This is where Selig has to step in. ***** slap Loria and force him to sell the team.

Loria should be disciplined or have MLB take the team over until a buyer can be found. How can Marlins function as a major league team? How are they ever going to sign another free agent who has another option?

No agent will ever trust them again

Marlins fans... I wouldn't be so upset. I follow the Jays very closely here. I can tell you this... I'm not a fan of the deal from the Jays end of things. The prospects and players they Jays gave up for these guys, aren't slouches.

Mathis is a solid backup catcher, at least he was here to Arencibia. Mathis played well while JP was injured.

Henderson Alvarez is a very talented young pitcher. He started out pretty well this year, struggle mid season, and had some quality starts as the season was coming to a close. He's young, but his stuff is good. He's going to develop into a damn good pitcher IMO.

Escobar is an excellent short stop. Defensively, its hard to find one better. I think his work ethic has been questioned in the past, but he was never too much of a problem in Toronto like he was in Atlanta. As a hitter, Escobar is good there as well. Expect proably .250 out of him. He has decent power, but he did struggle at the plate sometimes this year.

Justin Nicolino is very young, but has some very incredible stuff apparently for a kid his age. During all the "minor league reports" during Jays telecasts this year, they were always featuring this kid talking about a great performance basically every time he took the mound. He's got a long way to go, but the upside and potential is huge.

Hechavarria... another talented young middle infielder. He's the one I really wish the Jays didn't have to let go. I often heard people comparing his ability and potential to that of Roberto Alomar type of player. He got alot of playing time the end of this year due to injuries for the Jays, and he did strugle at the plate, but I think he needs another year or so in the minors. If I remember correctly he had good numbers down there this year before being forced into the big leagues, so its again, just a matter of time with him.

Im happy with what we got from you guys reportedly.. however, I'm not to pleased by what we gave up.

Nicolino and Alvarez intrigue me. Escobar is a fine shortstop.

The rest are probably back ups/low end starters at best.

He's not Hispanic, so he wouldn't allow the Marlins to pander. Apparently Loria thinks people will go to the games to see Hispanic players rather than good players.

Escobar is garbage. His production is nowhere near worth the headache and immaturity.

Nothing to get excited about..... You also only get him for 1 year and i doubt the skin flint Loria is going to pick up his 2 options

I'm not. Just don't think he's garbage. Probably average, but if he hits he's above average with his defense.

Toronto is probably ecstatic that he was taken off of their hands in the deal. He's an average baseball player who has no idea what being a professional means. None. He was in a dugout with Bobby Cox and had Edgar Renteria to mentor him when he was coming up in Atlanta and he still didn't get it.

Except for when it's a guy who thought it was OK to take the field in a professional baseball game with an anti-gay slur painted under his eyes. And that's only his most well known WTF moment.

    You're doing it wrong!

It's probably about .280 with our short ice rink infield and huge outfield.

But he's going to hit for negative 13 homeruns.

Aside from the incident that got him in trouble this year, Escobar was never a headache, or immature in Toronto from everything I recall compared to his stint in Atlanta. He was an outstanding defensive short stop, who hit well here.

To say he's garbage... is... well... garbage.

If you look at his stats he was generally a better offensive player in Atlanta than in Toronto. His OBP last season was a pretty unspectacular .300. [bad actually] He hit career lows in basically every major category last season. When you decide to blow up a team and start over I don't know why you decide a player like Yunel Escobar should be a part of that.

Because you also acquired his replacement in Hechavarria... who's not quite ready yet. So you fill the hole temporarily with Escobar. Sure, he had a bad year at the plate last year, but defensively he more than makes up for it with his glove, and his arm. If I remember correctly, outside of last year, his numbers at the plate were better in previous years. For a while Toronto had him hitting leadoff too, which is not his best spot IMO

This team seriously makes it hard to root for these days. I don't know what to say. This takes all the wind out of my Marlins fan sail. I will still follow this team but am leaning more and more to my former local team, Washington. Really just disheartening to see whatever talent we have be traded away and our superstar clearly unhappy.
