    Hopefully that juices up attendance.

They should do more promotions so attendance can rise and we pass Cincinnati and Washington in attendance for stadiums built in the 21st Century.

So that Giancarlo Stanton man can sure hit that tiny white ball a long way with that stick he holds.

The ball would still probably creep over the wall. Was their an official distance on that HR he hit to left in Arizona the other day?

    Found it: 442

He has the #1 longest, #13 longest and #20 longest homers this year.

Soooo as my grandfather would have said (either sarcastic or seriously depending on how things were going) How bout them Marlins? Ha crap that actually made me sad. Wish he would have gotten to see Giancarlo or at least our second World Series.

We suck. Attendance is dropping. This season could not have gone worse.

At least we have Stanton, Reyes, Ruggiano and Buehrle.

Not even a new stadium can allure fans out to see this crappy product. I went to a few games, would like to go to more- just so disappointed in this club.

You're right though. Stanton, Reyes, Ruggiano, and Buehrle have all been excellent this year. Almost every other person on the roster (save maybe JJ) is expendable at this point.

If I were Miami, I'd look and see what I could get for Johnson simply because although if healthy he's a very good to great pitcher I question just how healthy he will be. I'm not saying get rid of him but if they can get a good haul of prospects back for him then I think you'd have to deal him. Stanton should be the only untouchable, signing him to a long term deal should be the #1 priority for them in the offseason.

I agree. Stanton is the only player on this team that will get anyone out to the ballpark as well.

I think they really need to focus on this being Stanton and Reyes team....build around that. Reyes does everything right, works hard, runs hard, creates entertaining plays, bright personality, great defensivley....Stanton brings power, strength, big dick, and gorgeous abs.

Mix those 2 together, and add around them to create the ultimate fan experience.

If we ever deal Stanton like we did Cabrera I will never watch this team again until ownership changes. Period.

I'd be devastated if this happens. Would strongly question my fandom as well, although I can't imagine jumping ship on a team I've grown up rooting for. Here's to hoping it just doesn't happen.

It wouldn't be jumping ship so much as being unable to watch someone/something you love be hurt. I could never love another team. Hopefully this NEVER happens though.

Stanton isn't going anywhere. They'll extend him in the off season guaranteed.

You have much more faith in them than I do.

They honestly don't have a choice though. It just needs to happen.

I see no reason not to. They extended Ramirez, JJ, and Nolasco. Stanton is better than them all.

Wasn't it you who posted that someone on SoFla Marlins who's good about contracts predicted an $80 million extension for Stanton?

Giancarlo is third in the MLB in Ab's per HR at 12.69, he is behind only Adam Dunn and Jose Bautista by less than half an at bat. Ninth in the MLB in total home runs despite missing extended playing time, second in the National League. He is currently ranked fifth in OBPS. He is second in straight slugging percentage behind only Braun and by only .0054.

Oh and he's 22 years old and becoming a pretty damn decent fielder as well out in right. If we ever trade him I'll be PISSED.

Yeah, Louie said that. Keep in mind though that Louie is saying that's what it would take to get it done, not what is going to happen/

That was at the beginning of the year though, so it's likely the price has gone up.. Every year the Marlins wait to extend him, the closer he gets to free agency and the less incentive he has to sign a team friendly extension. The Marlins could have realistically signed him to 6-7 year plus deal for $65m-$70m had they approached him in the offseason. Huge opportunity lost.

Some anonymous stupidity in Barry Jackson's column:

I really want to know who said that to Barry Jackson. Jackson seems to routinely get opinions of high level people in all sports, so he's either grossly exaggerating his access or the Marlins at the very top believe the crap the anonymous person is saying.

And given how quick Girardi was dumped, I can believe this opinion comes from the top.

The season that was to be the dream season for the new-look, now-large-market Marlins has finally, mercifully come to a mathematical conclusion.

They were forced to spend money simply to spend it. I feel kinda bad for Beinfest. He'll be axed once the season ends. Granted, he and the team haven't drafted well for a quite a while, but Loria finally gives him a sizable budget to bring people into the new stadium and they'll can his *** after one season of it.
