I didn't either, exactly. Just sort of surmised that from how it was worded. It makes sense though, that such a system is in place as it regards waiver claims.

so it's kinda like fantasy football (which I know you play ) You submit a list, by position, in order of priority?

I'm sure we could have also taken Palmer had we wanted two. Since we claimed and kept both Stanford and Nolan. For some reason none of us can figure out, they preferred to keep Naanee rather than add two new WRs.

I played it once. Finished 2nd in my league, which was an auto draft league through nfl.com. I am thinking of doing same this year, since my kid wants us both to have a team in the same league.

I don't agree that Stallworth or Branch would be upgrades over Naanee. They're all wastes of roster space.

Branch definitely would. He can play. Nannee has never shown he can.

Like I said, Branch hasn't done anything noteworthy when away from Tom Brady.

Not really. He has. Not as productive as he was in NE but he had good seasons in Seattle. He just had trouble staying healthy.

And to say he's a waste of roster space and equate him to Nannee is laughable. Nannee has played with Rivers and Newton and shown nothing.

Calling both Branch and Naanee a waste of roster space is not equating them. Equating them would be saying that both would give us the same (lack of) production. Branch is clearly a different kind of player than Naanee—certainly better at catching the ball over his career. But that doesn't mean I'd cut Naanee for Branch. It just means I'd cut Naanee and wouldn't fill his spot with Branch. Or Stallworth, just to continue to stick to my point.

Even if Branch might be your only option? Who else would you replace him with then?

Totally. Branch's production in Seattle, such as it was, was still eons ahead of anything Naanee has ever done.

    Branch isn't our only option.

As for Naanee, I would have cut him when awarded Armstrong on waivers. Or I'd cut him for Gurley. Or try to package him in place of a draft pick in any potential Matt Moore trade.

Even saying that is really off base as far as I'm concerned. Naanee has shown nothing even in his best season, that indicates he's capable of being equal to Branch at any point of the latter's career in any way.

There are obviously going to be other possible options. All I said to begin with was any one of the 3 veteran WRs cut by the Pats would be a worthy upgrade over Naanee. Not the only ones. But, if nothing else, I would at least do that with one of those 3. You adamantly disagreed that any of the 3 would be worth replacing Naanee with.
What else is there to say? Simple disagreement. That's all.

You said "I don't agree that Stallworth or Branch would be upgrades over Naanee." So either you consider the two of them equal to Naanee or worse, if they are not upgrades.

I'd say that Stallworth is an upgrade over Naanee but then the question comes: How big of a difference is it? Do you even win one more game because of him this season? He obviously isn't a long term option and I'm not even sure it's a move that is worth making. It's an upgrade but in reality how much?

It means I think they wouldn't help us.

What's really going on here is that I don't think this team is going to do anything this year, so I don't want to haul in a bunch of rental veterans who don't want to be here. Specifically I don't want veterans whose skills have degenerated. Branch put up good numbers with Tom Brady once upon a time. Great. He's not going to put up those numbers in 2012, nor is he going to even put up the numbers we would need to be competitive in the passing game. Why bother? It's silly to me.

Here's another option, just to add to the pile I've given out: trade for an actual good receiver who will continue to be good for several seasons which he is coincidentally under contract for. That's the kind of help we need at WR. Not Branch. According to Section, we tried to trade for Jeremy Maclin. THAT is the kind of real, genuine upgrade we should be pursuing. Not Stallworth.

rich... love how he has Marshall, Welker and Ginn all on the same team. As if that were humanly possible had our Dolphins been managed differently (or correctly as he'd say).

I don't know how many more games, if any, we'd win. I think it stands to reason if one adds players they consider upgrades at any position, it improves your chances of winning more games. Also, even if it is for one season, having any WRs who are better than any WR we have now, should or could aid in Tannehill's development.
