That was a pretty stupid joke but it is from a Yankees fan.

Have fun losing this series then blaming it on the Jeter injury.

I can guarantee you 100% that if the Yankees lose, no one will be blaming the Jeter injury. First Arod will get the blame, then Granderson, then Swisher, then Cano. Jeters injury is way on the bottom of that last, should the yankees lose.

Don't be so down. Half your team should retire next season so you will have a chance to add younger players.

Blame Ibanez, seriously this is all his fault.

Only half kidding but if Ibanez never hits that HR, Jeter never gets hurt and not only that the whole bullpen, minus Joba, doesn't have to pitch with would have been pretty big deal considering Kuroda is starting on short rest for the 1st time in his career.

The Yankees certainly can still win this series but losing Jeter does hurt as he's been one of the few that's consistently hit during the playoffs. But even before Jeter's injury guys on this team have to step it up. The offense has been beyond pathetic. And Girardi did a poor job with his bullpen management once again last night.

And seriously what the hell was with that Nick Swisher play in the 11th? He's suppose to be a MLB OFer?

This thing ain't over yet but it just got much much harder.

I'm also shocked at the number of empty seats at YS for this post season, someone was Tweeting that they could have purchased 10 tickets together in a row for last night's game and that there were close to 10k seats still available for Friday's game. That's crazy. Wonder why people aren't going.

I am gutted over what transpired....anything is still possible. But just gutted over the loss, and now Jeter. Aggghhhhh....and now Kuroda on very short rest. Losing game 4 to O's really cost us from a rotation standpoint and days off, etc.

Then last night all the things that transpired to put us down 4-0 prior to the 9th, and then to return to crapasticness in bottom of the 10th and 11th when the game should have been over so that Jeter doesnt have to take the field in the 12th with Phelps on the mound and only Joba in the pen....Aggghhhh....just gutted.

And this stranded the bases loaded 3 times crap pisses me off simply because we didnt strand them in the 2nd the UMP sucked and blew the call!

Just bad in the 12th, add in his mistake earlier in the game that allowed the 2nd run by not giving 100% effort and diving for catch-able ball that would have doubled up Cabrera, he is simply writing his ticket to FA market.

It's not over, but not sure enough light-switches exist to click to the on position and change the hitting approach, confidence, and ineptness with what has transpired.

Arod, Granderson, Swisher, and Cano....something has to give for them to be this horrific and clueless of their responsibility at the plate to make productive outs before they even make productive hits.

Inexcusable for Cano to swing at the 2-1 pitch when Ichiro had 2nd base stolen in the bottom of 11th with no outs. Just inexcusable to not be aware of your responsibility.

It was in the 12th? I thought it was the 11th, my bad. Yeah Swisher is, and always was, a bad OFer.

It's definitely not over but it's a huge uphill climb now. Losing one of the few guys that has actually hit all post season hurts big time. The only positive for the Yankees is that the Tigers pen is pretty bad right now, I don't think Benoit or Valverde can get anyone out right now, that could be their downfall.

I also thought it was interesting that Girardi made the strange decision to pinch run for Granderson with Gardner, as the difference in speed between the two can't be that much. It's not like Granderson has Teixeira speed. I thought that was an odd choice really. Love to know what his thought process was for that.

Also those who think Tigers have the momentum, that means nothing this october. Oakland had momentum when they came back to win game 4. Nationals had it in game 4 as well with a walk off, look what happen! Yankees get it game 3, and lost game 4

It's sad that our pitching has been beyond amazing this postseason but we can't do anything to help them out.

You can not ask for more quality starts for a playoff run, and our bats are just brutal in making "productive" outs. Just clueless over their responsibilities, etc.

And the umps, and the horrible calls that have burned the Yanks..just a shame this game can not be called correctly, and Baseball FO folks cant see the harm being done to the game and its integrity. Sucks as a fan.

how hard is it to have an ump in the booth that can buzz the other umps on calls like that. I mean come on. that's terrible. And you can't say, well yankees didn't score a run so it did not effect the yankees, 1 run game is a different mindset then a 3 run game.

Gotta love Swisher smiling every game.....got to love it.....that guy should have his head buried in the sand, he is batting .100....Same thing with A-rod got to love who loose he looks in the dugout yapping it up...

If I was those 2 I would contemplate suicide that this point...

funny thing is that this playoff performance was about as easy to predict as humanly possible....at least for me anyway...just sad to actually see it come true...

At this point isn't easier to simply talk about the position players that are hitting. I mean it's easy to get on Arod and Swisher but what about Cano? He set a post season record of going what 26 straight ABs without a hit, or Curtis Granderson. At least Arod has somewhat of an excuse (he's older, beat up etc), what's Cano's? He's one of the best hitters in all of baseball. Sure some of it is a bit of bad luck but he's getting himself out at the plate by swinging at poor pitches and trying to do much to much. I think Cano is, and absolutely should be outted as the biggest goat so far for the Yankees.

And rest easy FY, Swisher won't be a Yankee next year. He's already whining about the fans getting on him. That's always a losing battle. I think they might just end up resigning Ichiro to a 1 year deal. But talking about the 2013 Yankees should be saved for another day.

Oh I think GC, and Cano....are definitely to blame equally and if not more...however you look at those 2 and they arent happy it shows on their faces how disappointed they are with themselves and for letting the team down...Swish and A-Rod are acting like they are in the midst of a 10 game winning streak in the middle of July.....

and as far as handing over 20M for Cano at the end of next year......think again Boras no way in hell do I do that.....he isnt worth it...

I'm not one to get on player's because they look happy in the field/in the dugout but I saw shots of Cano smiling when talking to Miguel Cabrera at 2nd base etc and of course Cano is always knocked for his "Manny like lazy attitude" in the field and on the bases. And I don't think because they look happy it means they aren't try or there's a lack of effort. I just don't think either one is very good right now.

Oh I think the Yankees will absolutely lock up Cano for 100 million. And they should, I think he's worth it, especially for a young 2B. This playoff series isn't who or what Cano really is. He's a star player.

what he did is what you are supposed to do...dominate non-existing bats...he gets no kudos for dominating a team that shouldnt even have been there to begin with...

Would it be the wides move to give Cano a contract averaging 20 million a season? He's going to turn 30, so I'm not so sure about that. He's the best second baseman in the league but that is a scary offer.

Oh come on, Sabathia was great in Game 1 and Game 5 and he's the main reason why you won the WS in 2008. If you don't think CC is an ace, imagine what MLB teams look like without one. It's not pretty.

And wasn't Baltimore like 2nd in the league in offense this year? Yeah they didn't hit in the 5 games they played in the ALDS but it wasn't like CC was facing the Astros or Mariners.

Cano has been in the league for 8 years now? Wow, I didn't think it was that long. Still though, Cano is a very good player. I'd much rather judge him on the 1214 games and 5110 plate appearances in the regular season over the same sample of 49 games and 209 plate appearances in the post season.

First of all, again wow I didn't think Cano was going to be 30 by the end of the month. For whatever reason I didn't think he was that old. Generally speaking yeah I don't think it would be wise but someone like Cano, I don't think it's a big deal if the Yankees extend a player like him to age 35. He's been very healthy during his career, has a nice short swing, has a good body type ad even if he loses a little range in the coming years he'd still be at worst an average defensive 2B. I wouldn't give him a contract past his 35th birthday though but I think someone like him, with his swing at YS even if he has to be a DH or 1B in the last one or two of the contract he'd still be able to put up big numbers there.
