ehhh, Yanks win in any scenario - and unless injury happens that would force him to be closer again - I would comfortably predict he isnt in pinstripes for the whole season even if its option 1 of the scenario.
Andy Pettitte will bump David Phelps from the rotation starting next Tuesday, and yesterday Ivan Nova bumped Freddy Garcia from the rotation, so the Yankees’ stretch-run pitching plans have changed dramatically in the past 24 hours.
thats sad, but Lets hope we can have a nice home stand! Also i still dont understand Vegas having Yankees 7/2 Rays 11/1 and Balt 14/1, as of today
Thank the Paw Sox, that's who you beat the past 2 nights. I think the Yankees are safe to make the playoffs now, with TB being 4 games back from 1st and the Angels being 3.5 games out with 2 weeks left.
Kind of amazed at the Angels, and the Tigers really wow.... also Fink I though Igelias was good in the field lol? Looks like him and Nunez switched roles for the night...
I'm shocked at how poor the Angels have played. Between their starting pitching (they might have the most talent 1-5 in baseball) and with a pretty decent line up, I just can't figure out how Oakland is out playing them. I wasn't very high on Detroit to begin the year, I just didn't think their pitching outside of Verlander was solid but thought they would win the AL Central by default. Everyone saying MLB needs a cap doesn't really have a solid arguement for it this year. And yes Iglesias is probably one of the best defensive SS in baseball right now. Errors happen. But make no mistake the guy is a wizard with the glove. It's just a shame he can't even hit like David Eckstein right now.
Man I am sore started PT on Wednesday, going today.....3 weeks left after this and it is d-day..... edit...hhahaha I meant to email that.... hey at least ya'll know where I stand on it
Typical Yankee fan, drunk already.... I was actually going to ask you how things went with the surgery, believe it or not. Glad to hear you at least made it out alive.
no no....havent had the surgery yet...Doctor said insurance "likes" to see PT first before surgery....aka....they wont sign off until I try PT first..... so 4 weeks of PT, then if nothing changes, I go back to the Doctor and schedule surgery....I might be high on pills by Thanksgiving hahah actually I hate pills, I had all four wisdom teeth taken out and they gave me pain pills and I puked after one of them...I dont react well...
Same here actually. Good luck with the TP, crazy some of the things insurance companies make you go through....
thanks bro..... when you sent me that message yesterday I was like...huh Nunez hit a walk off?? no no, should have realized when you capitallized the "e" in Nunez....
Yankees pretty much locked up their playoff spot this weekend. TB is now 5 out in the L column with 2 weeks to play with the Yankees playing Toronto, Oakland, Minnesota, Toronto and Boston again.
Yes they did well this weekend....tell ya now is the time to catch a little fire 2 weeks left going into the playoffs.... I am rooting for Boston tonight....dont want TB in the playoffs...
I just don't think Tampa Bay has the offense or consistent starting pitching to make another run like they did last year. I wouldn't worry about them this year.
Nice!! 3 inning bang session..... http://deadspin.com/5943639/nsfw-at...t-in-a-bathroom-stall-for-about-three-innings
This is exactly what the Yankees need to be doing. STEAL BASES!!!! They are leaving to many men on base, do something about it. If Granderson never stole 2nd or 3rd, they would still be tied. Take the risk and steal the bag. Worked out well for the Yankees at the moment!
And Andy is back (had a blast at the stadium watching him) and yes, Ichiro was red hot....great sweep!!!! Pettitte and Phelps both stepped up and gave the team a shot in the arm on what could have been a major negative double header for the pen.
It was the factor that we missed when Gardner went down...hopefully you are correct this will be emphasized come playoff run and making the opposing Defense and pitching staff concern themselves with.
There is a rumor, again RUMOR, going around that Robinson Cano has failed a PED test. Again I stress the word RUMOR. Most likely this is started because Cano and Melky will almost always be associated together. Peter Gammons stated on his WEEI interview today that he had heard the rumors but doesn't think that there is anything to them. It also should be noted that before Melky was suspended that there were rumors about him failing a PED test before the actual suspension was made public. So I guess we'll see.
Wouldn't shock me at all honestly....I adhere to the "all Dominicans are guilty until proven innocent" as it pertains to PEDs and actually it would benefit the Yanks too....he ain't getting no 20M a year if that's the case...
Francessa tried to get him on but they couldn't....but the FAN has checked into it and denied it....as JT alluded too...
A lot of the Yankee beat reporters are shooting down the rumor as well. One thing to remember though, if a player does test positive for a PED, the team IS NOT notified until just before the league announces the suspension. So it is possible that the sources these reporters are asking just don't know, or the rumor is bogus. Again I feel like it's most likely just a rumor, and an unfortunate one at that.
Agreed it would have sucked, Robbie is a cool dude and alot of people like him as he star has grown after the Hr Derby last year.....people in KC dont but again they are people in KC so by nature they dont matter...
A Major League Baseball official with knowledge of the league’s drug testing backed up Cano’s denial, confirming to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale that Cano did not test positive for a performance-enhancing substance.
Although the Yankees have been unable to shake the surging Orioles -- the two teams have been tied for first seven different times in September -- New York has never fallen out of first place. And now the Bronx Bombers appear poised for a surge heading into the postseason. First, consider the improved starting rotation. Ivan Nova returned to take Freddy Garcia's spot and had a nice outing on Saturday. Andy Pettitte just returned with a solid effort on Wednesday, too. The offense has been strong, as usual. In winning 10 of their last 14 games, the Yankees averaged 5.6 runs per game (the season average is 4.8 runs per game) with a .771 OPS. They lead the majors with 220 home runs (the White Sox are second with 195). But most of all, the schedule bodes well for a strong close to the regular season. After a three-game series against the A's this weekend, the Yankees have it pretty easy. They close with a seven-game road trip against the Twins (three games) and the Blue Jays (four) before heading home for a three-game series against the Red Sox. If they play like they've been playing -- riding a five-game winning streak -- finishing something like 96-66 is pretty realistic. A record like that means they'd cruise into the postseason. In the playoffs, this bunch would be a very tough out -- with a caveat: CC Sabathia needs to get things fixed. If he rectifies whatever is ailing him, be it a health or mechanical issue, the Yankees have a very strong top-three rotation (Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda, Pettitte), powerful offense and back end of the bullpen (Rafael Soriano, David Robertson). That's a recipe for success in a seven-game series.
It is all on CC BDH, man just need this dude to get right.....if he is hurt pull him....if he isnt, the man needs to unlodge his head from his ***....problem is there is no way to tell... I already think they should go into the playoffs with Kuroda as the #1....
Very encouraging to see CC do that....and another thing that is a good sign is alot of these runs lately are coming from actual hits rather than the long fly...
handful of games will set the stage....lets see, but Andy back could be HUGE boost, and a quick lockerroom meeting of the BATS could indeed start to change with STEALS and moving runners over setting the stage for playoff success.
Agreed pitching is contagious too, one guy wants to keep it going.... also ahemmmmm still have those tickets gentlemen.....
I'd be shocked if he's on the playoff roster, outside of pinch running. Can't see how he'll be able to get enough at bats to get his timing and swing down to face quality MLB pitching.
