect him to get better as time goes on. It does not seem like that is happening. it seems to me like he is getting worse. Some of it is people now have film on him and can prepare for him better, most are badly thrown balls that are off target. Go back and look at his throws and you will see what I mean. Now it would be a different story if he was hitting these receivers in the hands and they were just dropping the balls but that is not the case. Balls are behind them , thrown high and at times uncatchable. Tannehills accuracy does not seem to be very good outside of 15 yards, and that in the NFL is going to be a problem if he does not get it corrected.

Wait, speed is a measure of the change in distance over the change in time. How do you propose we redefine this concept?

His accuracy has been been worse in the last two games. Part of it is him not placing the ball where needs to go, part of it is the receivers, part of it is the line. No simple answer.

It's hard to be accurate when your receiver always has a defender wrapped around him and you have to throw with perfect timing at a very tiny spot every time.

Should fit well with reality as well.

You're advocating for something that doesn't exist. The stats that the NFL collects are mostly objective (sack and tackle credits can be subjective evaluations) and unbiased. They can still be wrong. A perfect throw can be bobbled and intercepted. That doesn't change the quality of the throw, just the statistical result of the throw. And, there is no control to mitigate this for evaluations. What I mean is QBs have different receivers that are catching their passes, you cannot just say all QBs have passes bobbled and picked because they don't have it happening at the same rate. Stats are great, and somewhat necessary, for identifying trends and establishing baselines. They are not the be all end all of football analysis. There is a reason that pro football focus exists. The bobbled catch interception is a objective non-biased data point that leads to a conclusion that is entirely wrong in reality, unless of course, you subjectively determine that the throw was perfect and the catch bobbled.

**Edit**And if the theory is wrong, the best part of a message board is debate. Defend your theory, others will question and judge for themselves.

The problems with his accuracy imo stem from not being relaxed yet with the tempo..once he gets to that point you will see pinpoint accuracy..it's in his repertoire.

this whole notion that Tannehill is really inaccurate is mind boggling. The kid has some of the most amazing touches on some of his tight window throws, especially earlier in the season. and his bombs are 1 step or a decent WR from being points.[/QUOTE]

After watching him at the game against the 49ers, the recievers needed separation, and if.......would have 21 more points!!

2nd round pick that didn't live up to his status, was paid well, gave a chance by the coaches and despite what people love to tell, put in the best position with the type of quarterback he is to win.

I don't think he was messed around by coaches. The fanbase didn't treat him well.

He got a job without earning it. Coaches did him a solid.

IMO the worst part is debate in which no new, objective information is brought to the table. It's a subjective slugfest wrought with stubbornness and confirmation bias.

? Numbers with zero context. What I posted is dead on the money accurate? You guys can't stand the fact that "Magicman" might not be so magic. Sad that some are that far from reality. Have you been able to watch the games? Because exactly what the Writer from The Sports exchange wrote happened, exactly.

And for the record, yes Tannehill's progress is our biggest problem right now.

I would say that is probably accurate statement. This is a team sport and everyone has some blame in what is happening. Unfortunately this is a Quarterback led league and THill is a little off right now. I support him 150%. There are not many who wants him to be awesome more then me. But it is what it is and his stats are not that good. They will improve with time. Hopefully we are still not talking about it next year and then the year after. We are 13 games in, really 17 if you count preseason and he seems to me like he is going in the wrong direction. I also recognize we played some pretty good teams the last 2 weeks so we will see if he rebounds.
