forgot to mention one of my favorite internet stations http://www.cosmicdoom.com/ click on k666 radio and enjoy some of the world's finest stoner metal!
I definitely haven't been thrilled to see the direction their music has headed since the Reroute to Remain album, they are getting further and further away from the style in which I fell in love with long ago. However, I have to realize that as a band/artists they are evolving and creating something new rather than rehashing their older material. With that said, they will always be my favorite band given the influence and impact that their music has had on my life and I will always be a fan. However, at the same time, I will always pine for the greatness that was the The Jester Race - Whoracle - Colony - Clayman album era.
just heard these guys for the first time on hard attack today...holy sh1t! the next cd purchase for me for sure!
Was hoping to find "INNATE AFFLICTION" as that song absolutely rules...but I think most will get the idea of what Grip Inc is about... BTW: Den, I still have songs waiting to be ripped for you bro...dont hold it against me brutha, just overworked and underpaid ...this is pretty much what 1 of your CD's is gonna sound like
Motorhead and heavy metal fans in general check out this band: High On Fire - Official Website High On Fire - MySpace music page not really my genre but I catch myself humming their riffs from time to time, good band.
Went to a little bar called the Blue Goat last night and checked out DevilDriver in concert ... also had Straight Line Stitch, Invitro, 36 Crazyfists, and Napalm Death. Great show, especially for a Sunday night, but it was well worth it for 5 straight hours of Metal.
New Children of Bodom album "Blooddrunk" out today in North America. I'm getting ready to DL from iTunes.
Move over, Ozzfest: Motley Crue announces Crue Fest LOS ANGELES (AP) - Motley Crue is hitting the road again - and they're bringing some friends along for the ride. The heavy metal band announced the launch of the first-ever Crue Fest on Tuesday. The summer rock festival will feature the four original members of Motley Crue - singer Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx, guitarist Mick Mars and drummer Tommy Lee - as well as Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx:A.M. and Trapt. "We've been wanting to do this forever," Lee told The Associated Press about the festival. "And we're finally doing it." Produced by Live Nation, Crue Fest will kick off July 1 in West Palm Beach, Fla. The tour will stop in 41 U.S. and Canadian cities. Known for their bad behavoir and famous girlfriends just as much as they are for hits like "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Dr. Feelgood," Motley Crue reunited in 2004 and previously toured with Aerosmith in 2006. The band also announced it will release "Saints of Los Angeles," their ninth studio album, on June 17. Lee told the AP the new album - the first featuring all four original band members in more than a decade - is a mix of "old school and new school" Crue. http://apnews1.iwon.com//article/20080416/D902KT200.html

Got my tix yesterday!!!! Jones Beach, orchestra section H!!!! WOO HOO!! Seeing Maiden AND Priest AND Sabbath w/DIO in one summer? Good Gods it's 1987 all over again!
They aren't exactly Metal in the sense of Priest and Maiden, but I'm heading off to St. Louis to see Van Halen this weekend. The show has been postponed twice already. Hopefully Ed gets his **** together this time.
Got me some tickets for Megadeth next month and In Flames is with them.....don't know too much of their stuff...In Flames can you help a brother, out?
I'm going to the same show to see In Flames in a few weeks. In Flames is the resident In Flames expert of course but I really like their newer stuff. he likes the older stuff. LOL! Find a happy medium in there somewhere. Since they are supporting their new record, "A Sense of Purpose" on this tour I'd recommend picking it up, I REALLY like it.
It all depends on your musical taste really. Their earlier material such as Lunar Strain / The Jester Race / Whoracle(my favorite IF album) / Colony / & Clayman basically created the entire melodic death metal (or melo-death) genre and helped mold it into what it is today (along with the band At The Gates). However, they started to change up their style abit when making the Reroute to Remain album, it seemd to have a more mainstream metal vibe. After that, they then released the Soundtrack to Your Escape / Come Clarity / & A Sense of Purpose albums keeping along the same (more commercial metal) style. UT is correct, I do prefer the older material because that is what influenced me the most throughout my youth and helped me develope my current musical taste. However, as I've said before, bands do have the tendecy to evolve over the years and I rather them follow their hearts then keep rehashing the good ol' days. I like their newer material and will forever be a dedicated fan, but IMO nothing will ever compare to their earlier work. Hope that helps Prep. Regardless, they put on a near flawless live show and you will more than likely enjoy every minute of it. I believe Children of Bodom will be there also, another good band. Vids: (early) In Flames: Ordinary Story Jotun Pinball Map Artifacts of the Black Rain (newer) In Flames: Trigger My Sweet Shadow Take This Life The Mirror's Truth
I'm going the 15th. Can't WAIT! Just...um....happened upon a pro-shot, multi-cam DVD of Maiden from THIS tour. I wanna see if I can copy it. If I can, and any Maiden fans want it...hit me up. Bro, we've probably met then! Hey guys...just to let you know, trying to secure a pretty cool gig for this October. Opening for John Oliva's Pain and Circle II Circle. That would rock.
For all the fans of the godfather of all theatrical rock..... He's baaaaaaaaack! Can't wait for this album!
*Bump* I just recently found out about this band 'Norma Jean' and cant stop listening to them. Their new album (the Anti-Mother) drops on the 5th. Chino Moreno from the Deftones produced a few tracks, but this band is Hardcore though and through. Heres a link to their site http://www.normajeannoise.com/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVyyrJFjr2s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UCu4ut1__4 Looks like Rick Rubin is having a positive influence. James is actually trying.
Hey Pagan-been meaning to ask you-have you checked this out yet? I LOVE it. Very heavy. I know you're not his biggest fan-but give it a spin. Or 50.
Anybody been to the Metal Masters Tour? This is four bands: Testament, Motorhead, Heaven and Hell (Dio's Black Sabbath) and Judas Priest. My brother scored free tickets to see it Aug 30th here in LA. Just wondering what the on stage times were going to be. I'm more inclined to only show for H&H and JP.
If you miss Motorhead you're doing yourself an injustice. Great live band. Testament is no slouch either. Caught the show at Jones Beach last week. You won't be disappointed.
I missed the MM tour closest to me, BUT Motorhead is coming to Baltimore at the Ram's Head Live on 9/18 with The Misfits. Got my tickets already.
