Happy to see Mike James have such a huge game. He's been an absolute warrior for this team since he's been here. Just a huge win for the team, to go from being up big, to down big, fighting through it, and coming up with that epic 4th and inches stand, and then of course Mike James finishing the job. Stephen Morris had some high throws, but he's much better than I thought he would be. And Davon Johnson. Kid has made plays every time he's touched the rock. Who would of guessed. Give the man more touches, especially since Lewis is likely done for the year. Eddie Johnson has been a huge surprise as well.

As for our 3 toughest games... Florids State is Florida State. Highly overrated as usual until proven otherwise. That game can go either way, as FSU-UM games always do. Virginia Tech is beatable. Notre Dame, I'm not really sure about it. Tonight's game will give us a better idea, but I'm not buying the hype yet. I don't think beating Michigan State is any remarkable feat and Purdue proved this team is beatable.

ND has played like 21st century ND tonight. Thought they looked great last week, though.

Hats off to you, once we got down I couldn't have watched it on replay...so painful at that point. I was literally depressed.

Watching Al Golden kneeling down and holding that injured player on the field, made me think that those guys would probably run through a brick wall for him. I just can't imagine Shannon doing that.

Yeah I can just imagine Shannon out on the field standing above him shaking his head in that Randy Shannon way.

I really think Golden is the real deal, I just hope we get the players he needs soon and the NCAA doesn't crap on us.

Lost in James amazing performance, The Duke had a really solid effort again.

13 carries, 72 yards, 4 receptions and 38 yards. He also had 90 kick return yards on four attempts. Not an impressive day on returns but he still broke a 46 yarder. A lot of returns he didn't have too much of a chance and just needed an extra block or two.

So he had 200 all purpose yards.

I wonder what exactly it would take for us to finish in the top 25 this season. I'd assume winning one of our biggest three games plus running the table against the "weaker" teams would do it. Obviously I'm not counting on it. Just some fun speculation.

That's a good question. That loss to K State doesn't really mean anything. They're a damn good football team that is ranked in the top 10 after beating Oklahoma last night. We're likely going to have to beat 2 of VT, ND, and FSU, unless we can manage to not lose any games we shouldn't and we'd likely only have to beat one.

Plus people have short memories. If we win a big game or dare I say two, no-one will even remember that game honestly.

I think we have a shot to beat ND if our offense comes to play. Their offense isn't going to dominate us in my opinion. Their defense scares the crap out of me. Plus V-Tech...we have a shot at them. FSU is the only team I can see beating the crap out of us as much as that hurts to say. The rest of our games we have at least a legitimate shot depending on how you feel about ND.

'Season is done' for Miami Hurricanes' Malcolm Lewis

Golden had a clear view when the injury happened and instantly rushed onto the field, cradling Lewis’ neck and talking to him as medics and training staff worked on him.

“I saw from where I was, around midfield, it just didn’t look right,” Golden said. “It didn’t look good so I ran out there. I knew he was scared. We’ve all had injuries at one point, and you start thinking ‘is my season over?’ That’s what you think when you can’t see the result of the injury. Certainly, in this case, he could see the result of the injury. That was tough.”
So, for several minutes, Golden stayed on the field, kneeling next to Lewis, trying to comfort him.

“We were just trying to be there for him and make sure he knows we’re there for him and that we’ll get through it,” Golden said. When he used the word “we” Golden meant not only himself, but the entire team and coaching staff, which gathered on the sideline in prayer as Lewis was being attended to.

Man this coming Saturday is so huge. A 4-1 start would be incredible in a year with so many freshman and sophomores playing. In a season where we are/were supposed to struggle pretty badly it's huge for recruiting to win games like these. People buy into your system and you can show the recruits tangible results.

Phillip Dorsett is the ACC WR of the week, and Eddie Johnson is the ACC Linebacker of the week. IMO They should have separate awards for QB and RB because **** if James didn't deserve some recognition.

NC State is the type of games we've typically lost in the past coming off a big win. Pass Rush is going to be the end all be all vs. NC State. If we don't get pressure on Glennon, he will tear our defense a new *******.

From the ESPN ACC power rankings.

We actually received 1 vote for the top 25 in one poll and 2 in the other. Nothing to brag about but people noticed our start at least.

Also wake me up when NC State beats a legitimate team. So far their wins are: Citadel, South Alabama, and Connecticut (who they beat 10-7) their only real game was against Tennessee who they lost to 35-21. I'm not saying they suck or we should blow them out, just that I'm not impressed at all with what they have done so far. We've at least beaten two ACC opponents.

We could of said the same thing about UVA last year. Like I said, Mike Glennon is a very good QB. When he has all day to sit in the pocket, there's no stopping him. And our pass rush has been non-existent this year.

True, but part of getting back to being a great program is beating teams that well...are beatable. NCState is beatable at the very least. I'd say most QB's are very good when they have all day to sit in the pocket, but I get where you are coming from on that one.

If we were on the road I'd be more worried, but if we lose this one at home I'll be kind of disappointed. Our defense needs to come to play at some point this season. Maybe that goal line stand will give them something to work off of confidence wise.

NC State is definitely very beatable. But after all the disappointments we've experienced after big wins, I think I'm going to go be cautiously optimistic for the sake of my own sanity.

I really don't blame you. I half expect to lose, but it's a new year with some new players so....I guess I'm throwing caution to the wind for this one.

Now ND week I'll be pretty down about our chances. I don't think their offense is that good honestly, but their defense is ridiculous and we aren't scoring 30+ on them, and our defense is pretty mediocre.

So can I state my dream scenario?

FSU wins out only losing to us. We win out and face FSU in the ACC Championship where we THRASH them  but that is a dream. I'll settle for being competitive this year and not losing to teams we should beat.

I'm stoked for tomorrow. In my opinion we will know a lot more about our team.

The scariest thing for everyone else is a confident young football team that doesnt truly believe they can lose. If we beat NC State, and beat them handedly, things could look good for our baby canes.
