http://www.redbullstratos.com/live This could be interesting... apparently the weather is clear, the wind is calm and they are preparing for launch... this is supposed to take some three hours from beginning to end.
sucks. my audio just started working too... wind looked fine at the ground level. probably bull **** to get more people watching.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/...ion-of-skydiver-Felix-Baumgartners-stunt.html very cool video animation of what could be... Felix Baumgartner’s record breaking jump from the stratosphere was scheduled for today, but he was forced to cancel citing gusty winds. This animation illustrates how a helium balloon will lift him to 120,000 feet (37km) for the jump. The 700ft feet high balloon takes 45 to 60 minutes to inflate and can only be launched if winds on the ground are less than 2mph. It will lift the stuntman to the outer limits of the stratosphere. On his way down Baumgartner will become the first human to break the sound barrier without the aid of an aircraft, reaching speeds of over 600mph.
Kittinger jumped from 103,000 ft in 1960 at Mach 1 I think. I'm assuming the additional altitude is what will allow Baumgartner to break more than Mach 1? EDIT: Thought this was cool.
And if you ever wanted to know what it's like....
space junk... he littered... $10 million Mars bucks fine. He was really high up there... lol... curvature of the Earth... I was kinda hoping he'd be too high and when he jumped out, he just floated off into space.
he was out of control there for seemingly a long time.
I wonder if they had a tracking device in there....that would have been cool to see like say where it is now?
