Clayton on Sportscenter mentioned Marty S coming here to be HC, he said something about "A quick turnaround" being planned for the Phins. We'll see, everything is up in the air now, Mock Drafts may have to be adjusted..
"Maybe" Bill P had a nice battle over Phil Simms so who knows? This starts getting fuzzy at the point the HC makes decisions, and what Bill P would like to see happen here.
Yeah but he had his shot. Bring in Colt Brennan and open up the offense. Damn, this has been a sweet week.....we win our first game and get the Tuna all in one week...NFL players are going to want to come to Miami now.
as much as id love Brennan, Ryan, or Brohm here....and as much as i dont like Beck much either, i still think u should give him a good OL, receivers who can catch, a good running game....THEN judge him. if he still doesnt work, Tim Tebow is coming out next year or the year after.
Somethign tells me Bill will like Beck. Even though Beck has looked like **** with this joke of an offense around him.....he has shown some balls and resourcefulness. I can see Bill keeping him but bringing in another QB to battle with him. Not a top draft pick though. Not sure if that is the right move but who knows. Part of me is sick of putting bandaids on the QB position and wants the Fins to draft a franchise QB. Part of me thinks many of those guys don't pan out and we need help in other areas.
Cam probably knew darn well that Brady Quinn will never be a franchise quarterback, and in fact last draft was very weak in QB’s. Like this year with wide receivers. This is the year for quarterback. We will probably take one. We will probably be picking pretty high next year as well. That’s three years, enough to build a franchise any way you want. I say we are going to be looking pretty good. I don’t see that we needed the Tuna to make it happen…
If this is true, then why did cam decide on drafting Beck at all? Not counting Beck out but with how the season played out, it'd actually be better if he weren't on the team.
One of the guys in VIP mentioned the Mort chat from before it was revealed that Parcells was headed here:
Why do people continue to want Cameron and Mueller here another year? We should be 0-16, if it wasn't for a missed field goal thats what we would be. I am so happy that Parcells is on board now. No more dumb GM moves because of knowing someones family. Time for Marty Ball now and get rid of Mueller.
Parcells would be inclined to take one of the quarterbacks. Let he and Beck battle it out. And why not?
Whoa, people want my specific opinion? Wacky. If Parcells can restrain himself and only exercise oversight authority, then he should be fine. Clearly, some front office changes are coming, but the scope of the change is unknown. I expect Randy Mueller to get the axe after the draft, simply because Mueller and Parcells have no connections and very likely disagree on draft philosophy, or will at least conflict on what to do with the pick. I'd be surprised if Mueller and Parcells work out. Jeff Ireland, the Cowboys' director of scouting, has been mentioned as serious GM candidate. Ireland had as much a hand as Parcells and Jones in the Cowboys' recent drafts, so he wouldn't be a bad talent evaluator to have around. Mike Tannenbaum and Scott Pioli have also been mentioned, but why would they leave? (Also, Tannenbaum sucks.) I'd like Cameron to be retained, but there's word that Parcells wanted to bring Maurice Carthon and/or Todd Haley to Atlanta, which means he may want to bring either of those guys to Miami. Granted, Atlanta has no head coach, so Parcells may have simply seen an opportunity to plug a reliable person in there, but there's nothing stopping him from firing Cameron and filling the hole. If Parcells can't restrain himself from being the meddlesome boss he chafed under in Jerry Jones (and Robert Kraft to a lesser extent) then we may have problems. Parcells specifically did not want to be a head coach or a GM, so there's hope that he won't play Football God. Everyone who wants Jason Garret as our head coach got a nice boost today.
But Parcells is already a Football God. Keys to this Franchise have already been turned over. Whatever Happens to HC, GM, and even the QB position is now his total Call................
We had years of "Marty Ball." Having a good season and losing in the playoffs year after year is not what this team needs... ...again...
Parcells indeed runs this team now, but the question is whether he's more interested in wholesale changes or mere adjustments. We also don't know which side of the administration--coaching or management--he wants to overhaul first, if any. What I'm trying to say is that if Parcells attempts to install a head coach and a general manager specifically such that he will be doing their jobs by default, then he's an automatic failure. He wasn't hired to be the coach and GM. He was hired to supervise the head coach and GM. Parcells was offered the GM position and turned it down, which tells us two things: one, that rumors of Wayne leaning more towards getting rid of Mueller than Cameron are true; and two, that Parcells truly doesn't want to deal with the day-to-day stress and grind of coaching and personnel evaluation.
Regarding RoninFin4's quote... it actually points more towards Chris Long than Vernon Gholston. Ryan Clady's 10% shot at being a Dolphin just lost the 1.
He could do that easily. Let Lemon, Beck, and the new guy battle it out in preseason. Realistically, next year is a losing campaign too, so it will give both time to develop.
Not only does he not want to, he physically can't. I see Parcells being very hands off with the coach, but that might be a reason Cameron stays. However, I kind of Hope that Parcells is hands-on with the GM he hires. I like the idea that, on draft, no decision is made with Parcells approval.
dude, parcells is going to be very hands-on hes basically going to be the GM. whomever is hired as the GM will basically be doing most of the legwork, with parcells pulling the strings and calling the shots. in terms of the coach, i dont think parcells will be criticizing every move. but he will be bringing in a coach that knows him and knows what he wants. hes not going to keep cameron, because that will be a disaster. in terms of immediate personnel, i think one of the main reasons parcells chose us over atlanta is because we already run a 'big' 3-4. i really can't envision any draft pick other than dorsey. DT is our biggest need, , it is the most crucial for parcell's system, and dorsey is probably the most talented player in this draft aside from mcfadden. offensively, do not look for parcells to make any huge moves. from what i hear, he believes we can make a quick turnaround and be competitive soon. so i would expect him to bring in a veteran QB, a legitimate #1 WR, and some help on the o-line. again, while some people think that parcells is just going to hire a gm and sit back and watch, they are wrong. parcells will be very involved in personnel moves. the GM will primarily be his assistant per se.
That may or may not be true. What little we've heard is that Parcells is inclined to keep Cameron. If Parcells intervenes directly as you say, then we're likely going with Chris Long.
i dont think parcells is going to waste any time seeing what cameron can or cannot do as head coach. at this point i dont think anyone can definitively say that cameron is a good or bad coach, but i dont think he is a parcells type of coach. hes more of an x's and o's guy. i can see a scenario where cam is kept as an offensive coordinator possibly. i think its safe to say capers is going to gone. he doesn't run a parcells-type scheme and i don't think capers really wants to be here, plus he is making a lot of money for a DC. i really see the entire staff being new. i dont see parcells bringing in someone like jason garrett. i could imagine schottenheimer maybe. or maybe even mike singletary. there have been rumors of carthon also, that is a real possibility. but im pretty sure that whoever our HC is, its going to be a parcells guy.
This is your opinion. As long as the reports say Parcells likes Cameron, then I'm going to go with what the reports say. If it comes out that Parcells doesn't like Cameron, then you'll be right. Parcells also values a pass rush. Chris Long would play a hybrid DE/OLB for the Patriots; he'd do the same thing here. Right now, I'm projecting Chris Long as our #1 pick over Glenn Dorsey. Depending on what happens with Capers and the defense, this may change (again.)
1. its not really an issue of parcells liking cameron. i like cameron, i just think he was brought here to give us a potent offense, which is something that parcells is not going to look to a head coach to do. cameron may be kept here as a coordinator. 2. the more i think about it, the more chris long makes sense. i could really see that pick.
It's against NFL rules to demote a head coach, and Cameron wouldn't accept the demotion anyway. That would humiliate the man to no end. Cameron is either the head coach or is gone. Right now, he's the head coach.
against NFL rules to demote a head coach??? i did not know that but i can tell you, that if cameron is fired, hes not getting another head coaching job in the NFL
