And dare I say Foles has better surrounding talent.

Remember many people thought the Eagles would bounce back and have a run at a SB possibly.

I think some people just don't grasp how bad the offensive talent is on this team. It's very close to epically bad. Less than 30 TD's and we are more than 3/4's done with the season ? Tom Brady just THREW his 45'th TD pass last night - that doesn't include their running TD's and turnover TD's.....

I think they do. It's just that bad. Some here just refuse to look at the stats and believe them.

absolutely he has. On those rollouts and when he hits the guys on the run, throwing across his body a few times, that is not something just anyone can do. And his speed on his runs, that is just not seen on a lot of QB's.

Look this guy is raw and is a project. If anyone thought otherwise they just weren't living in the real world. But there is enough talent there to work with. He seems to be reading defenses a lot better than I thought he would.

Does everyone forget that Peyton Manning through over 30 INT's his 1st season ?

The reason Heckert might be a good candidate is that he used to be one of our guys.

Worked for the Dolphins 1991-2000. Wanny let him leave and then the quality of players went down. He then was in Philadelphia and assembled the team that eventually went to a Super Bowl.

If I am Ross, I target Heckert and sign him very quickly.

If we the fans can see this, then why couldn't our GM ? That is why Ireland has to go.

Oh the attendance will be about the same as the last home game, announced as 55,000 but in reality around 40,000 there. Those are the hardcore ones. They wouldn't miss if there own wife or kids were in the hospital dying - they'd just tell them wait to die until the game is over.

Not from me, who is one of Ireland's biggest critics.

This pick was all on Sherman - this boy is his baby. Sherman may have even only taken the job with the promise of taking Tannehill. Who knows, we will never get the real background story on THill's pick. It will be an organization spin job no matter what happens, good or bad.

Not from reasonable people. Some of us realize that this was not the kind of QB Ireland would normally take. He took this QB because he was pressured into, of that I am almost 100 % certain.

I am guessing (pure speculation, but reasonable one) that Sherman had Philbin's ear and most possibly Ross's too and told them we have to have Tannehill. Then the presssure was applied to Ireland and from what we have seen in the past Ireland will do anything necessary to keep his job, including turning his back on a friend and stabbing them.

He may even be able to save himself, if Tannehill flops by saying I told you so, if in fact he was not in favor of the pick and let Ross know his reservations about THill.

    Links please.

I have the notion this is one of those Internet Myths that are told so many times they become fact.

Tannehill does not run the kind of offense that Ireland has worked to build in the past, so it would be very out of character for him, especially given the high risk Tannehill involves. Ireland rarely makes an "unsafe" pick.

Hmmmm, interesting. Well that's one more Internet Myth shot down, that Ireland was gung ho on Tannehill. I knew that couldn't be true.....it was just completely out of character for Ireland.

What ever happened to the intial game plan? Remember Tannehill was going to be put on the Aaron Rodgers plan, developed for 2 or 3 years and then unleashed on the NFL. Problem is he beat out the incumbant and got thrust onto the scene before the coaches had a chance to refine he game. So the fact that he is still raw should surprise no one. The fact that he shows flashes of brillance should raise hope. In fact based on what we have seen so far he looks to be ahead of schedule, which again is a good thing. The downside to Tannehill starting is that some fans are just too impatient to live through the learning curve.

And he might really enjoy the challenge of growing an offense, something that seems to turn the stomach of Ireland.

He actually TRADED for Bush. Sproles wasn't interested unless we broke the bank so Ireland had to trade to get the running back he wanted.

Jeffy likes to play safe. He wouldn't do that ever in the 1st round. Trading up in the 3rd round no problem.

Except it isn't a myth. He was high on Tannehill before Philbin's and Sherman's arrival. I've provided a link for you. Use it.

No the article is irrelevant. Ireland says what he needs to say to spin things after he drafts a player.

I want proof before Philbin was here or even thought of.

At the risk of making Henne-like excuses for Tannehill - a few thoughts -

He never gets the cheap TD. It's almost like the personnel around him turns him into a Pennington-type QB. Every play has to be perfect, lots of 3rd down conversions - to score, he has to put together 10-15 play drives without making a mistake. And that's without much of a run game, either. How many of those Griffin plays, or Cam Newton's plays last year, were just balls launched deep? The Dolphins can never execute a similar play.

He may not be playing as well as those other QBs - but from the moment we drafted him we knew he was behind them in terms of QB experience. The fact that he isn't out there making tons of mistakes is a good sign to me. As we get more playmakers around him and he gains more experience, hopefully he'll be able to take advantage and start putting points on the board.

Has anyone else noticed a dip in his accuracy since his injury? It doesn't play out in his Comp%, but it seems to me that at the beginning of the year he was putting the ball in some incredible places and where only the WR could get it. It seems since the injury a lot more balls are sailing on him or he doesn't have the same accuracy. Hopefully those good passes at the beginning of the year weren't a mirage, but they seem to be less frequent of late.

Cool? People do lie. Don't see why Ireland needs to lie regarding this. He said he was high on him. He was.

This is because of the defense actually. They don't create many if any at all short drive opportunities for the offense. The dearth of turnovers also is hurting our offense.

1 turnover in 6 games. Let that sink in.

There isn't one. There is never a time you will see a GM talk of a player during the regular season. He has no need to. It's the regular season, no reason to talk specifically about draft prospect.

If you're not satisfied with the link, that's fine. You asked for proof and that is proof. Straight from the man who drafted him.

Other sources contradict that. CK made a lengthy post regarding it. Ireland's on the hook for Tannehill regardless, but given the evidence available I think he wasn't high on Tannehill at all prior to Sherman and others coming on board.

And that just underscores how there's really no one here who has the wherewithal to truly judge Jeff Ireland's performance at any time during his tenure. We simply lack the inside knowledge to do so.

The mistaken belief that we should feel so certain in crucifying him for the team's performance comes not from true knowledge of the situation, but from the need for a scapegoat.

He's "on the hook" for it, but don't be surprised if you see that the level of credit he gets for the pick if it pans out is directly related to people's perceptions of Jeff Ireland beforehand.

Believe what you want to believe. Unless you can provide PROOF he felt this way before the draft, there is doubt in what he says. His past forces me to think this way.

With his spin on it. I just wanted you to admit there is no proof of this "myth" of his being high on Tannehill before it was convenient for him to speak that way about him.

I actually don't think he should be held responsible if you can believe that, because I truly think he was forced by outside pressures into taking Tannehill. If Tannehill is a bust I won't blame Ireland.

I agree. Ireland's gone all in publicly however, and while Ross likely had a hand in Tannehill's selection as well it won't be Ross losing his job.

    His record speaks for itself.

If you believe he is the one that "hired" and "chose" Philbin and Sherman, then he can certainly hold them to the fire if Tannehill is a bust. Do you think he would fire them or would he let himself be sacrificed ?

No way that happens, because we all know, that as has always been the case in this franchises history the OWNER hires and fires the HC.

Ross hired Philbin and told Ireland to deal with it, and in order to please Ross, Tannehill was drafted.

If you believe differently then you don't live in the real world.
