I would have the same opinion if Yanks quit....just dont expect it from Organizations that hold themselves out to be the CLASS of the league.

again, I realize now Sox were pretending.....and if Yanks ever did this, I would be pissed at them quitting.....but admit, I would be ok with clean slate cause thats my only choice as a fan.

Hey, I think its funny you refuse to simply have the same mindset that quitting is not for CLASS/PREMIER run organizations....but perhaps you realized before I did they were pretenders. I would prefer offseason sell offs or little by little each year to never get yourself in that position in the first place, but whatever makes you happy.

Its great I guess that Sox have a cleanslate....good luck with that - I am serious. I hope lessons have been learned to never again see this have to happen.

Aww class of the league.... right.

Again though, I truly believe you're down on the Sox because they are the Red Sox. If this was the St. Louis Cardinals or Cleveland Indians (I simply picked two teams at random) you wouldn't care or would applaud the move.

Am I mad the Sox finished in last place? Of course. It was a crap season with little to celebrate except for the play of Will Middlebrooks, the step forward of Doubront and Tazawa really. Everything else was bad. HOWEVER, I'm smart enough to realize perhaps at times its ok to take a step back in the short term to put yourself in a better position in the future. So if that meant the Sox quit on 35 games in 2012, so be it. It was a necessary outcome for the greater good. So again I'm pissed that had a bad year but I'm not mad at all they made that trade.

And again you keep saying quitting but seriously how much better would the Sox have been with Gonzalez in the line up for those 35 games instead of Loney/Gomez and Beckett pitching 6 more games? 2 to 3 wins better maybe? They would still end up in last place. If the Sox didn't make that trade would you still knock them for "quitting"?

It's easier to say you'd rather slowly trade off pieces here or there, we don't know if that option would have been available to them in the offseason, it's possible the Dodgers wouldn't have made the move and the Sox would have been stuck with those contracts still. You or I, or even the Sox or Dodgers don't even know if those offers would still be there.

You need to get over the fact that the Sox "quit" on the season and that it was the Red Sox who made the move and focus on why the move was made and if the future of the team is better off with or without those contracts. If you think the Sox are better off with the financial flexibility then "quitting" on the season, again only 35 games left, should make zero difference. If you think the Sox should have kept those 4 guys, then that's another debate all together but you're simply knocking the move to knock it.

I seriously challenge/ask any non Sox or Yankee fan to kindly offer your opinion on this topic. I'd love to hear what nonbiased people think.

I guess, in your eyes, any bad or non playoff team in baseball that makes trades are quitting on the season, right?

We will always disagree on this I am sure. I am unbiased, any team that quits is a sad organization. Its not about finishing last - thats the results of simply playing the game.

I would have never expected that from Sox. Nothing more to discuss.

I think they should have done that deal when it was offered to them before the Red Sox got it offered to them...

Ok then, I will ask you these three questions:

1.) How exactly did they "quit" on the season?
2.) Do you feel any non playoff team that makes trades during the year "quitting" on the season?
3.) Do you feel any team that's 14 games out of 1st place and 10 games out of the wild card with 35 games to play makes a trade is that "quitting" on the season?

Haha. Right, thanks my point has been proven as I think we both know where I was getting at by asking you to answer those questions. And I don't even know what "I would have never expected that from Sox" even means. I guess they're not allowed to have a bad season or trade players? I'll have to remember that one.

Sit Arod and Grandy and Cano if you wish....you cant sit them all....bench (that you trust) is still relevant. Its game 5....not much more can be done but sit back and watch.

I dont know how anyone could separate Arod or Grandy and claim one or the other is a smarter play. It is what it is...and its bad. real bad.

I was only asking you 3 simple questions, only one had to do with our "debate" the other two were more or less hypothetical questions, which I was honestly interested in reading your responses. If you wish not to answer them that's fine and obviously your choice. I just didn't figure you to avoid them as I didn't think they were that big of a deal. Remember though you were the one that choose to restart the debate not me.

I didnt restart the debate, I restated my consistent position, and even agreed with you...aside from quitting on the season, its great you got rid of contracts...woohoo...happy for you.

And you don't honestly see how you're contradicting yourself here? You can't have it both ways, which I've been trying to tell you all along. Either you like the trade and thus don't care that the team "quit" on the season, or you're mad that they "quit" and never should have made the trade in the first place.

Makes sense, it's a legit reason. Then again it looks like Granderson hasn't ever picked up a baseball bat and faced live pitching in his life....

Man that could have gone either way but after ruled a foul ball, you can't over turn it. It looked like it may have nicked the pole but idk. If Baltimore loses heir fans will believe that was fair until they die. Please don't blow this Yankees. Start fresh against Detroit

That was an epic pitching performance by sabbathia in the 8th. Lost his control a bit, got into a jam but never panicked and then he got his control back inning over. Kudos to girardi for leaving him in

Never touched it....no issue with call really.

Glad it a fresh start too. If Grandy truly broke out of the slump that will be huge.....and who knows about Arod but I dont care right now.

Heck, we finally put Tex in motion when not being held, and it was smart....a spark plug really to that inning, not asking for 3 hits in a row....1 hit, steal, then another hit to break the ice. Then Ichiro comes through, and finally Grandyman shows up at last off a lefty.

So about CC not being that ace huh?

Also crazy stat I just heard this is the first time the Yankees won an ALDS series since 2001 that they didn't beat the Twins to advance.

I was actually thinking that during the game... I kept wishing the twins would be there somewhere. The first round scares me most. I hate best of five series, first time ever I believe that all games have gone to game 5. Yanks need to hit or they will be out quick

Yup, of the 20 LDS Games played 10 were elimination games. That's crazy to think about...1/2 were win or go home. And if you add the two WC games for play in, it was 12 out of 22 games to get to the LCS. Fun times.

I honestly this will be a wake up call and someone will step up! Win this for the capt! At least I hope. Maybe Jeter steps up and tells this team they are not out! They can win this thing! Maybe someone on the Yankees looks at what Jeter has done this postseason. He has grinded it out all postseason, fighting injury and playing his god damn heart out. He left it all on the field today and the Yankees need to follow his lead.

Also this is the first time Ive been more confident that we will win then Adam. I think this team grinds it out and goes to the world series. I dont know why but i really think we do. Call it a gut feeling! GO Yanks! You have been in this position before! Hell we lost game 1 of the world Series in 09. Yanks find ways to win! Lets hope we go on a 6 game winning streak!
