In all seriousness, if you have a chance to see him field groundballs before the game it's a sight to see. The guy just has great hands. Plus at the end of infield practice he will screw around and catch ground balls between his legs etc. It's fun to watch. Too bad he can't hit.
I do watch him....he puts his hands in his pockets, does crazy things.... that ball he caught up to yesterday that Jeter hit up the middle was flawless......
*** Official 2012 New York Yankees Thread*** I think joe realized who was pitching tonight for the Red Sox. I had no problem with it. It was a must win game, especially after tying it up in the ninth, what a blow to the yanks if they wound up losing. We won the division last night, not tonight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
*** Official 2012 New York Yankees Thread*** One important thing with the Yankees is, while they got close to losing it, they never lost 1st place. They were always alone in first or tied. You build up 10 games leads so you can go through slumps like they did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agreed this has been one of the tougher years for them with the adversity they had injury wise and to win 95 games in that Division in that League is pretty impressive..... This is funny when asked about the ovation the crowd gave when they flashed the AL East Champions on the scoreboard with A-Rod batting
So Yankee fan who do you want to play?? Interested in BDH's pick even though I have a feeling he is going to answer it like a baseball player would.... Me? I would like to see them play Baltimore, not because of the ability of them versus Texas......actually I believe that they and Texas are very close talent wise....To me my reason is logical.....proximity to New York. Lets face it we all want advantageous circumstances to win and Baltimore gives that....away games are 2 hours away....under an hour flight from NY to Balt......and it isn't a mystery that Yankee fans would show there in droves as well.... I like the storyline as well.....
If Baltimore I have a chance at some tickets...as a former player...dont care - bring it! realistically, Darvish vs. Saunders....should be easy drubbing by Rangers over Os.
Totally forgot about that you are right there!!! nice...... What position you play in where ever you played? You are like a mystery man...
I hope so. Also if it happens I hope the Orioles don't blame the A's for trying hard to come in 1st in the AL West and thus causing Baltimore to have to play Texas instead.
Paid for my education and then some.... Now I work for honest living. I meant it should be a cakewalk for Texas...Saunder's blows and his #'s vs Tex blow worse. I wager Buck is thinking about his options, but he may not have any but stuck with tossing him.
Nope never said that. I said I want Baltimore to win the East over the Yankees. I'm rooting for Oakland in the AL.
the 2012 regular season is upon the Yankees and Yankee Nation after the usual 162 game preseason. i cant wait Major league titles World Series titles (27) 1923 • 1927 • 1928 • 1932 1936 • 1937 • 1938 • 1939 1941 • 1943 • 1947 • 1949 1950 • 1951 • 1952 • 1953 1956 • 1958 • 1961 • 1962 1977 • 1978 • 1996 • 1998 1999 • 2000 • 2009 AL Pennants (40)[1] 1921 • 1922 • 1923 • 1926 1927 • 1928 • 1932 • 1936 1937 • 1938 • 1939 • 1941 1942 • 1943 • 1947 • 1949 1950 • 1951 • 1952 • 1953 1955 • 1956 • 1957 • 1958 1960 • 1961 • 1962 • 1963 1964 • 1976 • 1977 • 1978 1981 • 1996 • 1998 • 1999 2000 • 2001 • 2003 • 2009 East Division titles (18)[2] 1976 • 1977 • 1978 • 1980 1981 • 1996 • 1998 • 1999 2000 • 2001 • 2002 • 2003 2004 • 2005 • 2006 • 2009 2011 • 2012 Wild card berths (4) 1995 • 1997 • 2007 • 2010
He can hit enough to get playing time with his defense. Specially if you guys decide to go young you have nothing to lose.
Yup. If he could bat in the .240s and get on base at a 31% clip he probably could play everyday since the offensive demands for that position have dropped way down recently, ditto with catching. But he might not even be able to do that. I think he starts the year at SS if the Sox can't upgrade that position and/or they do a better job filling holes at 1st and OF. One name to watch is Elvis Andrus in Texas. The Rangers have Profor now so they might be willing to move Andrus to clear room. Perhaps a Ellsbury/Andrus package this offseason?
That makes sense for both teams however i dont know if they are going to want to shell out to extend Ellsbury why not just sign Hamilton. Forget where i read it but i saw they were thinking of moving Kinsler to the OF and Andrus to 2b. That could just be your typical bs coming out of their FO as a smoke screen though. They have a lot of options really.
in honor of the Yankees/ Orioles series about to take place
8 2/3 inn. 120pitch, gem by CC. So relieved to take the advantage right out from under them with this 2 road start quirk this year. We set up Andy for tomorrow. Just a huge 9th inning with the bats and against their closer too. Really, all game, the deep lineup was working the counts and everyone contributed and built confidence moving forward, well, almost everyone, we just need Arod to get confidence back and hope his timing clicks otherwise its another wasted postseason from him - but he has time if he finds his trigger, timing...but all other hitters are battling and not pressing and working the count. Just a great win, and really, great battle to set the stage and get the playoff juices flowing again for the march to #28! Big win in Baltimore tonight....great job. Andy should be fun to watch tomorrow. P.S. Tex's glove is ridiculous how many runs he saves, just ridiculous.
Well, we split, which i suppose was the goal...But, this was the reason i would have rather seen Kuroda tonight and Andy for game 3...Oh well, i just dont see the Yanks losing 2 of 3 at home!
eh if we swept the orioles we would have had only one game of stadium revenue at home. not only will we win but we'll make more money this way.
Was a great game atmosphere wise....bummer about wasting a quality start, and bummer how bad the gloves matched the bats, so many chances wasted. But what an atmosphere, electric and fun.
did you go? As for A-Rod I dont think it is timing, the guy just presses to hard...the strikeout he had against O'Day that pitch was an 87 MPH fastball over the middle of the pitch that he just swung right though...
Arod looks terrible, I don't even think it's him pressing, he's just slow trying to get around on a fastball right now, perhaps with all his injuries he had to deal this year his timing is off and it's just limiting him physically. But hey he still has 5 more years left on his deal, which means plenty of time to heal up and produce again right?
I have said on here numerous times that NY in the playoffs will get the pitching it needs and I wasnt worried about it....but rather the hitting is what scares the crap out of me.... Like last night, that game should have been won...
Yes, a blast. My niece during BP was given a bat by Jeter...crazy. And close friend of the family's youngest son was given battling gloves by Gardner too. The atmosphere was electric and so much fun to absorb and enjoy...even with the loss. Arod is over matched and lacks any confidence right now...he is slow to every pitch and trust me, been there, he is just guessing and trying to cheat on the fastball. A recipe for disaster - if he didnt still have such a good batting eye he wouldnt even have an on base % to speak of. Has to be moved out of #3 hole. Yup....could be injury related. could be age...could be mental.....could be Arod and pressing for playoffs...but his last few weeks of regular season he started this funk, and the window can close quickly too. So many chances...shame to waste that start by Andy (and he only had one bad stretch with 2outs in the 3rd - the four pitch walk to Mclouth was inexcusable)...but glad we took 1 of 2....focus on protecting the Stadium now.
When Arod and Teixeira aren't 100% healthy it's a much different line up. I do think Girardi needs to move Arod out of the 3 hole and put Cano there. Screw the two LHHs in a row in the line up thing, you need your best hitter in that spot. The big positive in the past 2 games have definitely been Sabathia. Him being able to show people he's not hurt and can be that horse is a huge plus for the Yankees. Should be interesting to see how Kuroda does tomorrow night. And is Hughes starting Game 4? Or are they going back to CC? I think the Yankees have the advantage in the series now and probably did from the beginning.
He hasn't said yet who is starting Game 4, I think if they lose tomorrow CC will be on the hill for Game 4. With Andy going in Game 5.....I will take that...
