Right, and he had to have a reason for kicking him is my thinking. OL and DL fall and stay on top of guys all the time. You see guys do it to RB's towards the end of the game to kill time. That's gamesmanship, and I'm OK with that. This looked like more than gamesmanship to me, and I wouldn't appreciate an opposing player doing it to a Dolphins player.
I wanted to cheer for Dex so bad for that, but you're right. It made me cringe. Totally unnecessary and dirty as Hell.
I think it's clear he's exaggerating. Look guys do these types of things under piles all the time in football hell even in the open. How many times do you see a player stand over another impeding them getting up, how many times do you see someone holding onto a player on the ground impeding them getting up just to cause a little frustration and maybe get a retaliation penalty on them. It's a game and everyone plays at it. Richie is known for excelling at it and getting under opponents skins. Here he is doing it again and he won! This guy sounds like a crying little girl. Dick Butkus was famous for biting people under the pile. Was Dick actually trying to bite off players body parts? Please..... Guy is clearly embellishing and sounding weak because of it.
See that's an assumption I wouldn't make. And even if so, what if richie just frustrated him and he lost it? I don't know what happened. But I don't really see any proof of it either way. At least not conclusive.
I don't really care what Dick Butkus did. But that kind of **** has no place in the game. It's cheap. Just because guys do things like that doesn't make it OK. I also think there's a huge difference between "impeding" as you call it and what Incognito did.
Don't agree. I see players kick off other players holding their legs and feet after a number of plays every week. These guys are super Testosteroned out and amped up. It dosent take much to illicit a violent reaction from another player even if it's something minor. Players lose it and throw punches after words being exchanged in a game and you're going to tell me that this guy MUST have been being hurt to kick at Incognito? Not buying it.
I ripped leg hairs out of players under piles to get under their skin when I played. I do not apologize for it either. It's all mind games. If Incognito truly went into games with the intent to injure people he played against it would have happened numerous times already. It's a BS claim.
Its funny that this is being argued like a court case with reasonable doubt, but even in a court case Richie would be destroyed by dozens of character witnesses The guy is notorious
But, just only holding him by the ankle after the play was dead, could have been enough to frustrate Smith and cause him to start kicking.
I am more pissed off about the comments from that link. Those guys are forwarding it and tweeting it to Roger Goodell and a bunch of other people. Its getting attention from media and they are making comments like it will be awesome if we get Incognito suspended. Who cares? They won the game! Where I come from you get happy that your team won the game and leave it at that.
Possibly, yes. Had Smith not made the comments he did after the game I would've been inclined to believe that's exactly what happened. Maybe that's what did happen, and the dirtier plays were other ones we didn't see? Dunno. But something happened.
Yeah, I mean, they're fans. I didn't even bother to read the comments because most comments are dumb. Present company not excluded
this is what I saw too. I was expecting a violent show with RI attempting to rip Smiths leg off... call me a homer or what ever, all I see is RI holding on tightly as Smith was kicking the **** out of him. if anything Smith should have been called for kicking him. and really? he was defending himself? I'm sure much worse has happened to him in his football career...
My freshman year of high school football, i had my eyes poked and attempted to be scratched out multiple times.....the next game, and from then on the rest of my career, I wore a visor. I remember many pile ups where my balls where punched, grabbed, jerked (mmmm) and my throat punched or grabbed. It happens. Incognito is not the only one doing this. And that is if he's even doing anything. Those pictures prove nothing.
I think the avg. fan that hasn't played really has no idea what happens on a field. It gets nutty... Really nutty. My High school played some really... lets say "aggressive" teams too. Carol City, Miami Central, Miami Norland, etc. I could tell you some stories let me tell you. On another note..... your balls seemed to get an abnormal amount of attention in football piles...... What kind of "football" league were you playing in?
Pretty much. I could be wrong though. If I saw Pedro Martinez throw at a guy's head my first instinct is going to be he did it on purpose, not that the ball slipped out of his hand.
I'm sure it is, but again now we're speculating on whether Smith is lying/exaggerating. One guy has a reputation of being dirty (and has even admitted he was a dirty player in the past) and then a guy who as far as we know doesn't have a history of calling guys out.
To be honest, how much weight/strength does it take to break/hurt an ankle? I may be wrong, but I assume Richie is one strong mother ****er.....Ive seen smaller guys snap an ankle like a twig in pride/mma.....If richie wanted to cause harm, he could have...
Exactly. If Richie regularly went at his opponent with intent to injure he'd have done it before. As it is he has a reputation of doing things to annoy his opponent. Agreed there. Is it dirty or is it just another strategy to get your opponent off his game. Clearly there is a division here with what you'd consider his tactics. Bottom line is that he did NOT injure the guy and he CLEARLY got into his head. He succeeded in his strategy. I gotta to say it makes me chuckle listening to this guy cry after a win no less because that's just how much Richie got into his head.
right and a tape that doesn't show anything but one guy lying on top of the other. Again its huge assumption ville, population you and rocky raccoon.
Thats exactly what it sounds like. I remember playing Glades Central, and before the snap I was asking a guy out on dates, pretending to be gay, slapping his *** after plays (he would then punch my helmet....15 yards baby) anything to get into his head, and defeat him 1 on 1. I know Richie is "known" as a dirty player, I want to know how many ACTUAL injuries he has inflicted.....or has he been known to make it seem like he is attempting injury, or using psychological warfare? Seems so.
All this talk of Incognito getting into the guy's head and Richie still graded out poorly for the game (-4.0)
So what? I thought you were arguing playing dirty? Now you want a discussion on whether mental tactics work or not? It's all part of an entire package of warfare on a field and if you're up against a superior opponent none of it may work. Does not mean you don't break out the entire arsenal. Not to mention that we'd have to analyze all Richie's plays to see where his negative grades came up and against who and in what instances. How about Smith's grade out? Regardless, for the guy to still be *****in shows Richie did get in his head.
No, I was knocking down the "He must've been in Smith's head" argument, which clearly wasn't the case based on how he performed against him. If I'm holding my own against someone, or better, they're not getting into my head.
