I really do not know why people are SOOO stuck on height. Charles Barkley was like 6'5" or maybe 6'6" he had a GREAT career at the 4. Now if he is saying he is a 3... That would make me a bit more nervous. Like he does not want to be pounding down low...

Sir Chuck was an exception to the rule though. Alot of players that were successful shorter Pf's in college struggled in the pros, or did not make the same kind of impact, Corliss Williamson is the first that comes to mind.

Stronger, tougher, better shooter, better leader, far more aggressive, etc.

Only edge Odom has is length and passing skills. I think Beasley is the toughest prospect to compare to an active NBA player I've seen since LeBron James. He's too tough to compare to a small forward, and too versatile to compare to a power forward. He's a "cross between" type of player - truly unique. I'd say he's a cross between Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony. DX's "Amare Stoudemire meets Antwan Jamison" is a good comparison as well:

Exactly. Miami can offer Wade more than any other team in the league, and we will. Unless Miami doesn't want Wade in 2010, then he isn't going anywhere. I'd bet my NBA League Pass on that.

Not wanting him would be down right foolish.

What if Dwyane Wade never makes a full recovery and/or gets hampered with injuries throughout the next few years? Penny Hardaway v2 doesn't deserve a max contract. I highly doubt this happens as I actually think he's going to be in the MVP talks next season, but anything is possible.

I'm worried that Wade wants to play more than he wants to be healthy. I mean, getting electrode therapy for his knee just so he can play in the Olympics? I hope that doesn't backfire on us.

He did look in pretty good shape at the draft, though.

What's this garbage about Miami trading Wade to Chicago for the first pick, then Miami turning around and selecting Rose and Beasley? Man. The Chicago Tribune will do anything for viewers......

& the NBA released official measurements:

Derrick Rose: 6'2 1/2 in shoes
Michael Beasley: 6'8 1/4 in shoes

Um, pretty unexpected on both accounts.

That writer is nuts. Did you see what he suggested?

Chicago trades: #1 overall, fillers
Miami trades: Dwyane Wade, #2 overall

LOL! What a joke. Chicago Tribune has lost the little bit of respect it had left.

To be fair D-Wade might be lucky to play 50 games a year the way he plays.

If Miami did this, they would probably never live it down. Stick at number 2 and pick the leftovers (Beasley). There is nothing wrong with getting the number two in this instance as either one fits a need.

Unless, of course, Riley knows more than we all do (which he does) and Wade was perhaps damaged goods, but seeing as how these "reports" are out of Chicago, something tells me that it smells like horse manure.

he has ONE Major injury nad he just took the last month of this past season off in Operation Lottery. Other than that, Wade plays an average of 75 games a year which is fine.

    ONE INJURY.

    He is not Injury prone.

I don't know if you can discount the time off though. For his career he is averaging 63 games a season, or roughly 77% of a typical NBA season. Even if you discount this last year where he called it quits early for surgery, his average only goes up to 66 games a year, or 80%.

Heck, even if you through THAT season out and just went by his first three seasons, he still averages only 71 a season. Only twice in his five year career has he played more than 70 games in the regular season.

LeBron James, for example, has played in an average of 78 games a season and has never missed more than seven games in a season (2007-08). And Carmelo Anthony is at 76 games a year and only played less than 75 games once. (2006-07).

While it is probably too early to dub Dwayne Wade injury prone (like Kobe or Shaq or, to an extreme, Grant Hill), he is certainly taking a lot of wear and tear on his body and as he gets older, it isn't going to get any better for him.

I really think 2008-09 needs to be a bounce back season for Dwayne in terms of consistancy of being on the floor and in the game, or he may start to lose some of his luster around the league.

He did not call it quits early for surgery this year. he had "REAL" surgery last offseason.

he intentionally sat out the last 30 games for Operation lottery. His "surgery" announcement amounted to some BS treatment.

Forward is not a position of need on the Heat. PG, C, and defensive specialists on the bench are our needs.

we also need a shooter/scorer to play forward when we go small with Marion at PF.

I'm not sure that's something we need to address immediately. That is, would you rather see Marion and Beasley in 2008 or grab Brand or Boozer in 2009? I'd love to have Carlos Boozer on this team. Would love it. One of the most underrated players in the NBA right now.

I'd rather just get Wade back to health, pair him with Rose and Marion, get some defensive guys on the bench (why the hell did we let Posey go again?) and get the 3 seed next year.

Why don't they trade down and just draft a Mayo? I'm not sure if I would want a undersized Power Foward anyways.

Miami can't trade the pick. We have to wait until the 26th, select a player, then trade him.

Also, I wouldn't call Michael Beasley an undersized power forward due to his height alone. His wingspan is fine, and he's said to have "power forward hands" - plus, he's 19. He can grow an inch or at least a half of an inch, and he probably will. He's going to be listed as a 6'9/235 rookie.

But I do actually think that O.J. Mayo is becoming Miami's primary target outside of Rose.

Yet another reason why the NBA draft is broken. Draft picks are commodities. The lottery should be done away with, and trades shouldn't be based on equal dollar value of contracts.

Apparently the Chicago press is almost as dumb as the Miami press. (Makes sense, liberalism is a universal institution in the "news" industry, but that's a topic for the pofo.)

    I wouldn't trade Wade/Beasley for Rose/Chicago's entire roster.

I think we can do away with those talks, lol.

Don't worry. I can guarantee that it hasn't even been discussed in a serious manner. Thankfully, we've got Pat Riley running the show - not John Paxson, who would probably consider such a deal if he was in charge of the Heat.

So was trading Pau Gasol for two low 1st rounders, an underachieving project at PG with a glut of young PG's already on the roster, and a 6'11 bust who'd give Derek Hagan a run for his money in the worst hands competition. Not saying that trade rumor about Wade has any validity but strange things have happened.

I am a Bulls and Heat fan, and that rumor is just FUNNY. No way it happens. The ONLY way Riley would think of this if Wade's injuries are more than we know. Like if they think he can not return to form... then trading him now before the rest of the world knows he is hurt makes sense. However, if that is not the case... then this is just humor.
