While Luck is no Manning, most analysts say Luck is the best QB to enter the league since Elway. What does that tell you?
To me it looks as though there has been a mutual agreement to rebuild the club, Owner, Ireland, Philbin, Philbin is letting him know who he thinks he can build a champioship caliber team with, and Ireland is executing the plan, I wouldn't be surprised if something came out soon where Ireland states what he was and wasnt responsible for, the past 4 years. If he can prove it was Parcells pick, then he should come forward, it would help us all out.
Haven't you noticed? The Colts are doing whatever they can to improve their team as quickly as possible. Not only do they have a new coaching staff, they have a new GM as well. The Dolphins have been walking in quicksand so far. If this 2nd round pick isn't leverage for a quality receiver this year then I will be donating to the FIRELAND movement. Do you really see the additions of Naanee, RMarshall as a net gain when compared to the loss of BMarshall, Davis? And please don't tell me it was a coaching decision because I don't believe it.
I would think that the council was aware of the move, not giving them the chance to rehab VD would be going against your word no?
scrolling up and hit THANKS as soon as I saw the sig pic.. dind't even make it to the post. damn it's hard to concentrate on what you say. I hoep you have women in your real life tlike the ones in your sig pics.
Davis was not a 3rd string CB. Never was. He was the 3rd CB. Big difference. The 3rd CB plays about 60% of the defensive snaps. He is more of a starter than the 3rd LB who leaves the field when the nickel back enters the game.
Ireland will use that 2nd on a player he can flip for a 3rd or 4th in 2016. That's the way a good GM does it son. The sad part is that Mitt loving bumbling idiot Ross will probably still have Ireland as the GM in 2016, well because he is doing such a fine job at these perpetual rebuilds.
We drafted "hopeful" playmakers in Gates, DT, Clay, Egnew, Tannehill, Miller, and Matthews.... and that's not including signing Bush. 53% of Ireland's 2 lone drafts were spend on offensive skill players.
Ireland will not get into a pissing match with Parcells . Development players selected last draft , trade not only starters but productive , physically elite ones ( yes with issues ) for futures ... = REBUILD. Said that it months ago ... Everyone knows it now despite how Ireland may try to spin it. You better have a whack of money to throw at FA's because the structure here won't sway them.
the fact that ireland is thinking about using that pick to get a wr this year, if thats possible, is great news to me. i am glad he is not giving up on this year. my hats off to him. he still has to pull it off, plus make a few more good moves without any bad moves before i get off the "fire ireland" band wagon. sounds like he is taking a step in the right direction!
He has only done that once, for Thomas. That hardly indicates a strong propensity for doing so repeatedly.
Tanneyhill , one ... developmental players late , and you did accurately say hopeful , so far not a player that has been. pretty much done with Irish apologists , if they are right , my praise will come , as it looks besides Tanneyhill not overly worried about having to provide that.
Perhaps the writing was already on the wall when we signed Richard Marshall. We brought in a guy (at no draft cost) who replaces our #2 starting corner, and then we trade our previous #2 corner for a 2nd & 6th? You could almost look at the net results like we improved our #2 corner position AND netted a high draft pick in the process.
Thomas, Clay, Miller? 3 times in 2 years. Plus taking Tannehill at #8 when a lot of people felt we should've traded back is somewhat comparable to trading up.
These guys were playmakers in college, and all have it in them to be playmakers in the NFL, but they still need time to develop, no?
Next year we can trade Odrick for a 2nd rounder in 2014. Keep the recycling and perpetual Jeffy rebuild plan going on into infinity.
Maybe the higher ups know what went down, Hence him getting this fresh start with this new staff..It sure seems like their all on the same page..tradin players for picks and sh&$ before the reg season..
amen to that. which game our we gonna go to, to see our new franchise qb in action? hopefully he will have one more weapon to use in that game.
Vonte is a third string CB like Peyton had a less than 1% chance to ever play again , just because some people say doesn't make it true.
Maybe , but it won't sell tickets ,and you know that. They also better develop THEIR players , hadn't they?
i know u are joking but shouldnt u compare paper with paper or plastic with plastic, instead of paper to plastic? please dont ask me who the paper or plastic is. lol. i hear crickets on this joke.
If Tannehill can post any semblance of a decent rookie season with this collection of misfits (after Bess) that has been assembled for him at WR, it will be the best effort by a rookie QB ever.
All the bad picks from 2008 thru 2010 were by Parcells. All the good picks were made while Bill had to step out to take a piss and Ireland got to make the pick instead.
To a degree , yes they need time but you also need players to produce immediately ( or close to it ) especially if you trade up and take them very high relative to their position ( Thomas ) and waiting multiple years for a return isn't productive. By playmakers I also mean passing on one and trading down and not getting a playmaker on defense or offense. We should be seeing more from many of these players , so the reason we aren't is because of the ability of the last staff primarily , that is what we are being told? Maybe ... but really Ireland , Philbin are on the same page ... jettisoning players not wanted , not replacing them with young veterans , drafting their corp , and telling everyone this is how we will be winners. I hope they are right , but this is several years away imo. Which is pretty much where were several years ago ,and then several years before that .
I'm not upset by this. He didn't work hard, wasn't living up to his capabilities, and had a horrible attitude. Not to mention that whole likely drunk during the season thing. If week flip this for a wr I'll be a happy man.
Attitude removed ( and I know that is part of this ) hard pressed to show Marshall is/was better than Vonte even with his warts on the field .... and that still leaves us without a much need starter at CB as you need 3 starters. BTW as I said before Carroll is older than Vonte , and no ill wishes to Carroll , not dissing him , but he has at least as many questions as he has answers at the moment imo.
We do not have a top WR now, when Tannehill could really use one to help expedite his development. Not even a top WR, just another medium level WR or two would be nice.
I don't think the council is gonna get "signing off" power. They may get consulted and have input to the coaching staff either in support or not in support of a player, but they're not gonna get any "veto" power IMO.
D22, This is exactly where I'm at now too. I'm tired of lying to myself regarding Ireland's vision and competency for doing this.
How many years in a row now have we been 2 years away? Seems like we are frozen in this 2 yrs away limbo.
Good point. Patience with Big Paul to mature mentally. No patience with Vontae. Nice that they can be consistent anyway huh?
I know this might be too soon to ask, since the season hasn't started, but, what do you think we can get for Lamar Miller draftpick-wise?
