Maybe. Or maybe he wasn't on board with CJ and that's why there was a one strike and your out policy. And he disliked Davis enough to demote him. Whether or not he wanted Davis traded is pure speculation, but I don't think it's a stetch to say Philbin had little use for Davis and his attitude.
It was 16-3, when starters got pulled in the 3rd. Look Francis, you know I like you underneath all this fighting. But do you find no fault from our team or front office? I don't hate the team. I hate that we are bad and aren't doing enough to be good. Because the moves are out there to be made.
Look for 5 yrs, Irish has been acquiring his personnel via the Tuna blueprint. That is no longer the case as he has no Sparano (a Quitcells wanna-be), and no Quitcells looking over his shoulder at every move he makes or doesn't make. Philbin wants...needs different types of players than the Parcellian Empire needed/wanted... It's going to take time for both to adjust. What the events of this offseason/TC scream to me is the changing of the guard. Ross wants a the new regime to succeed, so it's entirely possible that if Philbin is saying "this guy doesn't fit my mold" then Irish is adjusting to that. It also tells me we are in full-blown rebuild mode, no matter how they try to spin it in the media... None of this should be surprising to anyone at this point...
I do find fault. Do you not understand that there's a difference between fault/flaws/some missteps and then way the FO has been described by you and others?
I cant verify this… but my buddy who works in our warehouse said he just heard Dave Hyde on the radio, and that my buddy said that Hyde just said on the radio that the reason why Dansby hasn’t been playing/practicing is b/c the team is unhappy with him after his comments from the Chad Johnson cutting… and that Dansby will probably be the next one out the door. Can anyone back this up?
The starting defense got pulled before the TD Pass. That said, 3 points by your starting offense is bad.
No it wasn't. It was insinuated by Philbin it was a number of things. The only people who insinuated it wasn't were people not involved.
Its logic. Strike 1) Idiotic, obnoxious, disrespectful, selfish profanity filled presser. Strike 2) Sucking in the game when it counted. Strike 3) Headbutting the wife.
If Hyde wrote that line trying to make it appear as anything the average person would read in any fashion save that of a annotated remark by Joe Philbin, he is guilty of the most incredibly inept writing, or worse - sacrificing journalistic credibility for the sensationalism of the moment - journalistic prostitution. In either case, it is egregious lapse. He failed to make it clear that these were his own assumptions, if that is the case. Even worse, the editor who let this enter the public arena without checking for corroboration, and should he not receive such, elicit a clarifying rewrite of that opening sentence, should be dropped back to checking obituaries for spelling and grammatical lapses. ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 2 WITCH. Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,— For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. 'Tis bubbling over into our midst.
Fair enough. I could've sworn someone on Hard Knocks talked about a one strike policy on CJ. Either way, it was pretty obvious Philbin was never on board with the Chad Johnson Experiment.
Well, I for one never took it as Joe Philbin's words. I took it as a columnist seeing what is happening and stated his opinion. Did he do it in a sensational, tabloid-y way? Absolutely.
I think you're right. I think players commented on that. Maybe Dansby. And maybe to the point of 1 legal strike, and he was out. But I think its what Philbin said, it wasn't any 1 thing. But it was actually all of those things combined. I was for his release, for the record...though I did feel a little bad when he was pleading for his job, and said he "bought in" and such.
I seriously don't understand your thought processes. I think that is why we are always on the opposite sides of discussions. He only got rid of CJ after CJ got arrested for domestic abuse. CJ didn't deny he did it, there was no question that he did it. CJ did things Philbin didn't like beofre that, and he didn't chew him out or punish him, he talked to him calmly and rationally man to man. That's it. None of that means he was obviously against CJ.
So while watching Hard Knocks you never got the feeling Philbin wasn't really on board with CJ being on the team? Because I certainly did.
No. i got the feeling he was concerned CJ would screw up. But I got the feeling he was fine with him. i think Philbin makes a big deal about causing strife in the locker room and breaking the law. I think all coaches should take a page out of that book. When winning is more important than anything else....then well...Penn State.
I'm down on Ireland ATM, BUT anyone who thought that Philbin would not shake up the roster is perhaps someone who has not paid all that much attention to what happens when a new Staff comes into town. "We" have followed these players for yrs, we form opinions on them, cheer for them, a new staff owes them -0- and wants their own players in positions, this is a reality of a coaching change.
I'm sure the guy was on board with the idea of having chad Johnson on the team, the problem was, you expect a 34 year old man to act like one..He had the chance to show a humble, professional, ninja like demeanor, and he failed big time.. Here's the thing for me, if everyone keeps *****ing about how bad the team is, and how could we of let go of these players, well, you got your man in Philbin, he's cleaning out all the BS that has caused you this anguish the past few years.. Laziness is why you have losing seasons in this game. So if talking about How you hate being mediocre, then we should embrace what Philbin has done so far.
