Not buying it. A late april joke that is now coming forth and the source is Olbermann.. Sorry not getting my hopes up.
Your owner is Jeff Loria, so yes there is a chance.... It comes down to how much money they will have to eat to get it done......
Like I said on the previous page in this thread, there's no GM of a playoff team talking to other teams about making a team right now. It would be completely foolish to do on so many levels. Now that's not to say the Yankees won't try to trade him this offseason and while the Red Sox/Dodger trade proved anything can happen I do think it's going to be extremely difficult to try to move Arod for a number of reasons. But hey if the Yankees can all power to them. All it takes is just one dumb GM/team. One thing I'd LOVE to point out is that how some posters where knocking the Red Sox's FO/ownership group (and rightfully so) for going over the head of the GM/baseball ops people to make baseball decisions whether it was signing a player or a manager however is it too early to knock that great and classy Yankee ownership and front office for handing out that massive contract to Arod at age 32? And I'm going to love the further smear campaign to try and get Arod out of town this winter, those Yankee writers have to be high fiving each other just trying about the stories they're going to be writing on those cold winter days. The more you think you're different, the similiar you really are I guess.
So you're fine with not starting your best pitcher and one of the top pitchers in baseball in an elimination game and instead going with two guys that haven't pitched in a major league game since the season ended in Nova or Garcia, a pitcher who had to leave his startearly because of a back problem or two long relievers? At that point I'd be pretty nervous, of course if there's a game 7 the Yankees would be playing with house money anyway. I don't think Loria would take on that contract without the Yankees eating a ton of that contract, if not all of it. Or an even exchange of money going down. Of course all of this is moot if Arod rejects any trades. Not saying he will but he holds the keys here.
I wonder if Torrie Wilson is happy (is that the chick he bangs now)....the one mistake A-Rod made is he esstentially called the NY media "liars"....and for as brutal as the Boston media can be, NY's can be equally and in many cases more brutal....again they have to make it so uncomfortable for him to stay here that he just leaves...which is what I hope... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b...ng-controversy-identified-220642175--mlb.html also as to your vendetta 2nd paragraph, seeing that besides the hater trolls that come in here at this time to poke fun every year, there are only 4 regular posters here, so I think I know who you are talking about....................................
Yup I would be fine with Phelps and co........because of the bolded....in a Game 7 anything can happen...but dude come on it aint getting that far, what is this 2004? And I dont think people here are understanding, I do believe that the Yankees WOULD eat a ton of that money, I just think they want him gone at this point....or take Bell, or eat alot and take on ALL of Reyes contract or better yet JJ (hahahah okay okay I can dream)... It isnt impossible because the Yanks can afford to eat that contract....or most of it....all I am saying is tho is that the Marlins shouldnt expect to get A-Rod for free....he will draw business down there for them....
Yanks would sign up right now for a chance at Game 7 and wouldnt matter if a position player had to pitch it.
Yeah it is Torrie Wilson, yet another reason to dislike Arod. And I agree with your comparisons of the media too. As for my "vendetta 2nd paragraph" was it that obvious? Haha. The parallels are there though. Well again it's the whole thing of what the Dodgers SHOULD have done in August, they SHOULD have told the Red Sox fine we will take on that money but you're either going to have to take bad contracts back OR you're not getting anyone good. The more money you eat, the better package of players you'll get back will be. I agree it's not impossible but it's going to be hard to do. There's limited teams that Arod would probably go to too. It will be an extremely interesting offseason that's for sure.
A divorce of Arod is inevitable at this point....just a matter of time, but I wager before Spring Training he is shipped off. Grandy and Swish writing on the wall too. Basically you cant bench these guys in so many playoff games and expect things to be all rosy come ST next year. Something has to give to change the mix and makeup and benching is a clear signal to what will most likely occur before ST.
By benching them though, they're not putting their best line up on the field. They're almost telling Arod they don't think he's any good and don't want him back, ditto for Granderson and Swisher. they're running these guys out of town in the middle of the playoffs. Can't be a happy clubhouse right now.
Slumps are brutal (makes all arms look like aces).....agreed the clubhouse vibe has to be a bad one, especially with no Jeter present. And about best lineup...these slumps are forcing a best-guess most productive lineup to be played....we know the 0-fers when they have played are not the BEST LINEUP either. The question for the remainder of the post-season is what is the writing on the wall for the off-season. Grandy and Swish because of no contract could be easier to decide....but as we all know AROD is under contract so shipping him will definately take that 2nd party (but I am of the mindset that if you are going to ship and pay say 90%+ and potentially not get something back of real value; then I am agreeable to a cut outright and just part ways for 100%). Who knows what happens between now and ST, but I have to believe he will be shipped off before then.
The problem I have with the Yankees switching things up so much is that they are ignoring the previous 162 games and instead focusing in on the last 2 weeks. Unless there's an injury or an extreme case (like Player A is 0 for whatever against Pitcher X) it's a little foolish. I mean there's no excuse for Ibanez to be hitting in the 9th vs. Coke 2 nights ago. Ibanez hasn't been good in his career against LHPers, especially this year and all of the sudden Girardi is letting him bat in the biggest spot of the Yankee season? I think Girardi has really done a poor job managing this team this October. I realize some things are beyond is control like Jeter getting hurt but really letting Boone Logan pitch to Miguel Cabrera with the bases loaded is another example, and just because the results were positive in his favor doesn't make it a good move. I'd be surprised if the Yankees don't pick up Granderson's 15 million dollar option this offseason, even if it's to turn around and trade him anyway. I can't see them just buying out the contract and letting him walk. But yes of course Swisher is as good as gone. Again, I think the Arod thing is going to be interesting this offseason. I really have no idea if he gets moved or not but I think it would probably be best if they do move him. I can't see them simply releasing him, so even if they have to pay a team 90% of the contract and not get anything back of value that's still a better option. My question is besides the Marlins (who I think would be a bad fit for Arod as would any NL team due to the no DH) what team can you see him going to? Or what team(s) do you see Arod agreeing to be traded to AND have a fit. I think his market is extremely limited and by him being benched it's only hurting his trade value.
I take back what I said about losing the 4th game...A-Rod is going to saved in this whole thing in that he wont have to hear the fans unmercifully boo his *** one last time, especially in light that NumberGate took place outside of NY..... so please Yanks win 2 more.... as for the below.....heheheheheheheh...Mr. Loria welcome to my office...
Paying only 90% is better then 100% but I dont think 100% is off the table of discussion, nor should it be. Fixing what ails the squad to not lay eggs come post season (while taking into account what it takes to qualify for post-season) is top priority and if thats cutting ties with Arod, Grandy, and Swish so be it. I dont know about the list of teams, but if 90cents to the dollar is covered by Yanks, maybe its more than we think. Who knows.
Got to love reporters and their sources. I believe Heyman reported yesterday that Arod told friends he doesn't want to leave NY. Again this offseason will be very interesting for the Yankees, probably the most interesting since the 2008/2009 offseason when they signed CC, Tex and Burnett.
I'd agree with that one, if the Yankees are willing to pay at least 90 cents then that really opens things up. Again the wild card here is Arod and whether he simply wants to get out of NY and doesn't matter where to or if he'll be picky or not. Obviously the Marlins and Dodgers make the most sense since Miami is where Arod lives and perhaps the fans of that town will take a liking to him. LA of course because its a big market and they have a need for a 3rd baseman and it seems like the new ownership group wants to make big bold moves and collect big names. We'll see.
A-Rod is a 13-15M dollar ball player....thats where it starts IMO, and thats where it should start...so for the Yanks to eat 50-60% of each years contract to get it done isnt unreasonable... Eating 90% of it is ridiculous....on 30M a year, thats 27M....A-Rod is not a 3M dollar ball player, for that kinda money Florida better be ready to split with JJ or Reyes....
Arod has 5 years and 114 million left on his contract (average 22.8M per year) with a chance to earn an additional 36M based on performance. My question is how did you come up with the 13-15M tag? The Yankees basically called him a platoon player right now who can't hit RHPers so your 3M tag might be spot on. Anyway he's 37 years old next year, his numbers have declined for 5 straight years, he's been hurt for 5 straight years, he hasn't hit 20 plus HRs in 2 straight years, hasn't hit for .300 in 5 straight years, hasn't had a SLG % of over .500 in 2 straight years. He has a bad hip, he's getting older, his bat is much slower and will probably have to DH full time sooner than later so why on earth would any team agree to pay for even half of that awful contract? The Yankees have zero leverage here, as its clear they wanted him gone. And the main reason why they want him is because he's no longer Arod. If he still was, even with his struggles in the post season, they would still want him because he'd be putting up big numbers in the regular season. Which he isn't doing anymore. MAYBE there might be a team dumb enough to take on his whole contract or pay for 50% or more of it (we've seen dumb trades with big money players moved before recently) but I think realistically if the Yankees want to move him they need to eat a very large chunk of his contract. I think you're going to be extremely disappointed with not only the return of players the Yankees would get back but also how much the team will have to pay the other team to take him.
No Ace arm has ever been an Ace every game, the defense let him down as well...but still feel he has done yeoman's work for us this year and battled till the end. For the 2012 MLB season it was an enjoyable run, but a run that fell short: "And now, the end is here And so I face the final curtain My friend, I'll say it clear I'll state my case, of which I'm certain" Time now to step back and see what takes place when Cashman and the Boss Jr's get together to discuss offseason plans and strategy. Yanks will tinker as they always do, and try to figure out next attack plans for #28. I am sure it will be a balance mixture of existing age (measured against health) and perhaps some sprinkling of youth (which I dont think is as big a deal as some), obviously Pineda added to arms, and perhaps most likely of all, different bats that can accomplish not only the regular season marathon goal, but also the postseason sprint goal.
Nope I won't be disappointed, because he will be gone.....so even if they pay all but 5 million dollars lets say....that's still 25 million saved and a loss of a headache.....at this point I really do not care what they get or pay, as long as he leaves...
Hey you said it finally.....haha... I am not blaming CC, you all know my feelings on him....I realize that without him they prob don't win the Division and maybe don't make the playoffs. He was balls the last month of the season....
I didn't realize until the other day the dude has 2 different color eyes. Don't see that every day, what do you say your eye color is in a case like that?
So we have the "Core Four" of Jeter, Rivera, Pettitte and Posada does that make Arod, Cano, Granderson and Swisher the "Poor Four"?
So quick show of hands are there any non-Yankee fans envious of such a classy organization right now? Anyone? Anyone want to talk about how the team quit in today's game? I mean only 2 hits in an elimination game? No fight what so ever? 12 Ks, 2 errors (should have been 3). I never would have expected that from the Yankees.
This is fun, trolling Yankee fans and all. But seriously I'd like to thank the Yankees for making me smile the past 4 games or so during a season when my team was total and utter crap.
This was a very poor attempt, you are better than this. And wow Fink didn't realize you delve into the "hater troll" catagory. Surprised by this I must say. I guess I am "guilty by association".....
I actually can't take credit for the "Poor Four" I heard it on WFAN. And come on you know I'm just messing with you and BigDog. Those last posts were completely over the top on purpose. I'm surprised you're taking it seriously.
I think if the one thing you could all take from all my "crazy" post all year was that this was not shocking, at least not to me... cant wait to see what hey do with Swisher and Granderson, 2 people that I was saying all year they can't sign back and was laughed at here and other places as well.... Swisher looks to be gone, and hopefully with any luck so will Kurtis.
Being completely serious I'm not shocked that didn't win the WS but shocked at how well their pitching was and how poorly their bats were. I figured they would lose a lot of 7-6, 8-7 games. EDIT: I see what you did there with "K"urtis.
I know I know, but I will say the Dog might have to step up here and face some heat......he was running the ole trap a little. Soooooooooooooo Fink 930am tee time?
