No chance in hell the Dolphins don't add a playmaker via free agency. I'm sensing more and more as the weeks pass Philbin and Sherman growing in frustration over the lack of playmakers in the offense.

Maybe we shouldn't have traded Brandon Marshall then.

Ogletree will always be raw IMO.

Keeping in mind you're getting role players, Edelman or Amendola. Should be able to get good deals if they are willing to come. Maybe Hixon.

    And Jennings.

Had potential but raw and oft-injured.

Greg Jennings makes so much sense and I would love to have him but his injury problems scare the hell out of me.

I really like Danny Amendola...but that dude is never healthy. And even when he takes a semi-normal injury (collar bone), it has to be some freaky life threatening variety (dislocated inward and threatened to crush his trachea).

Sometimes I wonder if his injury history has more to do with the Packers always being extra pre-cautious regarding injuries... as in he could play through the pain but the Packers just don't need him to.

I'm with you here. I think the defense has been good enough, even though they really only have one elite guy in Cam Wake.

Sometimes resource scarcity dictates over-responding to procure the scarce resource.

    #1WRs don't grow on trees.

Our fiscal and personnel responsibility and frugality in other areas has allowed us the ability to overspend if necessary to procure the #1WR we need and make sure Tannehill, Philbin, and the next four years are not wasted.

Sometimes you spend the extra few bucks so as not to waste the WHOLE SALARY of the team if it isn;t successful.

I don't think it is. I think all Philbin needs to show is improvement next year. If we go 8-8 or 9-7 and look like a team on the rise, especially on offense I don't think he is in trouble. It takes 3 years to rebuild a team. And probably whether we like it or not, Ireland will get the chance to rebuild this team and see it through. Same standards apply to him, as I am believing he's convinced Ross that the first build with Parcells he didn't have much to do with. (I don't believe that but he's convinced Ross of that)

So we are once again next year in a quandry as fans. Root for the team, and they get better, Ireland probably stays for a while or root for them to lose and he could go somewhere else. I'm tired of the losing though.

Now all bets are off if we start out like 1-5 or 1-6, then they both could be jettisoned quickly.

I would love to get Keller, Amendola and let Hartline walk, and draft a stud WR or TE in the 1st, whoever is higher on the board, and then get either the TE or WR which we didn't get in the 2nd round and then use both of the 3rd's on 2ndary help.

Agreed, but I do think in that instance you'd need to get a significantly bigger threat at TE.

Ross believed we were a playoff caliber team this year. It stands to reason that with another off season of improvements, that should be the goal.

The schedule is significantly more challenging next year, but goals are goals. I expect to be in the playoffs.

Well Ireland building through the draft has gotten us 7-9, 7-9, 6-10 and no better than 8-8 this year if we are lucky.

So yeah that strategy has been working wonders.

    :tantrum:

Really ? Can some people be this blindly loyal ? Do they really think they are disloyal if they disagree with the organization ?

It very well could be his starting that game. I swear he needs to go on "Survivor". He'd win the million with comfort and ease.

I think the most likely outcome in free agency is they find some sort of reclamation project or short-term holdover in addition to drafting someone... Chad Johnson and Legedu Naanee weren't successful examples by any means, but it's the type of players... Either veterans you can expect to contribute short term while developing someone else, or a young player who hasn't hit their upside.

I think Tyler Eiffert can play his position better than the top receivers in the draft can play their's..get Austin after, and you bring three special dynamics to the objective of scoring.

Imo, It's pretty close minded to not want to add a solid vet to this unit..in the condition that it is.

I still think Philbin gets a full 3 years here.

This is Ross' 1st hire and I think he'll give him a longer leash than folks think because of that.

What people don't take into account is how hard will Miami be to sell to any FA wide receiver.

So far Tannehill is not the attraction that working with even just taking into account rookie QB's would be.

And the team as a whole, while we are fans, the players aren't, and they want to win. Let's face it, this team isn't getting to the playoffs until 2014 at the earliest, and even longer to actually win a playoff game. Why would you want to come to a team and sign a 3 year deal if you felt you could go to at least 20 other teams in the NFL and have a better chance at winning sooner ?

If I am Greg Jennings, while I might like Coach Philbin, what incentive other than my friendship with him would make me sign here ?

South Beach, warm weather, a boat load of money, no state income tax, a good young QB to work with and very little competition on the roster at WR.

nawwwwww....10% I do feel he will see some time in one of these last 3 games.

Now about him bening cut before the 1st game in 2014, I like the 60% there.

No, you're right, clearly the problem is building through the draft. Brilliant. Thanks for setting me straight. I say **** the draft!!!!!!! Let's not draft anybody!!!!!!!!!

I mean we've drafted people for the last 30 years and we haven't won a SB in that time.

Seriously, thank you. You've opened my eyes.

A trade ? For what a bag of potato chips ?

Dude the guy can't even make the active roster for a team that needs receiving help desperately. He has zero trade value at this point.

People said Jake Long was the best at his position 3 years ago, and now he's possibly just top 8 and sliding. Pouncey is very good, but then he better be, we drafted him 13th I believe !

As for Tannehill being a franchise QB, that is a question that can't be answered yet, and probably not for 2 more years.

Your list has just as much chance to be great as it has to be a failure too.

I think Ross said that to sell tickets, if you want the truth from me. He probably knows enough (even though I have said I think he is clueless many times) to know it will take time for Philbin & Co. to rebuild the team in their mold. Philbin I am sure laid that out in his plan when he was interviewing. If he didn't then yes his job could even be in jeopardy this year due to unfulfilled goals from the owner.

But even as clueless as we think Ross is, don't you think he said that to sell a few more tickets ? I know it puts unrealistic expectations out there, but you have to sell tickets at all costs. The NFL is not just about winning on the field, its about winning in the money coffers too.

I think Amendola may get more than a role player contract. At least his ability may dictate that. Edelman is tricky to me, because I think NE may value him more, especially since it looks like Welker may be gone.

One big thing that looks important to me is bringing in someone that can play on the outside. One of the best things about Hartline is that he can play anywhere on the field, but right now Miami doesn't have the luxury of being able to move him around.

I do think Hixon and Jennings are legit options though.
