oh cmon if someone told me to fire myself I'd probably call them an a-hole too, or worse. Big nothing here. I'd have figured he'd just shed a tear and run away to his booth. I wish he'd have said it straight up instead of under his breath

 

But no one wants to harm him. You guys are suggesting he needs security. The guy had words with him, that was it. My point was that he doesn't need security and should be able to mingle with fans once in a while. Unfortunately for him, when your team hasn't been relevant for a number of years, you take some bad with the good. Just a total lack of self-awareness on Ireland's part.

No, I said the only reason to have security would be for someone to want to harm him. Since that's not the case, he doesn't need it.

 

Yeah, keeping it reel like that would get you fired from any other $billion dollar franchise or business.

 

He didn't need security in this instance. But I don't see how you can reasonably expect there not to be a violent interaction if fans are given enough access. Whether the team is good or bad should have no bearing on this. Its basic human decency.

Which is cool. You voice your displeasure and things get changed. That is ONE thing I give Ross credit for. While I think he has been very naive, he has been pretty good at taking the criticisms of fans and and trying to make some changes. Well, everything except for changing GM's but baby steps, baby steps.

that's on the organization not to have cordon off areas then...this isn't the fans fault, last we all checked this is America and people can roam freely unless told otherwise......

When you charge the public, you cede a lot of the rights that come with that.

There seems to be a disconnect here though. If you feel like you need to restrict access to someone because people are upset with their job performance and may react violently (which I think is extreme btw) then maybe you need to seriously evaluate the job this person has done.

Ireland happened to be there at the same time. It happens and is not all that unusual. I was once in an elevator at the stadium wioth Ross, Carl Petersen and Paul Tagliabue (shortly after Ross took over the team).

If you could say anything to Ross in an elevator now what would it be?

the guy is a straight up rich business man, he isnt going to lose money on his investment....he would move it in a heartbeat if he found a better place to grow it...

He was very cordial for the 15 seconds we were in the elevator together. Thanked my grandfather and I for coming and that was it.
