Seems like about 5 or 6 weeks ago there were threads about how all of Irelands picks the last couple years were turning heads and working out. Now after the offense can't score for many weeks, it's fire Ireland again. At least it's in a thread about Ireland this time. That's something different.

To me, this is an argument in favor of flushing them all, not an argument in favor of saying "Maybe Parcells is OK after all".

Maybe an animatronic buffalo that craps on the field?

Ravens just fired Cam Cameron. That's right, an AFC Super Bowl contender still isn't satisfied. That's what a winning team is like. Why should we be satisfied with 4 straight losing seasons? Watching the Colts and Seahawks with rookie QB's, because they added talent around them rather than take it away, make the leap to the playoffs doesn't help either.

And the damn Jets are actually alive in the playoff race. That disaster of a team is somehow better than us right now. :pity:

Kinda surprising given that they were 9th in PPG. We're 27th, btw.

The Jets were just as alive as the Dolphins in the playoff race yesterday. They're not going to make it, though.

But yeah, fire someone. Doesn't really matter who will make me feel better.

Dear lord, Caldwell still has a job in the NFL? And they thought going to him from Cameron would be an improvement?

So you're saying the Ravens' offense will be better now?

Firing Cameron in favor of Caldwell is desperation, nothing more. This is an uncharacteristic move of the Ravens, but they probably see the wide-open AFC and feel like they have as good a chance as anyone else.

I can't believe anyone would employ Jim Caldwell. He is very clearly at least mildly ******ed.

Caldwell was the Colts' QB coach/assistant head coach.

No I don't think the Ravens offense will be any better, but they're at least trying to do something about it, which is all they can do right now. Rather than standing still in the same place like we've been doing. I just hate watching the Colts, Seahawks, Vikings, Rams, Buccaneers actually show improvements in their records, while we just keep getting the same results or worse every season.

That is the number of points the Phins have scored in their last 6 games. Guess which of those games we won? Yes, the one where we scored 24 (our 3rd highest offensive output).

The offense simply has been offensively bad this year. It is clear that this team needs an upgrade at WR, a redzone threat, and a tightend opposite Fasano who can make plays. We are anemic as heck on offense, Mr. Ireland. The fanbase sees it, you probably see it, and I wouldn't doubt that Ray Charles sees this in 20/20. How you can put yourself in a position to say we have a ton of "4s, 5s, and 6s" and not "1s, 2s, and 3s" is inexcusable for a paid professional in the NFL. God help us if we trot out an offense this terrible next year.

Realistically they have had a Super Bowl type team for the past 3 years, and cant get it done because their offense fails them when they need it.....This guy and the OC we have are one in the same....

So was Seattle, except we actually won.

Of course, everyone's a genius with a plan (more like a complaint) after things start to not go their way.

IMO they aren't close to a SB team. They've really been able to get more wins than they deserve IMO.

    Sure they will.

Any idiot (Cameron) that can't manage to give the ball to their best player on offense (Ray Rice) deserves to be canned.

I don't think there is something going on behind the scenes, he's a conservative play-caller that doesn't utilize that team's offensive talent.

Although, Lee Evans should have caught that pass and Billy Cundwhiff should have made that field goal. That wasn't on him. If anything I thought the defense gave up the game against the Redskins and not the offense. They have a ton of injuries this year.

That's the scary thing about the Dolphins, they are relatively healthy team for this time of year. jake Long is the lone "major" injury.

Think how bad it could have been around here had Hartline's injury turned out worse than it was, and maybe Bess and Fasano were out as well ?

Dansby and Tannehill have been injured as well. So has Richard Marshall. I wouldn't say they are relatively healthy.

They were a ball in Lee Evans hands and a missed gimme field goal away from the SB last year.

Like others have said, I think this is a desperation move. Total offense doesn't really mean ****. It's all about points.

Yeah, they're not close to a Super Bowl team, except that they came as close to the Super Bowl as you can possibly get.

    four consecutive losing seasons.

If Ireland is fired, that is probably the reason.

I do agree that it doesn't automagically fix all of Miami's problems. However I could see why it could be done.

I don't see how it automatically fixes any.

For whatever Ireland's missed on that people have been pissed off about, can you imagine how hysterical they'd be when we bring in some new guy who could potentially piss away the most money and draft picks we've had in how long?

That'd probably have a mass suicide/purging effect on our fanbase. Might not be the worst thing ever..

If Miami hires a new GM, he won't be a target of the histrionics for a couple of years at least. Next year's histrionics will be directed at Mike Sherman, bet on it.

Without a doubt, Ireland had better address the wr position this year, and do it right. Same for offensive line. I can live with him another year, but he had got to do better in those areas.
As a side note, Congratulations on Southern Mississippi hiring Todd Monken, the offensive coord. for Oklahoma St. USM finished in the bottom 3 teams in offensive numbers among all D1 teams, and was the only D1 team to go winless. This courteous of Ellis Johnson, Mr. SEC defensive guru, who forgot there are multiple units. Thank you Ellis Johnson for destroying 18 years of winning at USM.
