PERFECT comparison. Posey is a tough hard defender that puts it all on the line. IF on your team you love him, if on your opponent you hate him...:hi5:

Interesting. Nice read. Just got one question, why Kosta Koufous?

He seems undersized at weight, he weighs in at 265. He would ideally put on weight but would it affect his abilities? I wonder how he would fit in Miami's plans? If they plan on running a "Run-n-Gun" offense, he could fit in. But if they run a slowed down offense, I wonder how he would fit. Would they spread the floor?

Hopefully KiNG can elaborate on this.

Remember, Wade's leaving in 2010 as a free agent. The Knicks will sign him as part of their 2010 plan, don't you know? :001_rolleyes:

I think we need to take Rose more than we need to find the perfect fit. A Wade-centric team will inherently be closer to Phoenix's style than what we've seen with Shaq.

Not interested in a guy that needs that much schooling without some standout physical ability.

My guy as I have been saying for months is DeAndre Jordan. I have never...NEVER..EVER seen a more athletic 7 footer that weighed 265.

This guy beats his team to the front court...grabs a rebound...throws it out to the three point line and then is involved in the 4 on 3 break.

We don;t have the ammo to trade into the top 10 to take him...and he is not worth a top 5 pick either.

That's the guy I was going to ask about if they moved to the 13th spot, I couldn't remember his name. I was going to say Dermarr lol.

    Nope.

    Maybe a Haslem trade..and I wouldn;t do it.

DeAndre Jordan is a spectacular athlete and I have made it obvious that I am intrigued by the guy...but he has NO BASKETBALL SKILLS whatsoever and he is the consumate boom or bust candidate.

He is just a great athlete that can turn into a Shawn Kemp...His upside is huge.

    Good comparison.

Although Tyson Chandler is on the high end of his comparables along with Shawn Kemp and Andrew Bynum.

Koufos does not seem like a great fit for the Heat. I suppose they could do worse, but any team that has Shawn Marion and Dwyane Wade should be looking to run, run, run. That's not Koufos, who's been compared with Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Now, Big Z has had a fine NBA career, and there's nothing wrong with having a guy like that at center, but if you want to be a fast-breaking team, you'd better have a big man that can run the floor. Like this guy...

A lot of those late lottery picks are going to be available. Portland, for instance, is unlikely to have anyone available at 13 who can help them. They'll be looking to deal the pick. Milwaukee might be looking to trade down, since they'll be looking for a small forward, and #8 is too high to take one. A three way trade to get the #8 pick, send the #13 to the Bucks and send some future considerations to the Blazers might be appealing for everyone. You could probably get Jordan there.

If the Heat traded down from #2 to #3 (assuming Rose goes #1), they could probably pick up quite a bit of ammunition for any such deal.

Well, if I was running the Heat, I'd sit tight and happily pick Beasley unless someone absolutely blew me away with a trade offer. (Actually, if I was running the Heat, I'd trade Dwyane Wade to Detroit for a bag of chips and a six pack of beer, but that's besides the point.) However, it seems that they want Rose badly and if they don't get him, will seriously entertain a trade offer so they can pick Mayo. That's not what I'd do, but if they're going to do it, they might as well do it right.

Or hell, they could swap spots with Minnesota, get Randy Foye (who would also be a fine fit next to Wade), and then parlay the 3rd pick into more stuff.

I think Beasley is too valuable to move unless you're going to be handed an All-Star caliber big man, i.e. Chris Bosh, Al Jefferson, or another young big who is already established. You've got to project Beasley as a 20/10 guy from early on in his career (probably year two or three, maybe even year one) at the very least, and I think that's too much to pass up on for #3-5 plus a marginal talent. I like Randy Foye, but I don't think he's enough to make the jump for, seeing how our likely target would be O.J. Mayo.

An all-star player + another starter or lottery pick should be a required.

    Dwyane Wade playing GM????????

Derrick Rose is his boy, and obviously his preference. Hmmm.

    I just read that too.

Really, if the dude doesn't want to play there, it could certainly affect what happens. Yeah, he's from Chicago. But so is Wade. And the prospect of playing with him and a young coach is undeniable.

Miami would be looking at arguably the league's top backcourt. Those two and Marion could certainly allow us to return to our pre-Shaq, up-tempo game. :)

    Yes.

Also, I think this story is a bigger deal than most people make it out to be. I mean, forget about the media. Forget about Screaming A., Chad Ford, etc. This is Joey Dorsey. He's Derrick Rose's former teammate, and a very close friend of his. If anything, wouldn't he be trying to talk up his friend as the #1 pick? He definitely has the inside scoop with Rose. Interesting how Screaming A. was talking about Rose not wanting to play for Chicago on First Take this morning, THEN this story breaks.

As many other Heat posters on RealGM have said, I have "mentally prepared myself" for Michael Beasley, but I sure wouldn't mind Derrick Rose..........

I think at this point nothing is known. Everything is speculation. Should be fun to watch. Either way my two fav teams have the first two picks. Should I will be happy either way.

Honestly, it's become quite obvious that both players favor Miami. It's too bad Chicago will be breaking the bad news to one of them by making that player the first pick in the draft. :wink2:

So Michael Beasley is 6'8 1/2 with shoes......

& he's calling himself a "three who can play the four" - I don't like that.

Ugh. I think Derrick Rose just locked up the #1 pick in the draft, unless John Paxson has grown fond of the "Best of Larry Johnson" DVD.

Well, I don't know whether Wade or LeBron would necessarily jump to the Knicks in 2010, but I do know that the Knicks will try, and surely D'Antoni will be part of that.

Someone pointed out (and I forgot who, so don't ask me for a link) that the growing presence of Jay-Z in the Nets ownership is making the Heat and Cavs plenty nervous, since the Nets will have enough cap room if they don't screw it up, and Wade and LeBron were completely enthralled by the dude.

I fail to see the difference between 6'9 and 6'8 1/2. Many people are already making a big deal out of it. Add in the fact that men don't necessarily stop growing until age 21, and it becomes even less of an issue. Dorell Wright, for example, has grown almost a full two inches since Miami drafted him. Not an official measurement though. The official measurements should be released this week. Beasley said in an interview over the weekend that he's "6'8 1/2" - I'm guessing that he means with shoes.

I'm more concerned with the fact that he compares his play to Carmelo Anthony. Cross between [insert all-star power forward] and Carmelo Anthony? That's fine, because that's how I view him. However, calling himself a three who can play the four and making the Carmelo Anthony comparison outright? That's scary.

IMO, if he doesn't have a near perfect meeting with our staff, we're going O.J. Mayo via trade.
